You can't give Syrus too much grief for combining roids and Cyberdark/Dragons when you have Chazz mashing THREE archetypes together in some Frankenstein monster of a deck
In Chazz's defence, he had anime-exclusive cards that made the Ojamas work well with his V-Z machines. Syrus had nothing that made his deck synergise with other archetypes or really anything effective against an opponent that didn't just rely on a single boss monster.
exactly. the Archetype's Syrus put together are all Machines. so even if he needs some random Dragon cards thrown in to just get the Cyberdark archetype to be it's very best the rest of his cards basically just need Machine support & can easily go together.
Unlike archetypes like Crystal Beast or Cyberdark, which modern support made go from OK to can lock the opponent if played right, Vehicroids would need a complete overhaul to make viable. Nothing about them synergies with the end strategy, and the lack of searchers and viable boss monsters. They didn't get an E - Emergency Call to let them get their monsters to their hand. They didn't get a Cyber Repair Plant to recycle their stuff. They just kinda tripped and kept tripping. I get that it's based off the Little Engine that Could, but in this case, it's not a steep mountain that Vehicroids are trying to surmount, it's a vertical wall.
They need the Gaia treatment. Make an entirely new core of cards to make it playable. The old Gaia support that was tied down to BLS was unplayable, but the new Magical Knight stuff makes it pretty okay. Vehicroids need a hard reboot like that.
Or give them a roid based field spell, maybe call it vehicroid vehicity. And we go FULL TOON. Make vehicroid versions of well known machine monsters. Kingroid(machine king), drakeroid(cyber dragon), abcroid(a-z union monsters), etc. then we make these new monsters be able to allow for more interaction with cyberdarks and cyberdragons. But we add a field spell restriction that the controller of it can’t synchro summon or xyz summon. It’s not a fix it’s just a start
To think that Kiteroid is still relevant to today's Duel Link Meta Decks because of Link Monsters and stopping their attacks. Because I use Sphere Kuriboh protection and battle position change. But does nothing against Link Monster attacks.
This gives me an idea… You know how a lot of Superheroes have their own iconic vehicles (The Batmobile, the Invisible Jet, The Spider Buggy, etc…) I was thinking that HERO monsters can have their own “HERO-Mobile” Roid monsters that would serve as their own vehicles of choice. Especially since their users were besties in the GX anime.
@@FlushedTTV Well let’s start with mashing together existing monsters… Maybe Avian gets his own Jetroid? And it has effects that mash together, like Jetroids own + “Feather Shot”?
serious question: can they update yugioh cards? I feel like once printed you can't add 'counts as vehicroid' to new prints because what if I still have an old one where this is not stated?
Should point out that Super Vehicroid - Stealth Union is actually a reference to one of most popular mechs in the Brave series, GaoGaiGar. All of its fusion materials is a reference to the different machines that make up GaoGaiGar, except for Truckroid, who takes the place of Galeon/GaiGar.
I always find it nice that despite the roids not being so good, they had one of the most busted archetypal skill in Duel Links, letting you search out any roid that's listed on a Fusion material. Gives you nearly every monster in the deck you needed.
Fusions that have specific materials may have been unplayable, but they made more sense than the non-specific summoning. Just look at Jumbo Drill, he actually looks like a combination of the three.
FACTS. I think a good middle-ground approach to this would be to still have generic Fusion Summons, but have an extra effect that can only be used if you CORRECTLY Fused for the Monster using its actual materials.
@@TheGloryXrosyeah like red eyes dragoon is kinda like this, you can fuse it with incorrect materials but its way stronger if you use the right materials
If Konami simply just did a mass naming overhaul and made the names of all the cards in the archetype into "Vehicroid" cards, it would easily fix a chunk of the archetype's issues
I mean If they made summoned skull and og gazelle part of archetypes by including "this card is also always treated as an x archetype card" , it can work with these too and, it could indeed fix a lot But if they need a gameplan, or a way to get salvation, they need *really good support* repaired genex controller style, you know? Either than or a structure deck R
THey did fix Frog the Jam after all this time by renaming it Slime Toad to FINALLY be able to remove the "Except Frog the Jam" line from every frog card. Though I guess now it's a "Toad" card but I don't think it had issues with Toads (even though the monster is not a Toad either, it's explicitly named that according to the flavor text). Plus something similar happened in the German (or Korean?) version where one card due to a language specific grammatical change caused the card to have a far more powerful effect than any other language, so people would literally import that version of the card in thier deck with a note translating what it did so they could play the superior version until they fixed it with a reprint.
Fun obscure fact about Gyroid: in the old GX GBA game, Duel Academy, this was one of the cards in some the best Final Countdown deck, which allowed ya to grind a lot of that games currency
@@soukenmarufwt5224 Really is a shame. I saw no reason for Zane to go from a competent and respectful top duelist trying to help his horribly insecure brother get better through hints of tough love to a nearly broken man who needed power at all costs cause some prick named Aster Phoenix beat him and mobsters broke a deal with him. Syrus didn't even have any likeable qualities that made us WANT to see him surpass Zane or grow as a character. He always struck me as comic relief to the end because unlike Joey who really made it his mission to get better at duel monsters, Syrus never seemed like he wanted to get better by actually learning the game and studying his duels, heck he only got promoted to Ra Yellow because of a gambit from Crowler that had nothing to do with him and only served to push his rivalry with Hassleberry. I get the whole "Always in the shadow of my brother" but again....Syrus made NO effort to actaully GET better.... like maybe do some practice duels and really study when to best use Powerbond instead fo keeping it in his back pocket for a year and just HOPING the one time he plays it is good enough to impress Zane. NOT how you get good at a strategy game.... Hehe still love the character though XD He's pathetic to a fault, but he's ... well... he's Zane's little brother!
