- Ray Charles & Ronnie Milsap perform at Constitutional Hall in Washington, DC April 13, 1983 for Country Music Association's 25th Anniversary. Attended by President Ronald Reagan.
"Ray, it doesn't matter that I've never seen you. I know you're beautiful." Maybe we can all learn something from two men who couldn't see with their physical eyes and had to see with their hearts instead. Because of this, they were able to see beyond the differences that they had and they saw that they were not really all that different at all. They were able to love one another because they looked beyond the superficial. That was a truly beautiful moment to me.

Ronnie has stated that blindness allowed him to pursue music, rather than starting work at the sawmill at the age of 14, as many others did. Let that sink in, next time you feel discouraged.

WOW! I remember seeing this on TV! Two talented men who overcame so many obstacles and learned to "see" in a different way!
What these two had to overcome in life was incredible. Through determination and talent they became great. Wonderful to see President Reagan as well.

Ronnie wrote such a sad story in his book, he was from a very humble family who had little money for extras. They bought him a transistor radio one year. He lived at the blind school and came home for holidays on the greyhound bus. He was sitting waiting for the bus and someone saw his radio and stole it from him. How does a human being do that to a blind kid? I will never forget that story. I loved his music.

Ronnie Milsap and Ray Charles - This made my day. Six months later made my day again.
Folks like Vince Gill have said that Ray Charles was their inspiration. Country music is soulful with its heart-felt lyrics and
uncomplicated melodies and harmonies. Ray expressed that soulfulness. I wish Hank Williams could've heard Ray Charles sing "You Win Again." Roy Acuff didn't say anything other than that he "contributed greatly to expanding the influence of country music." Thank you Ronnie Milsap for speaking up (probably surprisingly) after Roy's tepid introduction and for giving Ray the high praise he deserves as a musician of the highest caliber.
Saw Ronnie at concert bout 8 years ago.He was awesome and has great sense of humor.His voice is so smooth.He is a legend in his time.

"I Can't Stop Loving You" was first released by Don Gibson in 1958 and reached to number 8 on the Country Chart. In 1962, Ray Charles released his version, and it reached number 1, and it would stay there for 5 weeks.
