    It really is useful to be told the reasons lying behind the problems. So many other videos just give exercises and don't explain why the exercises are good. This video was really helpful as well as extremely interesting.

    I thought I had this. Then I discovered that I was eating too many carbs & my wrists & hands were swelling. What I need is to do a lymphatic drainage & cut way down on my carbs. Walking & rebounding will greatly help too

    So true 1 I have been told by the NHS physio here that it’s age related and there’s nothing that can be done except take pain medications and hope it doesn’t get worse.

    Please tell us about CORTISONE injection in the hands. Benefits and risks? Thanks

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Rick! Cortisone may be a good idea if you're looking for a quick relief solution. It won't make your hand muscles stronger or make your joints more mobile, but it may allow you to sleep better at night.
      The risks are if you get too many cortisone injections, it starts to deteriorate ligaments and tendons. People get tears. Most doctors will limit patients to 3 per year because of this.
      Cortisone injections don't solve the long-term problem. That's usually fixed by getting more strength and mobility in the right places.

    This description of hand arthritis doesn’t seem to match my reality. I work as a gardener and spend much of my life gripping and squeezing things and clenching my hands. I have Bouchard nodes on many of my proximal finger joints (some of them are apparently permanently enlarge), and heberden nodes on most of the distal joints and some of the fingers are now staring to twist in a corkscrew shape as well. I hang from a bar regularly and my grip strength is good. I’m 55 years old. What can I do?

      Yes Dr David. I keep you posted. I have got a similar hand exercise tool and I use it regularly, but I guess it’s too weak for me. I will look into it. Tomorrow I am seeing local doctor. I guess I get some xrays done. I have a healthy lifestyle and it’s a mystery to me why I got this heavy pain..Thank you for your response 😊

    I bought those hand grip strengtheners as seen on another one of your videos , used them 3 days in a row and now both hands go to sleep on me at nights. 😩 My thumb joints do feel better in the day.

      Hey Joni, it sounds like you probably have a nerve problem in your neck or shoulders. This commonly happens with hand problems. We find that nearly all our hand patients in the clinic also have a neck or shoulder problem.

    hi, my left knee has been paining since lockdown. As I go downstairs the grinding sound comes with pain without swelling. I doubt if it's a torn muscle or anything serious. There is no swelling and only pain that too if I go downstairs that's it. Apart from that, I don't feel pain anytime. Please guide. Ty

    Hi sir one question if you mayhow can you deal with the issue of hybredean, 'nodes at the distal phalanges of the hands but not painful (at the moment)....thanks

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Kami! Heberden nodes are bony changes related to osteoarthritis in the fingers. It's usually due to chronic irritation of the joints there. We've never seen them go away, but they can flare down and become less irritated once you start getting better strength in the hands.
