Haven’t played since 2015 I don’t mind a fresh start. Nd I’d like for everyone to be on the same page instead of being around level 120s that’s stresses me out and makes me feel like I have to work really hard to catch up.
So basically what I got from this is no cross play, no cross save, and this will be a completely new start for everyone. This will isolate so many veteran players because as much as I'd love to play w101 on a switch on the go, I'll be damned if I'm paying for a separate subscription OR starting from scratch after playing for 13 years.
I will give to a secret tech if you have good mobile data steam link is gas you can bypass the steam forced login and use your og account and play on your phone do it all the time!
It’s not fair. You don’t sound like someone who plays these games. We’ve asked for a mobile and console port so we can play with our friends and wizards there. It losses all meaning when you force people not only to create new wizards but also to pay for a separate subscription and on different servers. Get off your knees.
Her statement, "Nobody else does crossplay, so I asked why don't we do crossplay," is entirely a lie. I would say 75% to 80% of multiplayer games being released these days are crossplay. The latest game I play, Throne and Liberty, does crossplay through the server side like she mentioned. However, she was talking about server mismatching and some people playing with updated spells while others are not. This could be easily remedied by taking the server down for maintenance for a couple of hours. This would force everyone to restart their clients and play on the updated servers. It's a very weak argument and poor excuse.
I think people need to realize that cross play between consoles and pc is a lot more expensive than they think it is. She also brought up a really great point about needing to carry out updates at the same time on every platform otherwise spell data, worlds, events, etc wouldn’t match up. I’m still hopeful that the game is FULLY free to play (or at least arc 1) and I’d like to think that Kingsisle is doing that since they likely ran the numbers on how much they would trade off making one arc free but releasing the game to consoles. I feel that it wouldn’t be DOOMED to fail if this wasn’t the case, they’ll definitely get a new audience, but they also wouldn’t be able to guarantee anywhere near what they would expect.
The amount of money they’d get from full crossplay/save would outweigh how much it cost lol. I was hyped for the console port and was gonna play the shit out of it but now I’m not touching it unless they make the game f2p. KI is stuck in 2010. Fortnite and literally any mmo/multiplayer game releases updates across a variety of platforms day and date. If they are too lazy to do that then there’s no point in making and wasting time building it in the first place. KI is allergic to money. They refuse to make the first arc free to drive a new player base. They alienate the steam user base by forcing people to create new characters and be on smaller servers without there friends. They still refuse to make a mobile port which made sense far before a console port. Get off your knees.

I agree that making steam separate was a dumb decision and there was no real reason for them to do that, they’re on the same platform, just merge the two servers. And my original comment seems to be in agreement with what you said about making first arc entirely free. If they don’t at least do that, then there’s no world in which this would be as successful as they’d like it to be. But the difference between what Kingsisle plans to do with console servers and what Epic currently does with Fortnite doesn’t even have anything to do with the games themselves but the companies in question. Epic’s net worth exceeds Kingsisle’s by tens of billions. Regardless of how much it costs, Epic can afford those losses due to how many people play Fortnite. It’s not the same story with Kingsisle and the fact that cross play between pc and console isn’t a thing confirms that. And saying that the amount of money they would get outweighs the cost means nothing; neither you or I know how successful the console platform servers are going to be, cross platform or not. Yea it COULD generate more money if they did, but it becomes a question of can they afford the cost or not. Again, that’s a question neither of us know, but the fact that they refuse to do it says either one of two things: 1) they can’t afford to or 2) they’re too caught up in how much they make now from pc and think that separate servers will somehow make them more money in the long run. Knowing which is true is impossible at this point. But either way, they had to run some numbers on it to know that. It’s probably also why, among other reasons such as screen resolution, mobile servers haven’t been rumored to release yet (but honestly I’m not concerned with that right now). I’m not simply agreeing with everything Kingsisle is doing. But at this rate complaining about every decision they make with this isn’t getting us anywhere. If you think you can do a better job than a multi-million dollar company, be my guest. If not, then TRY to have some positivity or at LEAST look a little more objectively at the situation than instantly writing it off.
First arc needs to be free in order for this to be successful long term…. Xbox people pay for gamepass… and PlayStation people pay for plus…. (Idk about other consoles) SO if they make the first arc completely free it will be waaay more successful, rather than making people pay for a monthly membership starting in the first world 😄
I play on switch and we have to pay a subscription to access online AS A WHOLE, so I'm really hoping we can get arc 1 free as that has enough to keep the player base happy or at least satisfied

Most players who are on have been playing for years & years or returning players from years ago. Wiz very likely gets very low numbers of new players. Releasing a console version isn’t going to magically increase those numbers. They’d be putting all these resources, time , money etc that could be used on the main game to make a console version most likely very few people are going to play. The risk/reward ratio for the good of Wizard101 as a whole is very low. They’d likely end up shutting down the console servers just like they did the EU servers due to low player base. More like too broke to do it. Also Wiz101 isn't exactly a smash hit MMO or anything so first party wouldn't likely get their updates out first thing in tandem with P.C. Sad realities, but it is what it is.

