    I'm not sure I worded the question clearly, by "what resolves best" I meant what sounds Predictable / home / final/ finished, not what is most interesting or makes the best loop
    Regardless, I hope the concept made sense for you all 👊❤
    FYI the chord options were
    1 = chord7
    2 = chord3
    3 = chord4
    4 = chord1

      I liked 2 and 4, they was similar, 1 and 3 sounded unpleasant. But I felt that in both cases ending missed one more chord, we have 2 in beginning, but only 1 in the end. Feels incomplete.

    chords have been one of those things that've eluded me as to how they work, mostly due to the (personally) confusing language, but you made it so much more intuitive and understandable. thinking about a 7th as just a combo of the different chord "home" relations actually blew my mind. But the fun part, what I learned most is, besides all theory, if it sounds good it sounds good, no need to make it more complex than just that.

    Your question chords are suggestive of a VI-V progression in the key of Am, and with chord #4, you get a VI-V-I progression. So since you asked which one "lands on home", rather than "which one do you enjoy the most", the objectively correct answer is chord #4. Though that doesn't necessarily make it the most musical or tasteful choice, that's in the ear of the composer.

    • @Bthelick
      @Bthelick  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly, that's the idea and why asked like that. So I could explain harmony functions.
      I shouldn't have used 7ths I think , as it's pretty hard to feel a Vmaj into III without the dom 7 imo. Triads would have been more convincing but I got wrapped up in the garage vibe.
      And yes many seem to be commenting what their favorite is as opposed to that resolved but all good it was a fun experiment and the engagement has been tremendous thanks for lending your thoughts. 👊

    • @Bthelick
      @Bthelick  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I don't use Roman numerals, for the same reason I don't use old Greek, German or Italian terms. I find it old fashioned and completely unnecessary for the description of simple musical principles , especially as they pertain to modern electronic music.
      Communication is most effective in the same language as the culture it's being made to, and I know most djs or producers don't want to feel like they are back in music class!

    Picked #4 but the best next pick was #1 and then maybe #2 better than #3, though for the tail it would depend on the context considerably. Like #1 is the “canonical choice” which can be in need of subverting, depending on what we have. I like weird progressions, though I can’t write out which ones go for me and which still aren’t.
    Maybe I mixed #2 and #1 and #2 should be the second best pick. Lazy to relisten... 😅

    so im an idiot and when I started producing i never really bothered to learn every key. I figured, I can learn one key and the functional intuition 12x faster than 1 key and then pitch it up or down into whatever key i want lol.
    before ableton’s scale thing id just click in all of cmaj move it behind beat 1 and duplicate a few octaves and freeze. then id use the midi pitch plugin if i wanted to change the key of the track.
    anyway since im lazy i used cthulhu chord packs to help w song writing at one point and after making some cool tracks id never have made without cthulhu i decided to study the chords. i pitched them down to cmaj/amin and…. well i couldnt. I could get reallyyyy close to cmaj but i always had that pesky G#. the thing was the g# sounded great. I ended up using it a lot in my song writing. Basically any chord that had a g or an a I could replace the A or G with a G# and it always sounded interesting.
    3 years later i had no clue i was just using one of the 3 main minor scales 😅

    the 4th chord makes the most sense, 2nd sounds also great, but I would add another chord in the end to it

    I was thinking 3, then 2 the second time round, then 3, then 4.
