Good review. I have the Osprey Porter 46, and I’ve been traveling with it for the past 3 years and it has been fantastic!

Not sure but I think due to posting URL links, youtube automatically removed my comment.
    Retyped without URLs:
Great review but a few points to note:
At 9:05 you mentioned the farpoint comparison to your fairview.
    That is incorrect.
Fairview is the female version *equivalent* to the farpoint. Fairview is made to fit the female anatomy better.
    Currently there is
    Fairview 40
    Fairview 55
    Farpoint 40
    Farpoint 55
The differences between the fairview and the farpoint (within the *same* capacity limit 40 vs 40, 55 vs 55) are only as follows:
Fairview has a thinner shoulder strap with a different curve (so that it doesnt eat into the chest area as much)
Fairview also has a smaller hip strap (to fit the different female waist shape)
Fairview lastly accomodates to a smaller torso length
Farpoint has thicker straps, bigger hip strap, caters to longer torso length
So your comparison should be between the 40 and the 55 which actually refers to the capacity, 40L and 55L respectively.
Within the same capacity, the farpoint and fairview have the exact same bag type (slight different dimentions due to the above strap differences only).
    Comparing 40 and 55
40L > has a laptop compartment at the back with a side access zipper, has the front pocket (non-zipper) where you can put stuff into.
55L > does *not* have a laptop compartment, is actually made out of a 40L bigger bag and a 15L day pack (total 55L, hence the version name), laptop compartment is shifted to the 15L daypack, does *not* have the non-zipper front pocket on the bigger bag
Lastly at 17:05, you mentioned it being difficult to attach another bag to the front end, but that is incorrect as well.
Both the 40L and the 55L (referring to the bigger bag) have a female clip attachment point that accepts a male clip from an osprey day pack (the same one with the 55L)
So you *can* actually attach another bag without wearing it, except it requires the male clip attachment which I only presume exist on the day pack (which can be bought separately).
I think you are using another bag from the osprey line that isn't the day pack, hence cannot clip onto the bag.
Side note: there are 2019 and 2023 versions of the 40L bag (both farpoint and fairview), but the 2023 has better harness system and a different front pocket.

      Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to write this comment.
When I mention Farpoint I’m referring to the Farpoint 55L. As mentioned, this is a follow up to a previous video which gives this video more context. In that video I discuss the differences between the Farview 40L and Farpoint 55L in detail. I also reference that video a few times in this one.
I didn’t know there was a clip sold separately. Thanks for letting me know.
This video is based on the Osprey daypack that can be bought separately. Hence I’m speaking from my experience and the products I currently have.
It’s great that clips are sold separately but i would prefer not to have to pay extra after having spent MORE by getting the 40L and daypack. That’s my opinion and preference 😊
      Thanks for watching!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽

Thank you for the great review! I just got mine in the same color ❤ it looks quite big, bit nice, i can see i can fit a lot of clothes. I watched your previous review and i read on osprey website that this backpack is compatible with most of carry on requirements but i still worry cause as i said it looks quite tall and big

Thank you! How exciting! I love that colour! Yes, that was my concern as well, since it looks really big when fully packed. Smaller airlines might give a hard time but I haven’t experienced any of that. Safe travels! 🛫😊

i swear by Ospreys because they're customizable. You become one with the bag. If it's good enough to climb and scramble the mountains, it'll be good enough for the stairs. ;)

Always interesting with a review from someone who really has used it!
Did you consider the Farpoint/Fairview Daypack, which can be attached to those clips on the front, and if so, why didn't you choose it? Too small??
BTW; Fairview is the women's specific, and Farpoint is the men's version (before Fairview came, Farpoint was unisex). Both comes in 40, 55 and 70 L. 55 and 70 with a daypack as you mentioned. I think Farpoint also comes in an 80 L version.
(I have the older versions of them (40 L) which works very well for me since I don't bring a laptop, so that compartement would only take space from the main for me)

      Hello,
Yes, I did consider the Farpoint/Fairview 55L which comes with the daypack. I actually have a comparison video discussing why i chose the one i did.
You can find the video here: th-cam.com/video/QaEDgSJ4wus/w-d-xo.html
Yes, the Fairview is the women's model which is why I chose that model. I reference farpoint for comparison since it's more widely known.
I'm glad that version works for you and that they considered different users when designing (since not everyone would need a laptop compartment). Osprey has done good work so far.

I'm sorry, I didn't understand that you used Farpoint as a reference!

Hi, could you please tell me roughly the weight of how heavy it would be when it was full? Planning to possibly just use this for carry on but afraid it might get too heavy for plane weight allowances. Thank you for how detailed and specific your videos are!

    • @luciansteph
      @luciansteph 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Great question! I have absolutely no idea. But I can say that it’s heavier than the small carry on pulleys when they’re filled. Maybe 30lbs? It can get really heavy.

Does this bag have a frame?

    • @luciansteph
      @luciansteph 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes there is a metal piece inside that keeps in from folding in half. It keeps it firm.
