I think the main difference between modern online horror and Creepypastas, is that they were mostly one-off stories that came into existence and stayed online mostly without explanation by the people who've written them, which added to the feeling they were real. The last actually active remnants of this would probably be r/nosleep

I was around 7 when my older friend (she was around 12) was telling me horror stories that I still remember. I was definitely not prepared for it and got nightmares because of it. I remember the Sally story so clearly wow. Scawwy
Creepypasta isn't magically gone. There are still toooons of people posting short format horror. It's just moved to different outlets. Creepypasta was just the early 2010's version of penny dreadfuls. This happens to everything that gets a saturated fanbase.
The best creepypasta around nowadays has to be "tales from the gas station". I recommend it to everyone interested in cosmic horror with comedy and unreliable narration
Pretty sure monsterf*ckers, fan artists and fanfic writers can't do nearly as much damage to these characters than the over-saturation of content involving them can do. Especially younger fans who are simply creating works to express their love for the stories and characters. Let them vibe and be cringe and ask that those who want to create these horrors keep improving their craft.

I used to watch Minecraft x CreepyPasta shit, like YaBoiAction. Good TH-camr, not following whatever trend, just... Making 2017-esque horror stuff 8-year-old me would watch.
This video made me realize I have not seen a single person thirsting for Siren head, I guess skinny guys just don’t hit the same for people anymore because I have seen people thirsting for cartoon cat. But I digress, I don’t really think creepypasta is dead, I mean most of the old ones that were called creepypastas are way past their prime but that’s only normal. I consider creepypasta to be any horror that comes from the internet and that will never die, that’s a reason I don’t consider Ted the caver to be the first creepypasta, it was the first big one but the actual first creepypasta ever is probably way less impressive.