Been thinkin on this for a bit, and i can fix the entire archetype with one card. Just writing this here so if konami comes out with it, i can say i thought of it first ; Vehicroid Retrofit ; all fusion monsters listing non tuner, non synchro roid monsters are considered Vehicroids, and have their attribute and type changed to Earth Machine. All non tuner, non synchro roid monsters are considered Earth Machine Vehicroids. All Vehicroids have their ATK and DEF swapped, and gain 500 ATK and DEF. Vehicroids effects cannot be negated, and they cannot be destroyed by card effects. Once per turn, if this card would be destroyed, banish 1 Vehicroid from extra deck or your deck instead
I love that they looked at Vehicroids, gave them UFOroid which is a machine searching version of Giant Rat and co. And their reaction was "this will be game breaking. Make it a level 6 1200/1200 monster stat!"
@@bibigamer502 whom the fucketh knows? In the anime they had Syrus tribute Drillroid to summon it and then Syrus immediately goes into Power Bond to fuse UFOroid and Tempest into UFORoid Fighter so the battle destruction/floating effect literally never came up. [Even tho Power Bond also fusion summons with materials from the hand, so I assume it's for the viewers' benefit to see UFOroid hit the field at least once before it gets used as material so they know what it looks like]
I remember their win condition was in the anime. Use vehicroid connection zone to summon jumbo drill then use remove limiter on it. VCZ makes it immune to self destruct. It becomes a 6k piercing beat stick that you couldn't destroy with effects. This was strong when you didn't have a lot of options to remove a tower like that. I also remember remove limiter was unlimited back then. Lol.
this archetype was my absolute favorite as a kid. i spent a lot of time and my parents money pulling for this and all i had to show for it was an ultimate uforoid which to be fair i thought was the coolest.
Convinced Konami just hates “best friend” characters with what they did to -Roids & Red-Eyes. It’s sad how bad they’ve made them. Least they could have done is try to allow some synergy between -Roids and Speedroids but Cy really not allowed to have nice things.
Last time they release good card for "Best friend" it ended with eldlitch summon dragun set 3 floodgate pass. If you make a singular good card for unsalvageable archetypes it will end up abused in other deck.
You are just salty that a) you didn’t get to see yugi clap joey and then donate his REBD back to him You know this to be true b) Joey lost when feeling the flame of Egyptian god in the shadow realm. He should have never been standing. That’s like saying Joey is better than a god Hahahahaha
Please do the Libromancer archetype next. I would love to know what their lore is since it seems to be interesting. Also the reason why Shuttleroid was never printed internationally was basically because Konami may have violated the trademark or copyright on the U.S Space Shuttle when making the card and Konami is avoiding to print it or something like that
fun fact; super vehicroid Stealth union is a reference to GaoGaiGar, and 3 of the 4 monsters that make it up are identical to the machines in that show; the train, drill and jet. no lion for the main chest though.
It's the Stealth Plane, not the Jet that's used. Also as pointed out on the Yugioh Wiki, if you replace the Truck with the Jet, you can get GaoFighGar out of it.
It was one of the few machine fusion archtypes back in the day so it took advantage of power bond and remove limiter. Too bad its own name screwed it over.
It’s funny that you mentioned that Barbaroid is made of 5 unreleased roid monsters because the shocking reality is, there’s around 15 monsters from the manga that never got released (Carrier, Shuttle, Armor and Barba were the only ones released) on top of their S/T, so they could give them a huge wave of support just releasing some of these guys with updated effects Also includes a version of Stealthroid that looks and functions different from the TCG version, probably would need a rename when released
So first things first, we need more fusion monsters, cards like patroid/jetroid/decoyroid should have more options to go into than pair cycroid or mobile base. Second, it'd be cool if they reworked some old cards like they did with Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. They created "Neo Blue-eyes..." If they gave cards like steam gyroid a neo form to switch into more modern "Roid" decks, it'd make the card more viable. They can add it for pretty much all the lackluster cards. Give it Steamroid's effect, or make it easier to summon by updating the summoning conditions, maybe increase its attack or defense a bit. Third, they could also give these "Neo-Roid's" the (this is treated as a vehicroid) effect, making the fusion spell relevant again. This'll also give a win condition: create high atk monsters that are protected by the fusion spell, then swing over their opponent. Not the best win condition, but better than Pair Cycroid or Mobile base
Some of the Vehicroids workd okay in an Ojama deck. Submarineroid becomes an 1800 direct attacker and Truckroid end up as a really strong but cheap beater monster.