In this very video, they admit that this game does not have the renown nor income that something like Fortnite generates to maintain crossplay. Sure, a handful of streamers will fork over money for packs or crowns, but even with that and people buying subs, KI still have 2 games they manage, and neither of which are cheap. You are the fool if you actually think a few streamers make any sort of difference here. As much as I hope this isn't true, it's probably why they are even doing a console port to begin with. To bolster player count and get more subs and to sell packs to those not able to play via P.C.

The old players till play competitively. What you are trying to say is: nee players are not joining or spending money. Look you are free to think and feel how you want just as I am but I know they make about 38 to 100 mill a year until they refused to make wizard city free. Then they lost a lot of players. But yet again those are new players. The old ones already completed it and or purchased it with crowns. Yes they did take a financial hit but they can still afford it. I understand the limitations they are facing but this is hands down the single dumbest decision they've made to date. Wizard101 has survived exclusively off of a loving community. The whole reason for going to console would be to bring more people into the large pond of the game, instead they made a bunch of smaller ponds that are separate from the wider community. 💀 as a former pc player and current ps5 player all I can say is make arc 1 free. I’m telling to people will NOT play the game once they get hit with anything they have to pay to continue till a certain point obviously. Making people start over is ridiculous. I will play this when it releases but I don’t have high hopes other “new” players will continue to play after the first month of release.

Did you know they actually planned the console port beforehand, that way they have the financials and data backing them up to make sure the implementation of the port is a success for the business overall.
There’s absolutely 0 point in a console port without crossplay. Same thing with the steam port. Why would I spend another 10+ dollars on membership for a smaller user base and having to completely restart my character? The ENTIRE POINT. Of wizard101 on mobile and console was because WE wanted to be able to play on the go or on the couch without having to go on a laptop or desk. KI as usual proves they are completely incompetent. All this work for a console port just for it to be DOA. They may as well just make it completely f2p and at least give it a chance to swim.
I have said this many times in the discord. but ill say it here because some people arent listening. console CANNOT have account linking gamigo needs the fresh player data from the console port to determine if its worth investing in an engine migration for wiz. The only path forward for wiz is an engine migration as the training costs for new devs is really slowing down development.
If crossplay is not feasible then stop development on it. Its not going to be worth the development time and resources. And another thing they need to definitely reconsider is the subscription cost on console should be cheaper than PC because all consoles already have paid online as a prerequisite to even play games online so adding an addition like 10$ a month subscription fee will probably not be all that appealing to console players. They need to either do make it cheaper or have substantially more free to play content so that a new console player can actually have a decent idea of if they like the game enough to have another subscription fee each month. Because 2 areas of Wizard City is just not showing off nearly enough of the game to know if you want to buy a subscription or not.
Console is going FS flop if they think anyone is gonna spend an additional $10 to play this 10+ year old game. Very out of touch team we got. Which is a shame because I guarantee if this game became free to play, you would have more people in it. If you are so desperate to have a membership plan, exclude the play through of the game and make it to where there’s member benefit perks to subscribing (free chest rolls, stitching, dye palette, increase gold and drops, etc…) but to put the game behind the paywall on console, where there’s already online paywalls to even access- that’s insane.
On Xbox there is this thing called gamepass. You spend 15 a month and get hundreds of games big and small. Spending another 10 just to play 1 game is dumb.
@@Artyom125 Well with Xbox (idk about PS) you don't actually need a gamepass/Gold subscription for free to play games. So Xbox players if they really wanted could only pay for wiz membership. But I doubt many pay for it in general.
They are putting all these resources into console when fans just want the first arch free it would allow people to get into the game and its not like they dont have so many other places to pay for.
Nintendo switch console player here umm we pay $20 per year for online and yes its a steal but for KI its $75 per year for only there game. You see the issue here??? Unless there willingly drop the price down to $40 for a year or unless someone is really dedicated to the game I doubt a switch player would be committed to wiz
I dont really care much for the crossplay, playing with other consoles is cool as is, I just want my characters there, I have too many high levels that took grinding ontop of grinding, I do not plan on starting “fresh” when we technically start fresh with every character. Thats gonna be a big L and the real supporters will not be coming to console at all. Only new players who dont even know what the game is.

