In "Don't Look Now," John and Laura Baxter, portrayed by Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie, are a grief-stricken couple trying to recover from their daughter Christine's tragic drowning. Seeking healing, they travel to Venice, where John is restoring a church. There, they meet two elderly sisters, one of whom claims to be psychic and can communicate with their deceased daughter, foreshadowing John's impending danger.
As the couple navigates their grief and eerie psychic predictions, Venice's labyrinthine streets and murky canals mirror their psychological disorientation. The city, steeped in a haunting atmosphere, seems to resonate with their anguish, while a series of murders adds to the pervasive sense of dread. When Laura temporarily returns to England following an accident involving their son, John continues to experience disturbing visions, including sightings of a childlike figure in a red coat resembling their late daughter.
These premonitions culminate in a chilling revelation when John finally confronts the figure, only to be brutally murdered by what turns out to be not his daughter, but a sinister, dwarf-like figure. In a tragic twist of fate, Laura and the two sisters are seen in John's funeral procession, echoing one of his earlier visions. The film closes on the merging of personal grief with supernatural foresight, leaving a lasting impression of the intertwined fates of the characters and the eerie city of Venice.

Really, quite wonderfully mysterious. I enjoyed it. It totally held my attention till the finish. Wish I could have the pleasure of listening to it all over again the first time.

I wish the ending was as compelling as the rest of the play. It seemed a bit flat and too much crambed into too short a t8me.