I wonder if it was a mistake to keep these apart from Speedroids. It might be more personal, but I like it in games when two seemingly unrelated things work well together. Like how Necroid Shaman is shown in this video being a "Roid" Fusion monter, it just adds a lot of enjoyment for me
Knowing a "roid" archetype already existed makes me wonder why they still made the "Speedroid" in the firstplace rather than make a name that doesn't interfere with an existing one (especially also from a major anime character).
Still love these cards. Would love to build an old school deck with them. Wanted to back in 2008 after the 5Ds starter deck released and I still do! Vehicroids need a total overhaul for today's Yu-Gi-Oh though.
I hate that they went with 'non-WIND "roid" monster', when they could have done what some other archetypes have done and said 'Machine "roid" monster (except "Speedroid" monsters)'.
Can the Vehicroid archetype be saved? Honestly, it's possible. Retraining some of the fusions can help, but won't be good enough to make it viable. I can think of a couple card ideas. 1) "Super Vehicroid Reconstruction Area" Continuous Spell Effect: During your Main Phase, you can Fusion Summon one Machine-Type "-roid" monster from your Extra Deck by banishing the listed materials from your hand, field, GY, or Deck. If the summoning of the Fusion monster by this effect is successful, apply the following effects based on where the materials came from. Hand: Draw 1 card Field: The Fusion-summoned monster is unaffected by your opponent's card effects until the End Phase GY: Once, if the Fusion-summoned monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect, it is not. Deck: Any effect damage you would take would become 0 until the Standby Phase of your opponent's next turn. You can only have one copy of "Super Vehicroid Reconstruction Area" on your field. You can only activate the effects of "Super Vehicroid Reconstruction Area" once per turn. 2) Vehicroid! Rollout! Trap Effect: Select one Fusion Machine-Type "-roid" monster from your Extra Deck that has listed names as materials. SS all the named materials from your hand, Deck, or GY in Defense position. Those monsters' effects are negated and are destroyed during the End Phase. Just a couple ideas.
One of my personal favorite combos with this archetype is using chain material, and vehicroid connection zone. It's a bit slow, but this can cheat out all of their vehicroid fusions, while also being protected by chain materials destruction effect
i would say the vehicroid deck is one of those archetypes that benefited from the rules of the anime, with only 4k life points, the strategy of stalling your opponents attacks long enough for you to attack through them directly for game, is so much easier and that is their wincon. still not the greatest strategy but back in the day in that anime... it was definitely a better strategy than jaden's deck i would say
but in modern yugioh where traps mean nothing, tons of removal, tons of cards with protection, tons of negates... that does nothing, also helps that in the anime staples rarely exist lol
It's like Konami is going out of their way to make each wave of Vehicroid support bad and incompatible with each other The only other archetype who gets worse support is Red-Eyes
Honestly, I feel like this architect needs a full reboot like all of them to Vickroy and maybe throw some more spelling trap monsters that help with fusion thing
7:41 So the only fusion monster that I have the materials for, (Amulance Rescueroid), I still don't have a card to conduct a fusion summon for it with? Darn it Vehicroid Connection Zone! Gone a decade thinking I could use it, gotten the matterials from the same booster pack... The curse of only being allowed single booster packs, no starter decks, too expensive.
Wow, this video makes me wanna start a project where I take old and forgotten archtypes like "Roids" and give them a small boost in effects and card design and make fun proxy decks out of them.
I've had a couple ideas for the Vehicroids myself. Obviously giving the Vehicroids their own blanket text of (this card is treated as a "Vehicroid" monster). Errata Mixeroid and Dragonroid to work with Vehicroids specifically. Give retrains to Steam Gyroid,, and Ambulance Rescueroid (I'm thinking "Super Vehicroid Flying Locomotive", and "Super Vehicroid Urgent Care" for them respectively). And finally giving them a sort of Link Monster to kind of act as a kind of backbone for the deck (A shuttlebus/twin level bus-based vehicroid?). Obviously it's not enough, but it's a start at the very least, and can kind of help them get back on track to what the deck is about, instead of feeling like a "little brother of cyber dragon" sort of deck.
"Super Vehicroid - Stealth Union", or as I like to call it, "Super Vehicroid - GaoGaiGar", had the potential to be a really good boss monster/beat-stick, albeit a bit tough to summon. The only flaw is that it halves its own Original ATK when attacking. It would've been a lot better, had it just not had that ATK-halving effect, or had it been the opponent's ATK it halved. But its own? Makes it near useless, as it basically can't beat over any boss monsters.
They would need a massive retrain. As a Transformers fan, I'd kinda like to see them lean more into a Transformers aesthetic if they did, mostly because I find a lot of the vehicroids to look like they belong in the Toon archetype. It feels like an archetype they'd need to do something akin to what they did with Ishizu's cards and effectively go "gut everything, we're starting from scratch."
Drillroid actually was pretty decent around the time flip effects and walls like Spirit Reaper and Marshmallon were still relevant. It was a stronger Sasuke Samurai, able to get past annoying stall monsters and the 1600 ATK was pretty good. But it's long past irrelevant now and even back then spell and trap based removal was a little more versatile.
