I completely understand why, but you can't complain about ANYTHING in a game when you dont even play it, just for a chance to get something to make you look pretty.
I’m on the series x, started playing after the show. Game has been running totally fine up until the new expansion for me. Now I’ve noticed a little bit of lag from time to time. Game crashed 3 times during the same daily op yesterday, once when I was at my camp yesterday as well l and more then a handful of times during the new Neurological Warfare event (that has been really annoying for sure) I’ve made a habit of joining teams now for when the game decides to crash, I can just rejoin the current team.. usually lol

The constant crashes/freezes on Playstation make AFKing difficult. During an 8 hour shift of work, I'm lucky to get 3 sets of rewards before I'm frozen or on a report crash screen when I get home.
Sometimes. Yeah. I don't AFK (oskapt obviously does) I just the actual event every 3 or 4 hours every day, and honestly, maybe once a week there's server wonk. It hasn't been a big deal.
Game runs like shit on ps5 and I just give up with events cause 9 times out of 10 it’s gonna crash on me and otherwise I don’t have time for the shit due to work.. I can afk while asleep and during my 12 hour work shift and do it 5 days out the week and get maybe like 6 rewards in total.. bugthesda need to fix/optimize their game.
I had a problem with getting my controller to AFK on Xbox. I had to rubber band my sticks. Turn on Spotify and play some kinda music. Then I had to plug a headphone into the controller to make it think I am still active. Just a suggestion for those who keep getting kicked for inactivity on Xbox.
Those of us who have been around for awhile are more likely to afk. There are reasons for that. First of all, those first couple years? Fasnaucht came around 4 times a year, maybe more. We've put a lot of time in at Fasnaucht. Done the event more times than we can count. So yes, I'll sit on the tuba and put a rubber band on my controller while I go do laundry. It's very rare to find that many people afk'd at these events, but if you do, just switch servers.
@@matronmalice9867 that's not server lag, it's your shitty hardware lag. And, to rub some salt in your whining, most of the time everything dies so fast I can't even tag it.
I find that dying and staying dead in the area of the event is more beneficial as all of my conditions on my food pause until i respawn and if i die in a less busy area (i found the back of the church is a good spot) im less likely to freeze/crash. When i respawn (if it hasnt froze) i get a load of pop ups for completing the event and all the rewards. If you die during the event, you immediately respawn without a choice so if you choose this method, die before the event.
does this still work? i died before mothman started but when i got out of afk i did not receive the rewards. although i did get a pop-up that i completed the event afterwards. I went to pipboy > New but it was empty.

I don't care about those that AFK or those that choose to nuke, its just a game! What we need to do is EVERYONE complain to Bethesda about the drop rate of the masks and the state of the servers. I'm sick of crashing out and then not being able to get on ANY server until the event is over. Even if I'm on a team I re join and get a black screen. I have all the common and uncommon masks but non of the rare not even the old ones, it's ridiculous.
I have the same issue with getting the black screen trying to load in, particularly if I was just blue screened while running the event. Luckily, I got one of the rare masks today, the Demon mask.
@@scottkendrix6231 I don't think the servers can cope with how many more players there are, and last week in the UK it was half term for schools so even more than usual. I had no problems yesterday but still no rare mask. Still i will keep grinding the temptation to AFK at night is becoming more and more tempting, knowing my luck my Xbox would probably blow up lol. Pro tip: if you AFK in the candle maker's house, its near where the guaranteed legendary enemies spawn. When you return to play you can often loot an extra legendary or two this way. Its not much but an extra little something.
if you put it in 3rd person amd holster your weapon, you can spin the camera and your character will stay still. this makes chameleon armor a good thing.
@domevans2725 I tried this directly to xbox, tried Rubberband stick to stick, on instrument and right stick only, etc. Either my xbox series x has a setting I do not know about, the controller does or something else. Also tried with a series one and xbox series x set of controllers and listening to pandora and Spotify. Its honestly most likely a me issue but ty for the suggestion
@@Eb74 yuh I tested it out yesterday with my controller wireless and it just disconnected after like 20min like u said, I then had it plugged in all night and never disconnected, I’m on series S and when I first got it I had to turn off sleep mode cuz it was already on oddly it could be cuz of that but who knows, I hope u figure it out sometime before the event ends today 👍
Lol I’m guilty of AFKing (doing it right now) but I do that as well. Bring enemies to the AFKs. 😂 plus I’m in an underground base with my drop trap set up so people can’t do that to me. But I can still get nuked.
I'm an active player most of the time with events, but I just sit my character down and play guitar until Fasnacht is completed. It's a good time to make a drink, get something to eat or go to the bathroom. I don't AFK for hours, but it's good for short breaks.
I personally don't care about afk people. My bf told me that. The other night when was afk for a few min. That a few ppl were attacking me. I just started laughing. Like seriously? Why cant we simply pause the game?!
sit down to play and rubberband the right stick so your view loops. that'll keep you from standing and also keep you from getting logged out for being idle (no movement from the controller)
I have no problem with Fasnacht afk'ers until they eventually become the majority of people on the server. Even then, it's a minor headache compared to the people who nuke the event.
Bethesda keeps adding more rare masks with keeping them at an abysmal total 5 percent drop chance. You're also limited to running the stupid thing once an hour, which severely limits the numbers of rolls you get on the rng wheel. Even with two accounts running this nonstop for days I've only gotten a couple of rare masks so far. Also, mission is fun for maybe 5-10 times, but it takes so effing long that you really can't complain that ppl end up AFK Farming this.
I have done it like 10 times but just got my first regular unicorn mask lol I'm sure I'll get 1 hopefully I mean I'm over level 700 but it only drops to the new players that won't even be playing next month smh
Yes you can. I'm tired of running it myself. I work and by the time I'm home most people are AFK and I can't hop servers for hours because work. It's really annoying. They need to fix drop rates. They're worse than most gacha games.