I love the game and understand that they are bringing it to consoles but it shouldn't be like steam where you have to make a whole new account let us link our console to the account and have our stuff we paid for is all i would love being able to share some old things with others like old house dungeons you cant get any more

Howdy, After my last post, I would like you to first consider what I am saying here and then combine it with my last post for a video. With all the issues KI is having with bugs, bots and content that is making the game unrecognizable; what if the move to console is a swan song for Wiz on computer?
shame they couldn't just make the server itself host the spells cast so that their sysyem updates in real time with any spell changes. Alos i have played for many many years and wanted to get my friends into it and the servers not being corss play makes it a non starter. i am not gonna pay for two accounts. Any sacrifices that have to be made to do cross play will pay off in the long run, without it i don't think this is going anywhere.
wouldve prefered a delayed launch w/ crossplay thsn without it. need first arc free theres rumors rn that wizard city is gonna be free but in 2024 thats not enough. not to mention how outdated arc 1 looks as a whole, it would have to get revamped to prosper imo

Wiz is supposed to be a family game too what’s are families gonna do run 5 consoles at their house and have 5 tvs or monitors just to play wiz together it’s just gonna divide them based on what they have

There will be plenty of family’s playing on console on top of the new players and returning players. A big reason why I don’t return is bc I don’t want to compete in pvp or pve against someone who has the latest and greatest pet or someone who has 120 million couch potato farm they made 10 years ago before they patched it all. This is a clean, fresh new start for everybody. Honestly, can you imagine playing and experiencing the game for the first time again along a bunch of other people ?? No sorry it took way too long long for you to bring it to console if it was around level 60-100 sure I’d be down cause it was the update of the biggest dungeon for level 100 but not allowing people to at least transfer their save or get some type of bonus/reward for your PC account is bullshit allow players to transfer 1 wizard over to console at least otherwise don’t release it because the players that could own a PC finally get to play with mates that never wanted to own or could never afford a pc is just making things worse cause it’s such a grind not a bad thing it’s a lovely game and story but not giving a reward/ bonuses like XP or loot for players that’s been around for years 10+ at least hurts and says you don’t care about them just money
Incompetent people working at kingsisle I see. Don’t wanna spend the necessary resources because of greed so likely console is going to die as well. You have to make investments and take risks for something as grand as this to work, because if you look at it this way: if it succeeds the game will see another golden age and rescue this dumb company. They literally have MGI, a big company, at their back for such investment, and MGI would probably follow through with it considering Wizard is its most profitable game

The risk/reward ratio for the good of Wizard101 as a whole is very low. They’d likely end up shutting down the console servers just like they did the EU servers due to low player base. Wizard101 doesn't have the following you think it does. In this very video, they admit that this game does not have the renown nor income that something like Fortnite generates to maintain crossplay. Sure, a handful of streamers will fork over money for packs or crowns, but even with that and people buying subs, KI still have 2 games they manage, and neither of which are cheap. You are the fool if you actually think a few streamers make any sort of difference here. As much as I hope this isn't true, it's probably why they are even doing a console port to begin with. To bolster player count and get more subs and to sell packs to those not able to play via P.C.
@bluenited9524 i could say I don't have money when I do. Lying is easy. If they didn't have the following i "think" then why they keep updating? Why the game still going forward? The old players till play competitively. What you are trying to say is: nee players are not joining or spending money. Look you are free to think and feel how you want just as I am but I know they make about 38 to 100 mill a year until they refused to make wizard city free. Then they lost a lot of players. But yet again those are new players. The old ones already completed it and or purchased it with crowns. Yes they did take a financial hit but they can still afford it. And would you imagine if they did actually pay to do this on console the proper way they might actually gain players. You know besides the ones who gave up because it's pay to win.

I understand the limitations they are facing but this is hands down the single dumbest decision they've made to date. Wizard101 has survived exclusively off of a loving community. The whole reason for going to console would be to bring more people into the large pond of the game, instead they made a bunch of smaller ponds that are separate from the wider community. Genuinely makes no sense what so ever to bring it to console without cross-platform. It will die out faster than concord and prove to be the biggest waste of time the company has ever done

💀 as a former pc player and current ps5 player all I can say is make arc 1 free. I’m telling to people will NOT play the game once they get hit with anything they have to pay to continue till a certain point obviously. Making people start over is ridiculous. I will play this when it releases but I don’t have high hopes other “new” players will continue to play after the first month of release.

