2:29 was the beginning of Joe Bob's enduring appeal. No matter who you are or where you come from, we all gather together in the spirit of fun and partying. The world truly needed Joe Bob Briggs to return and thank you Shudder for allowing that to happen.
I am 44 and just rediscovered monstervision /last drive in /joe bob goodness. My childhood /adolescents! Joe bob is so entertaining and a showman. What an American original. Classic!
I grew up in the D/FW area and used to watch him on TMC and TNT but didn't know until a few years ago that he was from here. His time as a local celebrity ended by the time I was 5 (and not reading newspapers) and he moved on to the national stage. When I started watching him as a teen on TMC I figured it was some non-Southern actor doing a Southern character or something. I don't know why. I guess he was so satirical that I figured he wasn't really from here. It wasn't until I was watching an old Monstervision episode and he was talking about driving around Grapevine (where I used to deliver pizzas back in the days when Monstervision was actually on) that I looked it up and saw about his past around here.
took a backroad (Texas) the other day and was thinking "man these folks must specialize in dirt, mud, and pond digging, and sure enough I see signs posted on trees about dirt pits and dirt for sale haha
His "Death": was actually his way of referring to the time his original movie review column "Joe Bob Goes to the Drive-In" got axed by the Dallas Times-Herald due to them not liking his parody of "We are the World" called "We Are the Weird"

Anywhere there's a lot of construction, from East to West coast, you'll see signs for people selling fill dirt.
Thanks for this.

Young Joe Bob looks and sounds so much like Andy Pettite lol
How did he perform stand up comedy right after he died? That doesn't make sense.