theres nothing random about it, when you log in you have a set number, and that number is what you will get for that hour, period. NOTHING about these drops is random.

The problem with this answer is that there might not be time to make it to the event on another server. Also, if they wanted to bring a friend on to their team, they can’t if the server’s already full (of AFKers).
If you AFK Fastnacht, you are relying on others to do the work to complete the event for you. No wonder FoxyRaven-TV nukes the event, why should players who actually participate do it so you can get rewarded.

Here are my tips. AFK in the area where the parade ends and start your own public team. That way you’ll still be able to claim the loot from the Mega Sloth. You can also farm small amounts of ammo from the wolves only if you have a gun equipped. Don’t use the rubber band AFK method, that will damage your controller. Instead, open up the pause menu with the map and tape down one of the buttons that either zooms in or zooms out of the map. I recommend masking tape so the adhesive doesn't get onto your controller.
You can AFK through a nuke. At any time while the event is not running, die within the event radius of helvatia. Click respawn, but do not select a area to respawn. Instead, rubber band the right stick. When the event occurs you will get the rewards. If it's nuked, since you're technically already dead you won't die again. But you must be on the map screen. If you leave the if you leave the if you leave it where the camera is spinning around your dead character, you will not get rewards, as far as I know.
Just a couple of nights ago, there were like six other people listed in Fasnacht, but I was literally the only person doing it. Yeah, I did the entire Fasnacht by myself. You're welcome.
Crashes are worse because you can't get into a server that has an event that's still active. How do you re-spawn after being nuked? Someone dropped one mid event and I somehow spawned back exactly were I was when the bomb dropped and I don't have mysterious savior on.

I can't lie I was one of those people who would get upset about the afk people getting rewards for doing nothing, until I remembered the fact that at one point I had to work out of town for the entire work week and would work 9 to 10 hours a day. Meaning people like that cant do the event but like 2 or 3 times actually playing, and than it becomes a chore not a game. Now I afk just to make the people that drop nukes mad.

AFK’s actually put less stress on the servers because they’re not moving/shooting/ causing explosions etc. and for those that think dropping a nuke is some service to the people who actually have time to play, jokes on you 😂 Even dead AFK’s get loot. Yes. Lame. We noticed that they don't show up in the old glass displays either. they do work on allies though, so that's a cool way to show them off. But sad that we can't put them on the wall.

Dying is irrelevant. You can be nuked, die, the rad zone clears and Fasnacht continues. People do complete a nuked Fashnacht. You will still collect all rewards even if at the respawn screen. More fun to come back in the morning, respawn and watch 8 "event complete" cycles happen.

Not sure if people who claim that nuking Fasnacht does nothing to get rid of AFK'ers, they are wrong, it does get rid of them after 20 mins unless they are not AFK and respawn and go back to AFK'ing.
Honestly there is afk players but players will do anything just to get a rare mask....thats why sometimes ppl nuke just to try something different...or slow walk the whole march!!!