I love how in the anime setting, Dragonroid serves absolutely no purpose at all with the Roid archetype but is only used with the specific archetype that is Cyberdark which in the anime lore, is an unique set of cards just like the Destiny Heroes or the Crystal Beasts as it was the Cyber art school forbidden deck. Yet Cyrus was able to get a Roid monster that works with this extremely unique archetype.
If they make some of the manga cards it will do a little better. The unfortunate thing is that any new support we get for this archetype will most likely connect it to the cyberdark archetype instead of its own archetype
14:03 for future reference the odds of us getting a Cyber Dragon Eins is so low it is comical. My reasoning is because we already have a card that could be considered it. The card is Cyber Dragon. It's the first Cyber Dragon made after the prototype.
If vehicroids got a machine type equivalent to branded fusion they'd have a lot less issues. Naming convention issues could be addressed by the release of a new set similar to maze of memories that adds new archetype members that address original issues, kinda like how gate guardian got new fusion forms instead of being left unplayable and useless as it's original form. Extra super vehicroid fusions that use only two to three material monsters would also vastly improve playability via vehicroid connection zone and create a repeatable win condition saving the deck.
I think that the vehicroid deck has potential for being saved They just need a few things changed/added: 1) naming scheme overhaul 2) Spell card searcher (E-Call but for them) 3) 1 more generic-esque fusion (Pair Cycroid like but instead of 2 with the same name maybe 3 with different ones?) 4) some form of protection 5) 1 or 2 more support cards similar to Mixeroid.
Super Vehicroid-Mobile Base is straight up Metroplex from Transformers. You know an archetype is some garbage when they have a busted Counter Trap like Emergeroid Call and it does nothing to help them.
I say the Vehicroid Archetype could not only get extra support but also a retrain of its' classic cards like Ishizu's cards like as you said adding the Vehicroid into their names with new effects would do wonders.
What i really hate of Truckroid. 1000 atk!!!! Like really now?!!! They want you to run over monsters and equip them!! How can you do that really with a 1000 atk monster?!!! It would be better to flip flop the stats around with it having a 2000 def! Idc if they change its effects so you only can gain half of the atk. But seriously 1000 atk!! Thats one way to fix one thing in the archetype. I know super small thing but so irritating knowing a ok effect in that archetype have a weak atk that they cant utilize the effect!
@@пользовательинтернета-м7д for a hard opt and hard locks you into fusions. Yeah that's a hard no for me. Also it only affects 1 monster. At that point what's the point of playing that card?
This is where if YuGiOh! adopted the Pokémon style where they rerelease old cards with new effects but the same name it could be great. I know Yu-Gi-Oh! does retrains but it would be nice to see some of the original monsters be reborn with new effects but still be called what we remember them as instead of some offshoot name. Would be an easy way for them to reprint new cards whilst still addressing older archtypes. Let's face it, the only way Vechiroid is ever gonna see play is if they come out with an entire new major set or if they rebrand the older cards to have updated effects.
At least the Vehicroids have an archetype. I'm still waiting for Serpent Knight Dragon to have any kind of compatibility. Rex's only mistake was listening to Weevil about anything. He has never cheated in the card game and was bamboozled by Mai's perfume cheat. It's not fair. ... But I digress.
I both hate and love this machines, love because Pair Cycroid OTK has to be one of the most disresprectful otk ever, and at the same time hate because they made de GaoGaiGar inspired card literally have noodle arms with that half atk thing
I feel like 2 spell cards could almost salvage this archetype, - sent 2 non-wind "roid" monsters with different names from your deck to the GY; add 1 "roid" monster to from your deck to your hand. Hopt - Fusion summon 1 "roid" fusion monster by banishing materials from your hand or GY. You can banish this card from the GY; special summon a "roid" monster from the GY in defense position.
With the right support being added I could see this archtype being at least decent. It needs some support cards that both swarm the field with roids and boost their ATK at the same time. Some decent searches and revival. It could use either an upgraded version of Vehicroid Connection Zone or one that works for the lower level fusions while also setting you up for Vehicroid Connection Zone. As for as the issue with Speedroids getting the support meant for roids they could just have the cards say "Machine-type roid monsters that is not a Speedroid" to avoid the archtype support from overlapping. It would also be nice if there was a way for the Fusions to gain the effects of their fusion material so those seemingly random effects could be stacked.
A little latte, but fun fact. Super Vehicroid Mobile Base/Megaroid City is a reference(or heavily inspired by) to a Transformers character called Metroplex
Another cool fact about Stealth Union is that it is based on GaoGaiGar. Not only its materials are the same required to form GaoGaiGar, but its effects reference GaoGaiGar's powers as well.
@@toumabyakuya Solidroad Alpha, Beta and Gamma. Alpha looks like Getter 1 with Getter 2's head and GGG's StealthGao, Solidroad Gamma looks like Getter 3 + Getter Poseidon and looks like it's out of Megaman Exe (Even has arm cannons resembling 1st Armor X's Buster that shoots out cyclones). Beta looks the least Getter like, kinda Stelva/Gunbuster like. In the manga, they form via 3 plane like roids, much like the Getter Machines.
