    I think more Haitian Americans/Haitian people should invest in their country, to help bring more tourists and generate more wealth for this beautiful island. Growing up in Miami during the 90s, Haitian people were not shown respect by fellow black Americans nor the Hispanics. Their is so much history and culture on this island. I myself was very naive because I based my opinions about this country on the negativity images portrayed on television. It took my college roommates to educate me on their culture and show me the beauty of Haiti. Some of my friends were mostly proud of their culture, while others were afraid to acknowledge being Haitian because of the negative images bestowed upon them. It took me to see the true beauty of Haiti, after the major earthquake 12 years ago. My bestfriend husband and others begin sharing photos of their beautiful homeland. Haiti is definitely a beautiful island but I wish the government would do more for good it's people instead of creating constant political warfare. Haitian people should have the right to purchase their own hotels and establish other businesses in their country. Why should a foreigner like the white guy in the video cheat a Haitian native out of a home he knew was worth $100k but I do blame the seller for settling. However I imagine he had to do what was best for his family at that time. Allowing foreigners to takeover what their ancestors fought so hard to keep, then turn around and pay the natives low wages is very disturbing. I pray Haiti will become the wealthiest island it once were. I'm routing for you!! #MiamiNative ❤🖤💚

The food is amazing ! In the US, no one greets each other .. I come home and try speaking to others I pass and they just go on by ! Bonjou Bonswa Salut!! :) my vision is to start a clothing factory there to give the people work . But I don’t want to own it ! I want to give it to them ... we ll see what God has in store :)

    NIce job. I was at Florita a long time ago. Jacmel is to Haiti as Marrakech is to Morocco. People go for the amazing architecture and ambiance that you can't replicate. Beautiful mosaic tiles steps. This is an instagramable city! The world does not need another box shape mall. Use what is there already. Thank goodness the young diaspora is discovering these jewels. They have vision, appreciation much like Jeanty and are into preservation and owning the narrative of Haiti. We want authenticity, Looking forward to the rest of the series.

    • @zeminoid
      @zeminoid 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No, it's challenging for the diaspora to invest back in Haiti, there are thousands of stories of Haitians that took their hard-earned cash in the US and invested it in Haiti just to get ripped off and lose it, the government does not help a lot, in fact, they make it extremely difficult. It's sad because, with some good investment, so many things could improve, but it's almost impossible with how the Haitian system works.

My mom said at least one of her daughters should marry someone from her hometown, and I happened to be the one. The one thing I fear about Jacmel being over exposed to tourism is that it will ruin the quiet, quaintness, and safety of the town with tourism comes criminal elements. My husband and I plan on spending our senior years there. I'm a proud Jacmelienne by way of NYC.

    Really good video. FYI, the young student you interview is not in the 3rd grade as in elementary school, its 10th grade compare to US system.
    It’s confusing the way the use number to describe grade level in Haiti because the numbers go backward: it goes like this: 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and then 3rd, 2nd, Reto, and Filo(final).
    In secondary school (or high school), 3rd comes after 9th grade, so technically it is 10th grade.

    Very beautiful, and educational, some people like to paint Haiti in a vey bad way, Haiti is not zone, it's a whole entire country, which means there are a lot beautiful places there, don't just show the bad, under-develop parts, show everywhere as a whole, the same way, when you go to other countries, you're going to find beautiful places, and as well as the bad one, Port au prince is not the only place Haiti has, and the thing is; they never show the beautiful part of Port au prince, they only show you the dirty sides, and everywhere else that is overpopulated, they never take the time to go to tabarre, Delmas, Petionville, Pelerin, Laboule, thomassin, Fermathe, fort Jacques, Keenscoff, Fussie, and every else around the capital, they"re so focused on selling a bad dirty part of Haiti, so they can degrade the whole nation entirely.

    I could see a period piece being shot here. Its incredibly beautiful and I like I clean the streets are considering Haiti's got the trash problem in other areas.

    We need to start investing in our country to keep the ownership black. I'll keep it respectful but every black person should know why. Nice video 👍