Active New Players can server hop Log out and back in again, you are preventing no one from doing the event except the AFK people because they aren't watching.

Clearly no platform is safe from the Angry Nukers 😆 Fastnacht was hit on PC today, and I just waited it out, I had already removed all junk so there was nothing to rush back in for, I wanted the screen shots of the Nuke falling on the town, honestly nuking the event is pointless, cannot even get a good harvest of nuked flora from it. when I saw the nuke was inbound I just put my Chinese Stealth Armour on and ran back to my spot to end the event, few if any others left, but it did look odd in the last 20 seconds before the nuke hit how the town went real quiet...
You can get the masks by two other ways. Trading for them(friends will do this) or buy them from someone else. It annoys me when people are nuking the event. They are affecting the players who are just playing the game regularly. My opinion is don't be that ass by nuking.
yes. Both excellent points. Trading and buying is very easy especially during and right after the event. If you visit enough players, you can get all the masks pretty quickly. Nuking the event SUCKS. I personally never AFK, and it's a downer when I come in every hour to play and get nuked. But oh well, there are SO many events during the day. -No0dlP4ntz
Buy them? Have fun spending $40+ for one of them. I'd never spend that much money on something so basic. A simple mask that does nothing being worth that much is ridiculous to me. LOL AFKing is not playing the game regularly because you are not actually playing the game. You've jammed your controls and F'd off. Besides, Nuking things (even Helvetia) is a regular thing to do in the game. People just have to deal with people AFKing and people just have to deal with the event getting nuked.

I don't like the AFK thing and have been even soloing the event, but a few days ago, the damn game started freezing every single time i join the event. (XBOX) So now i'm thinking if i want masks i have no choice. if i move it freezes.

I never have afked the event but now that I got a job and don’t have time to grind little by little like I used too I sit in the Corner I have a plug in controller I use my plug in cord to tie around my controller so I constantly walking into something it makes this event easier
If you're not sitting you can get pushed out of Helvetia. Sit on a chair or you get pushed to Sutton. Some people push into the water and the rads do the work.
I've enjoyed nuking the event the past couple of years. It's a rich source for flux raw materials and most players have CSA or PA so they don't mind; even new players can use hazmat suits and get along swimmingly. After I scour the area between events, I hop servers and do it again. The side effect is that it does clear AFKers, but I chalk that up to them being in the wrong place at the wrong time. ☢ I haven't nuked the event this year because I'm on hiatus between seasons. I never wear Fasnacht masks and the new masks aren't compelling enough to entice me to play.
In the last event i did there was 20 at the event and 17 were afk and the event was difficult when the super mutants came out but everyone got a mask, all those who did nothing... and not a single one was playing an instrument at the band stand.