To be honest, Vehicroids deserved better. They still should be an underdog type deck, but, this is just sad, man. To make them better they'd need: 1.) A full Archetypal rename (or an errata that makes them all count as 'Vehicroid' monsters) and change their effects to just specifying Vehicroids. So instead of 'non-wind roid monsters' ON FREAKING WIND MONSTERS (I cannot overstate how much that pisses me off by the way) they get access to everything in archetype, and it'd mean those fusion monsters can be summoned BY their fusion spell 2.) A lot more search power, better starters and extenders, because they need some way to search fusion spells or ways to turn one monster summon into a bunch of other monsters so they can afford to run MORE fusions. To be honest though, there's no good way to make just one or two new cards that would solve this problem, without making some Uber-Busted fusion monster that's a 1 Vehicroid contact fusion (BECAUSE YOU'RE LOCKED INTO FUSION SO IT CAN'T BE A LINK 1, THANKS FIELD SPELL) that lets you summon from deck AND add stuff to hand. 3.) Better bosses, the ones they have, while good, are a bit much work for the payoffs, like for god's sake just remove that halving atk from Stealth Union and, EVEN WITH the super restrictive summoning requirements of 4 SPECIFIC NAMED MONSTERS that are all PRETTY BAD- it would be a good boss monster. But to be honest, they need more, more generic like Pair Cycroid, more stats like Barbaroid, and better effects like Stealth Union (but not the attack halving). It doesn't have to have all of those, hell if it was like, 3 generic roids, 1500 atk, give it truckroid's stat stealing via equip spells, let it attack twice but not directly, and deal piercing, you've got a really good boss that would be reasonable to go into, and sure it's got no protection, but that's what the archetypal fusion spell is for! Or if you wanna make it REALLY good, make it untargetable, bam, need a non-targeting banish, or battle to out it. (Or an effect negate but shh) 4.) Better ways to get INTO their bosses, give them an Archetypal specific Brilliant Fusion. Only summons Vehicroids, only sends Vehicroids, hell give it a similar thing where they lose stats but make it so you discard a monster to give it its stats back. Could even go a step further on restrictions and make it so it can only send specifically named ones, so you can still get stuff like Stealth Union, Jumbo Drill, even Cyrus' favorite card- 5.) Better effects on their other monsters. Yes, they're an old archetype, their monsters shouldn't have good effects, but like, Gyroid's once per turn battle protection ain't gonna cut it chief. This'll basically mean retrains would be needed, or there'd need to be a card that gives them effects like how Weather Painters do it. Overall, basically what needs to be done, is something similar to the new Gate Guardian archetype, where you make totally new monsters based on the old ones, and some that use the old ones in new ways. Like make a new Gyroid that's immune to any destruction once per turn, but also make it so it can special summon itself from hand if you control another Vehicroid. Call it Vehicroid - Gyroid, and make it's name always count as Gyroid for naming purposes, or make it mirror Cyber Dragons where they copy the needed names while on field. Vehicroid - Dragonroid, give it nearly the exact same effect, but let it do something more than be a dragon in grave, let it like- copy the name of a Vehicroid from somewhere and let it be banished as a fusion material the turn it does that. Do something totally silly, like, make some Vehicroid that can fusion summon using an opponent's monster by treating their monster as a Vehicroid name that you banish from deck, call it like, Towroid, off of a Tow Truck. Make stuff off of sillier things too, we have Cycroid, make Unicycroid, which can tribute itself to summon a Vehicroid from deck, but can summon two if they're normal monsters, so you have a reason to run regular Cycroid to give you more just, generic materials, sure it'd put garnets into your deck, but it's fun flavor! Overall, the deck would need a LOT to come back, and by that point it'd be very different, but still keeping the heart and soul of the silly sentient Vehicles, just in a more modern time. Anyway, I really like Libromancers, I know they weren't ever used in the anime, but I think we've moved past the point they can be used, and I'd love a deck breakdown mostly for the story of the characters, because it seems to jump around a lot and some things are kinda unclear to me, but I think it'd be a fun story all the same
Vehicroid feels like an archetype that only existed to be Syrus' lame baby deck that he eventually grows out of, and Konami has been treating it like that ever since.
Eh, it kind of makes sense when you look at Zane and Syrus. They are brothers thus their decks are similar, Zane uses a fusion heavy deck of cool looking machine dragons, thus Syrus uses a machine deck as well, but made up of more goofy looking monsters to fit his more whimpy demeanor and personality. Problem is because Zane was supposed to be a badass from the start his cards needed to be good too, while Syrus had to be stuck with lame cards cause he wasn't supposed to be really good until atleast Season 2.
I mean sure with a lot of effort it can be saved. But Konami printing the new support as wind monsters after specifically deciding that their effects won't work on wind monsters does not give me much hope. it's like printing branded support that says "this card isn't and can never be treated as fallen of albaz"
Give us the Solidroids for starters. Do what they did with Pair Cycroid and make em generic roid material fusions that have Super Vehicroid in their name. Also, give em a tag out/floater function were either if they are removed from the field by a card effect/have a quick effect to special summon another once per turn to dodge destruction or replace em. On top of that, give them a buffed manga effect and maybe something else. Would make em decent cards and also keep the Getter Robo reference. They could afford to be a bit overpowered given the roids aren't that good.
hero survived this long thanks to konami actually releasing the better heroes fusion from the manga early on so i do hope vehicleroid will too in the future
Why didn't the support cards just say "Search for a roid monster except a speedroid" we see them do something like this with other cards notably any fusion search now says "except wave motion difusion"
I can’t help but find it a little funny that my most favorite casual deck (SpeedRoids) negativity affect the quality of vehicolrois. Just for both having Roid in the name
Honestly, the Vehicroid had so much potential in my eyes. However, it was a train wreck to begin with. I'm hoping Konami can save this archetype, and they can with monsters like Kiteroid.