There’s absolutely 0 point in a console port without crossplay. Same thing with the steam port. Why would I spend another 10+ dollars on membership for a smaller user base and having to completely restart my character? The ENTIRE POINT. Of wizard101 on mobile and console was because WE wanted to be able to play on the go or on the couch without having to go on a laptop or desk. KI as usual proves they are completely incompetent. All this work for a console port just for it to be DOA. They may as well just make it completely f2p and at least give it a chance to swim.

console CANNOT have account linking gamigo needs the fresh player data from the console port to determine if its worth investing in an engine migration for wiz.
The only path forward for wiz is an engine migration as the training costs for new devs is really slowing down development.
If crossplay is not feasible then stop development on it. Its not going to be worth the development time and resources.
And another thing they need to definitely reconsider is the subscription cost on console should be cheaper than PC because all consoles already have paid online as a prerequisite to even play games online so adding an addition like 10$ a month subscription fee will probably not be all that appealing to console players. They need to either do make it cheaper or have substantially more free to play content so that a new console player can actually have a decent idea of if they like the game enough to have another subscription fee each month. Because 2 areas of Wizard City is just not showing off nearly enough of the game to know if you want to buy a subscription or not.
Console is going FS flop if they think anyone is gonna spend an additional $10 to play this 10+ year old game.
Very out of touch team we got. Which is a shame because I guarantee if this game became free to play, you would have more people in it. If you are so desperate to have a membership plan, exclude the play through of the game and make it to where there’s member benefit perks to subscribing (free chest rolls, stitching, dye palette, increase gold and drops, etc…) but to put the game behind the paywall on console, where there’s already online paywalls to even access- that’s insane.

On Xbox there is this thing called gamepass. You spend 15 a month and get hundreds of games big and small. Spending another 10 just to play 1 game is dumb.
@@Artyom125 Well with Xbox (idk about PS) you don't actually need a gamepass/Gold subscription for free to play games. So Xbox players if they really wanted could only pay for wiz membership. But I doubt many pay for it in general.

Nintendo switch console player here umm we pay $20 per year for online and yes its a steal but for KI its $75 per year for only there game.

I dont really care much for the crossplay, playing with other consoles is cool as is, I just want my characters there, I have too many high levels that took grinding ontop of grinding, I do not plan on starting “fresh” when we technically start fresh with every character. Thats gonna be a big L and the real supporters will not be coming to console at all. Only new players who dont even know what the game is.

I love the game and understand that they are bringing it to consoles but it shouldn't be like steam where you have to make a whole new account let us link our console to the account and have our stuff we paid for is all i would love being able to share some old things with others like old house dungeons you cant get any more

After my last post, I would like you to first consider what I am saying here and then combine it with my last post for a video.
With all the issues KI is having with bugs, bots and content that is making the game unrecognizable; what if the move to console is a swan song for Wiz on computer?
shame they couldn't just make the server itself host the spells cast so that their sysyem updates in real time with any spell changes. Alos i have played for many many years and wanted to get my friends into it and the servers not being corss play makes it a non starter. i am not gonna pay for two accounts. Any sacrifices that have to be made to do cross play will pay off in the long run, without it i don't think this is going anywhere.

There will be plenty of family’s playing on console on top of the new players and returning players. A big reason why I don’t return is bc I don’t want to compete in pvp or pve against someone who has the latest and greatest pet or someone who has 120 million couch potato farm they made 10 years ago before they patched it all. This is a clean, fresh new start for everybody. Honestly, can you imagine playing and experiencing the game for the first time again along a bunch of other people ?? You can’t get that out of a 15 year old mmo like wiz unless you do something like this. I wouldn’t have minded cross play but I think there are pros and cons to both. I like this decision
No sorry it took way too long long for you to bring it to console if it was around level 60-100 sure I’d be down cause it was the update of the biggest dungeon for level 100 but not allowing people to at least transfer their save or get some type of bonus/reward for your PC account is bullshit allow players to transfer 1 wizard over to console at least otherwise don’t release it because the players that could own a PC finally get to play with mates that never wanted to own or could never afford a pc is just making things worse cause it’s such a grind not a bad thing it’s a lovely game and story but not giving a reward/ bonuses like XP or loot for players that’s been around for years 10+ at least hurts and says you don’t care about them just money
Incompetent people working at kingsisle I see. Don’t wanna spend the necessary resources because of greed so likely console is going to die as well. You have to make investments and take risks for something as grand as this to work, because if you look at it this way: if it succeeds the game will see another golden age and rescue this dumb company. They literally have MGI, a big company, at their back for such investment, and MGI would probably follow through with it considering Wizard is its most profitable game