3 is the minimum number of people needed to complete the event. With one good DPS and one healer it can be done. So 17 people could still afk and it'd be fine. Me and my friends tested this extensively. On Twitch.
Afk the event is bad for the game ...i run radiation rumble wirh a few level30 and it suck because 3/4 of server is afk and i run into alot of empty worlds that are full...and only time i got a flowing mask was when they nule the event kill the afk =glow mask...just saying
As someone who works most of the day, almost all week, and doesnt have time to play when they get off work, or have an off day, AFKing is really the only way to get any good momentos from this event.
This event is designed to NEVER have you get all the masks EVEN if you AFK. So there is no reason to be upset by those AFK people, who are only wasting their time and the joke's on them. You can only play the event 336 times total (24 times per day times 14 days) even if you AFK. But you are expected to play 959 times to get all 5 new rare masks. If you've already got 16 of the 21 rare masks, the chance to get the 17th is 0.238% x 5 = 1.19%, and that will take 84 tries (1 / 1.19% = 84). To get the 18th, you have 0.238% x 4 = 0.952% = 105 tries. 19th = 0.238% x 3 = 0.714% = 140 tries. 20th = 0.238% x 2 = 0.476% = 210 tries. And the last one, 0.238% x 1 = 420 tries. Add them all up, 84 + 105 + 140 + 210 + 420 = 959 is expected number of tries you need to get the 5 new rare masks. Bethesda doesn't have to do A THING, because AFK will never work. That's why so many people are still play this event -- because a majority of them still haven't got all the masks.
And if you have zero rare mask, you should expect to need 1536 tries to get all 21. Basically, 0.238% times the number of remaining rare masks you still haven't got, is your probability of getting the next non-duplicating rare mask. If you have zero mask, you have 0.238% x 21 = 5% chance (20 tries expected: 1 / 5% = 20) to get the next non-duplicating rare mask. After that, it's 0.238% x 20, 0.238% x 19, and so on. Add up all the number of tries, and it's 1536. That's why AFK is useless. Sure, there may some people who will get 21 rare masks in very few number of tries. But a majority of you will need hundreds and thousands.
THAT’S why Helvetia is constantly being nuked? Until this moment I genuinely thought it was a clever way for people to farm flux components off all the animals that spawn. I admit I have afk during the event, (I mostly log on and join in the mornings, an actually run the event, killing things to get the xp an whatnot. I run it about 4 ot 5 times (mostly cause I have 5 hours free in the mornings where I can play (I dont JUST do the fasnacht event. I'm doing other crap like my dailies and some skyline quests too... but when its time for me to log off and go to work or whatever I gotta do for the day... I just go in one of the buildings or play the musical instruments and just AFK for 5 to 6 hours, come back an check on it during launch, got most the masks, thou I didnt get the rare rare ones, most I got are like 3 owl masks! (an since I already had one at the beginning I now have 4 lol I just give them to my friends. or drop my duplicates to some random player
I do it because the masks look good and the rare one go for high caps or rare trades. Late game, your def ain’t really important since you’re already strong so you go for looks. Can’t be on all day because I’m busy so this is my best option while I’m away from the game
i run 2 accounts and am afk-ing both right now. i ran the event probably 12 times today. got booted and missed a couple. they owe me for the blue/black screens.

I recommend not doing the rubber band thing to your joysticks because that will permanently damage your controller. Instead, pull up the pause menu with the map, take a piece of masking tape, and tape down either the L2 button or the R2 button so that you’ll either zoom into the map or zoom out of the map.
sometimes if you die, you keep getting rewards. for hours even. i've seen guys killing themselves on purpose to do this. i'm not 100% sure how it works.

I'm usually in a corner in time out . But my reason is , 12 hour rotating shifts . Also this ONCE PER YEAR event unfortunately fell on an outage at work . But I'm " remote playing " it on my iPad with my works peasant Wi-Fi . So ill pop a couple of lunchboxes and go back into my corner because that's the only way my game wont crash . BUT when I'm home , i repay my depts.
I discovered completely by accident that my bed in my CAMP is in the Event zone. I can sleep in my bed or play guitar for boons while I earn. I still run it for real occasionally especially if it’s not crowded. I’ve crashed and missed rewards 4x yesterday so I’ve earned some AFK.
Legit had no luck actually playing every event but the FIRST event I ever afked I got the loon mask 💯💯 fck actually doing the event at this point🤣 my rubber band is strong for the next week
I am not trying to afk but what I do almost has the same result. I am always incumbers so by the time I get to the the event it is almost over. most of the time I just get to the event in time to get the rewards. how dose the event start. I would like to be there at the start of the event to help
I used to think AFK was bad, but that was then, and this is now, LOL! The main reason I AFK (AFC for consoles) is if I find a good server, I'll AFK between events, and go about my business, but I try to help at the top of the hour. The PS5 stinks at AFKing, because it can only run a few hours, before crashing, leaving me with little to nothing overnight. So far, I've only got the glowing turkey, but I really want the glowing alien, LOL! Such is life in the wasteland... And as for getting nuked and dying, that actually helps AFK players, and makes doing the event a pain, for new players anyway... In the meantime, I'm getting quite the collection of other rare masks, like the death claw, robot, loon, etc... At the end, we get what we get, and have bartering stock as well, LOL!
I have about 40 min a day to play but I can leave it running all day. I would NEVER get anything if I couldn't afk. People need to chill, especially if you're on your 6th hour of your daily 12 hour game session. Just help a guy out cuz I'd love to be participating.
Be sure you are playing instruments so you can't get dumped into the river by a chainsaw wielding griefer. Have Ricochet perk card equipped and a vampire weapon chosen. Max your health and put on your Chinese stealth armor. Also have the health regen serum taken. I came back after working and there was a pile of dead lured enemies around me. I will was still at full health, playing away at the piano.
I only afk if am got to do something for 10 or less minutes im not like some of those greedy bastards out there i already have 3 rare masks if i dont get anymore its fine
You are going AFK the wrong way if getting nuked disrupts it. Kill yourself inside of the event area when it's not active, select respawn, go to the respawn map, don't respawn and then initiate your AFK controls on the respawn map. You will still collect rewards and be completely unaffected by attempts from players to punt you from the event area, even if they nuke the event. PS: Game freezes, crashes and bad internet connections can still happen and obviously remove you from the server
I have been trying to do the event and have run into many issues disconnecting from the server from doing basic things like running or eating. Also the wait time to get back in stinks! So I've just started trying the afk way to possibly get the other masks. (Also had a bit of a starstruck moment when I saw No0dlP4ntz in the event! *,* ❤)