I have fallen in LOVE with the Fallen Albaz and the SEVERAL archetypes that it pairs with. It also has a SUPER EXPANSIVE lore that would be a great undertaking to cover. I love using this card in masterduel and its boss monsters are hecka powerful.
18:00 I'm pretty sure this monster is it supposed to be a reference to Fortress Maximus from on Transformers since they had similar color palettes and Both City mode so that cool.
I believe the way to make Roids work(as in: have an identity and goals, not be meta) lies in the 5 German number Roids from the manga plus the gy fusion spell Change Einroid's effect to work when sent to the gy in anyway (EX:Megaroid city or a Link Kuriboh) and give numbers 3-5 good effects like searching(for the field/fusion spells and counter trap) when sent to gy, then you have something to aim for. since Dragon and Mixer (and one for one) can get you to it consistently plus the 5 manga roids could all have a shared effect to be counted as the named roid fusion materials so you can just used them to make the older Vehicroid fusion if you need too Also if this archetype gets a way to search for Limiter Removal it can aim for an OTK goal. that card is already in the Vehicoid pack in Master Duel
You can't give Syrus too much grief for combining roids and Cyberdark/Dragons when you have Chazz mashing THREE archetypes together in some Frankenstein monster of a deck

I often joke about Kiteroid when I’m playing Master Duel because of its exclusiveness to Duel Links

To think that Kiteroid is still relevant to today's Duel Link Meta Decks because of Link Monsters and stopping their attacks.
Because I use Sphere Kuriboh protection and battle position change. But does nothing against Link Monster attacks.
Honestly, hearing Zane laugh in the background is legit one of the funniest GX things I've heard (minus Zaloog Walken)
Zane knows Cyrus deck is lame😂
This gives me an idea…
You know how a lot of Superheroes have their own iconic vehicles (The Batmobile, the Invisible Jet, The Spider Buggy, etc…)
I was thinking that HERO monsters can have their own “HERO-Mobile” Roid monsters that would serve as their own vehicles of choice. Especially since their users were besties in the GX anime.

serious question: can they update yugioh cards? I feel like once printed you can't add 'counts as vehicroid' to new prints because what if I still have an old one where this is not stated?
One of the best parts of this video was that one message from twitch chat
"This deck has potential I swear"
SOMEONE will pull off that Flying elephant win in a legit duel.... SOMEONE will. XD
Might as well repeat a part of the video that applies here "Why......why?"
They really made a GaoGaiGar reference and then make it suck, huh.
@@genesisera8364 sadly.
Also the new one looks a reference to Metroplex from Transformers.
They only did it to make the game faster
@@theorycrafters7281 I understand that, but I'm just referring to everything else about it. Nitpicking for sure

But it's funny that Dark Jeroid also part of it
I mean
If they made summoned skull and og gazelle part of archetypes by including "this card is also always treated as an x archetype card" , it can work with these too and, it could indeed fix a lot
But if they need a gameplan, or a way to get salvation, they need *really good support* repaired genex controller style, you know?
Or jus insert a (This card is always treated as a “Vehicroid” Card) in their texts
"Do you know what I found out?" Hilariously gold.😂😂
Challenge accepted. I'll make the best Vehicroid support the world has ever seen. Also, why is Mixeroid a wind monster? Why Konami, why?!
Fun obscure fact about Gyroid: in the old GX GBA game, Duel Academy, this was one of the cards in some the best Final Countdown deck, which allowed ya to grind a lot of that games currency
I used to play that game as a kid.
The slow decent into madness that was displayed as you sacrificed your soul to play vehicle-roids is interesting
Yeah once you play syrus archetype. You QUICKLY understand WHY the writers of GX gave syrus zanes archtypes.
Also degraded Zanes character all together. Trying to claim Syrus surpassed Zane despite nothing of the sort happened
Yea, surpassing someone who is not at his best isn't really an achievement.
Fun fact: In yugioh master duel, all the stats on the vehicroid secret box are half that of the cyber dragons secret box.
Man... They really gotta tell the truth like that, huh?
Been thinkin on this for a bit, and i can fix the entire archetype with one card. Just writing this here so if konami comes out with it, i can say i thought of it first ;
Vehicroid Retrofit ; all fusion monsters listing non tuner, non synchro roid monsters are considered Vehicroids, and have their attribute and type changed to Earth Machine.
How Syrus got anywhere with this deck, let alone Obelisk Blue, is the biggest suspension of disbelief the anime ever gave us
I love that they looked at Vehicroids, gave them UFOroid which is a machine searching version of Giant Rat and co.
