    Amazing work. I’m exhausted just watching. DA pulls out roots the size of an eagle’s nest, cuts open a cast iron pipe, runs up and down three flights of stairs, lugs a small suitcase that contains 100 pounds of gear, locates a blockage just by sense, digs a hole at the exact place of the blockage, blasts out concrete in the pipe, and then clears the drain so it functions. Wow! DA is also the Drain Deity, the Drain Surgeon, the Drain Wrangler, the Drain King, the Drain Boss, the Drain General, the Drain Ruler, etc. Best channel on TH-cam!

      But why the hell was there concrete (was it was actually real sand/cement/stones concrete) in the pipe in the first place? Who pours concrete down a drain pipe?

    • @xl000
      @xl000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@simontay4851 roots damaged a PVC pipe somewhere, broke it, then it got worse. At some point point I assume, stuffs that are around the pipe just start falling into it, like the stones at 2:23
      The root cause is that plants root are able to break PVC given enough time, but it's never really mentioned. Just look up "Do tree roots grow in PVC pipe" on Google / TH-cam. This is real problem that needs to be solved.

    Wowsers!! I still can't get over the fact that water heaters and pipes above ground. Here in Canada, those would freeze completely and bust in our winters. Summers wouldn't be too bad, but winters are brutal here. Glad to see that your listening skills are top notch. You were pretty bang on with the pipe.. maybe an inch or three off, but not enough to have to dig up the whole yard looking. Great job, length was just about right.. maybe Justin can keep a running commentary when able about what you are doing and what you need to do to get this pipe cleaned out and working again. I know you (Ollie) really doesn't have time, as you are hustling your butt all over to find all the blockages. Good call on the blockage from the cast pipe. Concrete isn't a good thing to have in there. Great work, and these longer ones are perfect. lol Have a great day gents!!!

      @MittyNuke1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where the weather never goes below freezing temperature you can get away with exposed sewer piping and outdoor water heater + water piping as shown. That wouldn't last long here in Rhode Island either! But as it's starting to get cooler now, I wouldn't mind a nice warm climate like that :)

You'll notice he feeds the line and then hold on to the line at the point of the clog. Then without moving his hand from that spot walks out the distant till the line returns to the top giving him a rough estimation of where to feel out for the vibrations and center in on it from there. Still very impressive!

    Concrete in the pipes is what happens when the Brickies aren't paid ...

    • @peteb2
      @peteb2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Or when the site next door does some retaining wall repairs but the concrete pump operator doesn't give a toss where his overflow runs away to. Had to lift all my buried PVC rain runoff feeders to the street gutter and bash out the half choke cement & then re-bury it.