AFK in the house at the end of the street on the right. Go upstairs and into the shower. This location is ideal because players rarely go into this building. Less chance of being grieved by AFK haters.
One server is limited to 24 Players, 7 Players AFK in Helvetia, the rest are new, then when i tried to join Rad Rumble or Eviction Notice be like WHERE IS EVERYBODY???!!!?

The constant crashes/freezes on Playstation make AFKing difficult. During an 8 hour shift of work, I'm lucky to get 3 sets of rewards before I'm frozen or on a report crash screen when I get home.
Sometimes. Yeah. I don't AFK (oskapt obviously does) I just the actual event every 3 or 4 hours every day, and honestly, maybe once a week there's server wonk. It hasn't been a big deal.

Game runs like shit on ps5 and I just give up with events cause 9 times out of 10 it’s gonna crash on me and otherwise I don’t have time for the shit due to work.. I can afk while asleep and during my 12 hour work shift and do it 5 days out the week and get maybe like 6 rewards in total.. bugthesda need to fix/optimize their game.
If your on pc you can just bind the spacebar to moving forward, and just place something heavy on it.

I had a problem with getting my controller to AFK on Xbox. I had to rubber band my sticks. Turn on Spotify and play some kinda music. Then I had to plug a headphone into the controller to make it think I am still active.

Those of us who have been around for awhile are more likely to afk. There are reasons for that. First of all, those first couple years? Fasnaucht came around 4 times a year, maybe more. We've put a lot of time in at Fasnaucht. Done the event more times than we can count. So yes, I'll sit on the tuba and put a rubber band on my controller while I go do laundry. It's very rare to find that many people afk'd at these events, but if you do, just switch servers.

I find that dying and staying dead in the area of the event is more beneficial as all of my conditions on my food pause until i respawn and if i die in a less busy area (i found the back of the church is a good spot) im less likely to freeze/crash. When i respawn (if it hasnt froze) i get a load of pop ups for completing the event and all the rewards. If you die during the event, you immediately respawn without a choice so if you choose this method, die before the event.
does this still work? i died before mothman started but when i got out of afk i did not receive the rewards. although i did get a pop-up that i completed the event afterwards. I went to pipboy > New but it was empty.

I don't care about those that AFK or those that choose to nuke, its just a game! What we need to do is EVERYONE complain to Bethesda about the drop rate of the masks and the state of the servers. I'm sick of crashing out and then not being able to get on ANY server until the event is over. Even if I'm on a team I re join and get a black screen. I have all the common and uncommon masks but non of the rare not even the old ones, it's ridiculous.

I have the same issue with getting the black screen trying to load in, particularly if I was just blue screened while running the event. Luckily, I got one of the rare masks today, the Demon mask.

I've run the event 126 times and only have 4 rares. Supposedly you should get a rare every 20 run throughs, not always the case though.
Pro tip: if you AFK in the candle maker's house, its near where the guaranteed legendary enemies spawn. When you return to play you can often loot an extra legendary or two this way. Its not much but an extra little something.

if you put it in 3rd person amd holster your weapon, you can spin the camera and your character will stay still. this makes chameleon armor a good thing.
Tried this but for some reason the controller dc's after 20 to 30 minutes and the game 5 minutes after.