And their reaction was "this will be game breaking. Make it a level 6 1200/1200 monster stat!"
The 1200/1200 kinda makes sense but why level 6?
Lol.
Another way to fix the archetype is to just change the “roid” portion of their names to all capital letters like they did with the HERO archetype
this archetype was my absolute favorite as a kid. i spent a lot of time and my parents money pulling for this and all i had to show for it was an ultimate uforoid which to be fair i thought was the coolest.

Convinced Konami just hates “best friend” characters with what they did to -Roids & Red-Eyes. It’s sad how bad they’ve made them. Least they could have done is try to allow some synergy between -Roids and Speedroids but Cy really not allowed to have nice things.
Counter point: Blackwings and Salamangreats belong to “best friend” characters
Last time they release good card for "Best friend" it ended with eldlitch summon dragun set 3 floodgate pass.

fun fact; super vehicroid Stealth union is a reference to GaoGaiGar, and 3 of the 4 monsters that make it up are identical to the machines in that show; the train, drill and jet. no lion for the main chest though.
It’s funny that you mentioned that Barbaroid is made of 5 unreleased roid monsters because the shocking reality is, there’s around 15 monsters from the manga that never got released (Carrier, Shuttle, Armor and Barba were the only ones released) on top of their S/T, so they could give them a huge wave of support just releasing some of these guys with updated effects
Also includes a version of Stealthroid that looks and functions different from the TCG version, probably would need a rename when released
So first things first, we need more fusion monsters, cards like patroid/jetroid/decoyroid should have more options to go into than pair cycroid or mobile base.
Second, it'd be cool if they reworked some old cards like they did with Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. They created "Neo Blue-eyes..."
If they gave cards like steam gyroid a neo form to switch into more modern "Roid" decks, it'd make the card more viable.
They could fix Dragonroid and Mixeroid by either changing the names or inserting a clause that excludes Speedroids à la Frogs excluding Frog the Jam.
16:13 My eye literally twitched. Feels like Game Freak designed this archetype with how many monkey's paws there are
I hate that they went with 'non-WIND "roid" monster', when they could have done what some other archetypes have done and said 'Machine "roid" monster (except "Speedroid" monsters)'.
Can the Vehicroid archetype be saved?
Honestly, it's possible. Retraining some of the fusions can help, but won't be good enough to make it viable. I can think of a couple card ideas.
1) "Super Vehicroid Reconstruction Area"
Continuous Spell
Effect: During your Main Phase, you can Fusion Summon one Machine-Type "-roid" monster from your Extra Deck by banishing the listed materials from your hand, field, GY, or Deck. If the summoning of the Fusion monster by this effect is successful, apply the following effects based on where the materials came from.
Hand: Draw 1 card
Field: The Fusion-summoned monster is unaffected by your opponent's card effects until the End Phase
GY: Once, if the Fusion-summoned monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect, it is not.
Rollout!
Trap
Effect: Select one Fusion Machine-Type "-roid" monster from your Extra Deck that has listed names as materials. SS all the named materials from your hand, Deck, or GY in Defense position. Those monsters' effects are negated and are destroyed during the End Phase.
Just a couple ideas.
rank10 trains did what vehicroids couldn't especially in regards to the field spell
One of my personal favorite combos with this archetype is using chain material, and vehicroid connection zone. It's a bit slow, but this can cheat out all of their vehicroid fusions, while also being protected by chain materials destruction effect
20:57 "punching down" is one of the funniest things you've said in this video and trading cards i love it
Imagine if they did retrains of this archetype, making sure that said retrains have "Vehicroid" in their name. Would help with their viability
i would say the vehicroid deck is one of those archetypes that benefited from the rules of the anime, with only 4k life points, the strategy of stalling your opponents attacks long enough for you to attack through them directly for game, is so much easier and that is their wincon. still not the greatest strategy but back in the day in that anime... it was definitely a better strategy than jaden's deck i would say
but in modern yugioh where traps mean nothing, tons of removal, tons of cards with protection, tons of negates... that does nothing, also helps that in the anime staples rarely exist lol
It's like Konami is going out of their way to make each wave of Vehicroid support bad and incompatible with each other
The only other archetype who gets worse support is Red-Eyes
The funny thing is I actually like Red Eyes Black Dragon and feel bad for it
As someone who once upon a time favored machine types, this archetype hurt me. I mean it was a miracle Cyrus got any kind of win in the show.
Honestly, I feel like this architect needs a full reboot like all of them to Vickroy and maybe throw some more spelling trap monsters that help with fusion thing
7:41
So the only fusion monster that I have the materials for, (Amulance Rescueroid), I still don't have a card to conduct a fusion summon for it with?
Darn it Vehicroid Connection Zone! Gone a decade thinking I could use it, gotten the matterials from the same booster pack... The curse of only being allowed single booster packs, no starter decks, too expensive.
funny that new roid support adds the "non-wind roid" but the most recent one, dragonroid, is a wind monster
Wow, this video makes me wanna start a project where I take old and forgotten archtypes like "Roids" and give them a small boost in effects and card design and make fun proxy decks out of them.
