Inverness the best. Scottish people the Brave. I can't forget Dingwall but West cost with Kishorn, Kyle of Lochalsh, Lochcarron, Portree, the Sleat and Fort Williams and back to Inverness. I'm French, long time ago I was on the rig to Kishorn and Ninian Platform. Scotland is my second country.
I suppose, like many places, Inverness town centre has lost much of its charm and character. The Eastgate Centre, well established now was a massive complex to insert into the centre of the town. Still, I remember the delight of my relations who lived there at the thought of getting their own Marks and Spencer! They used to have to come down to Glasgow to do all their serious shopping. As a young boy I was always excited to ride on the big red Highland Omnibus double-decker as it threaded its way down Bridge Street and on to the fine old Suspension Bridge. Nobody rushed about back then. People were walking or pottering about on bikes. Now, as the video shows, the roads have been re-thought so that cars can make progress. And Inverness, once a homely town, is now a city.
Driven this route many times. Always love going to Inverness. Great city. Thanks. 🙂