@domevans2725 I tried this directly to xbox, tried Rubberband stick to stick, on instrument and right stick only, etc. Either my xbox series x has a setting I do not know about, the controller does or something else. Also tried with a series one and xbox series x set of controllers and listening to pandora and Spotify. Its honestly most likely a me issue but ty for the suggestion
@@Eb74 yuh I tested it out yesterday with my controller wireless and it just disconnected after like 20min like u said, I then had it plugged in all night and never disconnected, I’m on series S and when I first got it I had to turn off sleep mode cuz it was already on oddly it could be cuz of that but who knows, I hope u figure it out sometime before the event ends today 👍

Lol I’m guilty of AFKing (doing it right now) but I do that as well. Bring enemies to the AFKs. 😂 plus I’m in an underground base with my drop trap set up so people can’t do that to me. But I can still get nuked.

I'm an active player most of the time with events, but I just sit my character down and play guitar until Fasnacht is completed. It's a good time to make a drink, get something to eat or go to the bathroom. I don't AFK for hours, but it's good for short breaks.

sit down to play and rubberband the right stick so your view loops. that'll keep you from standing and also keep you from getting logged out for being idle (no movement from the controller)

I have no problem with Fasnacht afk'ers until they eventually become the majority of people on the server. Even then, it's a minor headache compared to the people who nuke the event.

Bethesda keeps adding more rare masks with keeping them at an abysmal total 5 percent drop chance. You're also limited to running the stupid thing once an hour, which severely limits the numbers of rolls you get on the rng wheel. Even with two accounts running this nonstop for days I've only gotten a couple of rare masks so far. Also, mission is fun for maybe 5-10 times, but it takes so effing long that you really can't complain that ppl end up AFK Farming this.

theres nothing random about it, when you log in you have a set number, and that number is what you will get for that hour, period. NOTHING about these drops is random.

The problem with this answer is that there might not be time to make it to the event on another server.
Also, if they wanted to bring a friend on to their team, they can’t if the server’s already full (of AFKers).
If you AFK Fastnacht, you are relying on others to do the work to complete the event for you. No wonder FoxyRaven-TV nukes the event, why should players who actually participate do it so you can get rewarded.

If the event was interesting like radiation rumble or eviction notice then hardly anyone would AFK but it’s so bloody boring.
Here are my tips. AFK in the area where the parade ends and start your own public team. That way you’ll still be able to claim the loot from the Mega Sloth. You can also farm small amounts of ammo from the wolves only if you have a gun equipped.
Don’t use the rubber band AFK method, that will damage your controller. Instead, open up the pause menu with the map and tape down one of the buttons that either zooms in or zooms out of the map. I recommend masking tape so the adhesive doesn't get onto your controller.

People going AFK is part of the reason fastnacht keeps getting nuked, guy I know does it for that reason, he likes trolling on there.

You can AFK through a nuke. At any time while the event is not running, die within the event radius of helvatia. Click respawn, but do not select a area to respawn. Instead, rubber band the right stick. When the event occurs you will get the rewards. If it's nuked, since you're technically already dead you won't die again. But you must be on the map screen. If you leave the if you leave the if you leave it where the camera is spinning around your dead character, you will not get rewards, as far as I know.

Crashes are worse because you can't get into a server that has an event that's still active. How do you re-spawn after being nuked? Someone dropped one mid event and I somehow spawned back exactly were I was when the bomb dropped and I don't have mysterious savior on.
I just use a hair band on the right joystick. While playing an instrument this just spins the camera and keeps you from dcing

I can't lie I was one of those people who would get upset about the afk people getting rewards for doing nothing, until I remembered the fact that at one point I had to work out of town for the entire work week and would work 9 to 10 hours a day. Meaning people like that cant do the event but like 2 or 3 times actually playing, and than it becomes a chore not a game. Now I afk just to make the people that drop nukes mad.

Dying is irrelevant. You can be nuked, die, the rad zone clears and Fasnacht continues. People do complete a nuked Fashnacht. You will still collect all rewards even if at the respawn screen. More fun to come back in the morning, respawn and watch 8 "event complete" cycles happen.

Nothing happens. Event fails. If you arrive at an event and you're the only one not AFKing, just go to a different server.

Fastnacht was hit on PC today, and I just waited it out, I had already removed all junk so there was nothing to rush back in for, I wanted the screen shots of the Nuke falling on the town, honestly nuking the event is pointless, cannot even get a good harvest of nuked flora from it.
when I saw the nuke was inbound I just put my Chinese Stealth Armour on and ran back to my spot to end the event, few if any others left, but it did look odd in the last 20 seconds before the nuke hit how the town went real quiet...