They need a branded fusion like effect and that would barely be enough to make them playable
Makes it near useless, as it basically can't beat over any boss monsters.
funny how steam gyroid at least got something when ready fusion came out.
1:26 I was wonna say what that there is no support even for the lols until I saw that and said out loud THAT IS RIGHT REALITY IS THE BEST COMEDY.
I think that the vehicroid deck has potential for being saved
They just need a few things changed/added:
1) naming scheme overhaul
2) Spell card searcher (E-Call but for them)
3) 1 more generic-esque fusion (Pair Cycroid like but instead of 2 with the same name maybe 3 with different ones?)
4) some form of protection
5) 1 or 2 more support cards similar to Mixeroid.
Don’t forget adding the manga roids monsters and spells/traps as well
Stealth Union: "Who are you?"
Chaos Ancient Gear Giant: "I'm you, but better in every way"
Super Vehicroid-Mobile Base is straight up Metroplex from Transformers. You know an archetype is some garbage when they have a busted Counter Trap like Emergeroid Call and it does nothing to help them.
When I was a kid I had a Steamroid, and it’s still one of my favorite cards

It's like they took the idea of Transformers and thought, "Okay, how can we make this as terrible as possible?"
Super Vehicroid - Stealth Union is also a reference to GaoGaiGar Anime in case no one noticed just minus the Lion Chest Piece
To paraphrase Rata: These are a bunch of random pack filler cards with no synergy that were printed as an archetype for whatever reason.
What makes Stealth Union even worse, as a fan of mecha, is that it most likely based on GaoGaiGar.
Hopt
- Fusion summon 1 "roid" fusion monster by banishing materials from your hand or GY.
And let's not forget, the Solidroads (They need to be printed, would likely be generic and usable) are Getter Robo forms.

WHOA
To be honest, Vehicroids deserved better. They still should be an underdog type deck, but, this is just sad, man. To make them better they'd need:
1.) A full Archetypal rename (or an errata that makes them all count as 'Vehicroid' monsters) and change their effects to just specifying Vehicroids. So instead of 'non-wind roid monsters' ON FREAKING WIND MONSTERS (I cannot overstate how much that pisses me off by the way) they get access to everything in archetype, and it'd mean those fusion monsters can be summoned BY their fusion spell
2.) A lot more search power, better starters and extenders, because they need some way to search fusion spells or ways to turn one monster summon into a bunch of other monsters so they can afford to run MORE fusions.
(Or an effect negate but shh)
4.) Better ways to get INTO their bosses, give them an Archetypal specific Brilliant Fusion. Only summons Vehicroids, only sends Vehicroids, hell give it a similar thing where they lose stats but make it so you discard a monster to give it its stats back. Could even go a step further on restrictions and make it so it can only send specifically named ones, so you can still get stuff like Stealth Union, Jumbo Drill, even Cyrus' favorite card-
5.) Better effects on their other monsters.
Anyway, I really like Libromancers, I know they weren't ever used in the anime, but I think we've moved past the point they can be used, and I'd love a deck breakdown mostly for the story of the characters, because it seems to jump around a lot and some things are kinda unclear to me, but I think it'd be a fun story all the same
You can distort the audio, but I still recognize that Mario Kart 64 "You lose" tune LOL
😁
They have to make them like magnets in a way add a better version of them mix with them.
I love this type of machine type monster archetype called vehicroid
So, basically, we need to build a Timemachine and go back to when these Cards where originally designed, and tell the Designers to improve their Ideas
that's right, we need to go back in time to when these cards where originally designed, and tell the designers to improve their ideas
They’ve made a bunch of cards that say “non-wind roid monster”, and then they keep making more wind roid monsters.
They like the roids as much as fire likes ice
I Iove how speedroids are like the younger more successful brother of vehicroids
hero survived this long thanks to konami actually releasing the better heroes fusion from the manga early on
so i do hope vehicleroid will too in the future
Why didn't the support cards just say "Search for a roid monster except a speedroid" we see them do something like this with other cards notably any fusion search now says "except wave motion difusion"
*YES*
IT'S THAT SIMPLE!
Hehe, "train wreck"
I mean they made genex have *a game plan* with a single link minster
So perphaps..... it's not impossible
don't you mean a Steamroid wreck?
Super Vehicroid Stealth Union really is just a defanged GaoGaiGar design wise. Cool.
YGO have many Tokusatsu and Tokusatsu inspired series references hahaha
I always wanted to see this deck goes up against the other archetype, Morphtronic! ❤👍
I believe the way to make Roids work(as in: have an identity and goals, not be meta) lies in the 5 German number Roids from the manga plus the gy fusion spell
Change Einroid's effect to work when sent to the gy in anyway (EX:Megaroid city or a Link Kuriboh) and give numbers 3-5 good effects like searching(for the field/fusion spells and counter trap) when sent to gy, then you have something to aim for. since Dragon and Mixer (and one for one) can get you to it consistently
plus the 5 manga roids could all have a shared effect to be counted as the named roid fusion materials so you can just used them to make the older Vehicroid fusion if you need too
Also if this archetype gets a way to search for Limiter Removal it can aim for an OTK goal. that card is already in the Vehicoid pack in Master Duel