You can get the masks by two other ways. Trading for them(friends will do this) or buy them from someone else.
It annoys me when people are nuking the event. They are affecting the players who are just playing the game regularly. My opinion is don't be that ass by nuking.

I never have afked the event but now that I got a job and don’t have time to grind little by little like I used too I sit in the Corner I have a plug in controller I use my plug in cord to tie around my controller so I constantly walking into something it makes this event easier
If you're not sitting you can get pushed out of Helvetia. Sit on a chair or you get pushed to Sutton. Some people push into the water and the rads do the work.

I've enjoyed nuking the event the past couple of years. It's a rich source for flux raw materials and most players have CSA or PA so they don't mind; even new players can use hazmat suits and get along swimmingly. After I scour the area between events, I hop servers and do it again. The side effect is that it does clear AFKers, but I chalk that up to them being in the wrong place at the wrong time. ☢
I haven't nuked the event this year because I'm on hiatus between seasons. I never wear Fasnacht masks and the new masks aren't compelling enough to entice me to play.

In the last event i did there was 20 at the event and 17 were afk and the event was difficult when the super mutants came out but everyone got a mask, all those who did nothing... and not a single one was playing an instrument at the band stand.

3 is the minimum number of people needed to complete the event. With one good DPS and one healer it can be done. So 17 people could still afk and it'd be fine. Me and my friends tested this extensively. On Twitch.

Afk the event is bad for the game ...i run radiation rumble wirh a few level30 and it suck because 3/4 of server is afk and i run into alot of empty worlds that are full...and only time i got a flowing mask was when they nule the event kill the afk =glow mask...just saying

As someone who works most of the day, almost all week, and doesnt have time to play when they get off work, or have an off day, AFKing is really the only way to get any good momentos from this event.

This event is designed to NEVER have you get all the masks EVEN if you AFK. So there is no reason to be upset by those AFK people, who are only wasting their time and the joke's on them. You can only play the event 336 times total (24 times per day times 14 days) even if you AFK. But you are expected to play 959 times to get all 5 new rare masks. If you've already got 16 of the 21 rare masks, the chance to get the 17th is 0.238% x 5 = 1.19%, and that will take 84 tries (1 / 1.19% = 84). To get the 18th, you have 0.238% x 4 = 0.952% = 105 tries. 19th = 0.238% x 3 = 0.714% = 140 tries. 20th = 0.238% x 2 = 0.476% = 210 tries. And the last one, 0.238% x 1 = 420 tries. Add them all up, 84 + 105 + 140 + 210 + 420 = 959 is expected number of tries you need to get the 5 new rare masks. Bethesda doesn't have to do A THING, because AFK will never work. That's why so many people are still play this event -- because a majority of them still haven't got all the masks.
And if you have zero rare mask, you should expect to need 1536 tries to get all 21. Basically, 0.238% times the number of remaining rare masks you still haven't got, is your probability of getting the next non-duplicating rare mask. If you have zero mask, you have 0.238% x 21 = 5% chance (20 tries expected: 1 / 5% = 20) to get the next non-duplicating rare mask. After that, it's 0.238% x 20, 0.238% x 19, and so on. Add up all the number of tries, and it's 1536. That's why AFK is useless. Sure, there may some people who will get 21 rare masks in very few number of tries. But a majority of you will need hundreds and thousands.

Also, thanks for the tips! I’ve never afk’d anything in 76 before, but I literally just got back to the game after a bit of a break and I’m not staying up all night to make up for it. So I’ve parked my dweller at an instrument and went with my own rubber banding method that has resulted in the camera whipping around so fast I had to look away immediately to not get dizzy. I admit I have afk during the event, (I mostly log on and join in the mornings, an actually run the event, killing things to get the xp an whatnot. I run it about 4 ot 5 times (mostly cause I have 5 hours free in the mornings where I can play (I dont JUST do the fasnacht event. I'm doing other crap like my dailies and some skyline quests too... but when its time for me to log off and go to work or whatever I gotta do for the day... I just go in one of the buildings or play the musical instruments and just AFK for 5 to 6 hours, come back an check on it during launch, got most the masks, thou I didnt get the rare rare ones, most I got are like 3 owl masks! (an since I already had one at the beginning I now have 4 lol I just give them to my friends. or drop my duplicates to some random player
Why do this in the first place do these mask do anything ? Adding defence it doesn't matter to me either way I am just curious.
I do it because the masks look good and the rare one go for high caps or rare trades. Late game, your def ain’t really important since you’re already strong so you go for looks. Can’t be on all day because I’m busy so this is my best option while I’m away from the game
i run 2 accounts and am afk-ing both right now. i ran the event probably 12 times today. got booted and missed a couple. they owe me for the blue/black screens.
How do I afk at a instrument on pc with a controller.
sit down to play and rubberband the right stick so your view loops. that'll keep you from standing and also keep you from getting logged out for being idle (no movement from the controller)
I recommend not doing the rubber band thing to your joysticks because that will permanently damage your controller.
Instead, pull up the pause menu with the map, take a piece of masking tape, and tape down either the L2 button or the R2 button so that you’ll either zoom into the map or zoom out of the map.

sometimes if you die, you keep getting rewards. for hours even. i've seen guys killing themselves on purpose to do this. i'm not 100% sure how it works.

I've tried to afk an my controller keeps disconnecting even with rubber banding them and plugging my controller in, such a struggle indeed

I discovered completely by accident that my bed in my CAMP is in the Event zone. I can sleep in my bed or play guitar for boons while I earn. I still run it for real occasionally especially if it’s not crowded. I’ve crashed and missed rewards 4x yesterday so I’ve earned some AFK.
Legit had no luck actually playing every event but the FIRST event I ever afked I got the loon mask 💯💯 fck actually doing the event at this point🤣 my rubber band is strong for the next week

I am not trying to afk but what I do almost has the same result. I am always incumbers so by the time I get to the the event it is almost over. most of the time I just get to the event in time to get the rewards. how dose the event start. I would like to be there at the start of the event to help

I used to think AFK was bad, but that was then, and this is now, LOL!
The main reason I AFK (AFC for consoles) is if I find a good server, I'll AFK between events, and go about my business, but I try to help at the top of the hour.
The PS5 stinks at AFKing, because it can only run a few hours, before crashing, leaving me with little to nothing overnight.
So far, I've only got the glowing turkey, but I really want the glowing alien, LOL!
Such is life in the wasteland...
And as for getting nuked and dying, that actually helps AFK players, and makes doing the event a pain, for new players anyway...
In the meantime, I'm getting quite the collection of other rare masks, like the death claw, robot, loon, etc...
At the end, we get what we get, and have bartering stock as well, LOL!
I have about 40 min a day to play but I can leave it running all day. I would NEVER get anything if I couldn't afk. People need to chill, especially if you're on your 6th hour of your daily 12 hour game session. Just help a guy out cuz I'd love to be participating.

Be sure you are playing instruments so you can't get dumped into the river by a chainsaw wielding griefer. Have Ricochet perk card equipped and a vampire weapon chosen. Max your health and put on your Chinese stealth armor. Also have the health regen serum taken. I came back after working and there was a pile of dead lured enemies around me. I will was still at full health, playing away at the piano.

I only afk if am got to do something for 10 or less minutes im not like some of those greedy bastards out there i already have 3 rare masks if i dont get anymore its fine

You are going AFK the wrong way if getting nuked disrupts it. Kill yourself inside of the event area when it's not active, select respawn, go to the respawn map, don't respawn and then initiate your AFK controls on the respawn map. You will still collect rewards and be completely unaffected by attempts from players to punt you from the event area, even if they nuke the event.
PS: Game freezes, crashes and bad internet connections can still happen and obviously remove you from the server
4:50 attention goofballs if you don’t have a rubber band just put the controller upsidedown on your table so the movement stick it up so you move

I have been trying to do the event and have run into many issues disconnecting from the server from doing basic things like running or eating. Also the wait time to get back in stinks! So I've just started trying the afk way to possibly get the other masks. (Also had a bit of a starstruck moment when I saw No0dlP4ntz in the event! *,* ❤)
I just kept hopping servers until I got the glowing scorch queen mask

AFK in the house at the end of the street on the right. Go upstairs and into the shower. This location is ideal because players rarely go into this building. Less chance of being grieved by AFK haters.

One server is limited to 24 Players, 7 Players AFK in Helvetia, the rest are new, then when i tried to join Rad Rumble or Eviction Notice be like WHERE IS EVERYBODY???!!!?

The glowing scorchbeast and all other glowing masks are rare. The non-glowing versions are uncommon.
Just make it so if your character doesn't participate fully in the event you receive ZERO rewards and that shit would stop
