Aguinaldo was the typical Filipino political opportunist who yearned for power, wealth and eternal lord status. That is the Filipino culture that evolved and developed from the Spaniards and eventually the American where wealth and control are pushed to be glorified by the masses.
Aguinaldo had Bonifacio and Luna killed as most people think. The usual tactic we see today and have seen throughout Philippine history where like-minded families align themselves to ensure their position in society by simply getting rid of those that threaten the corrupts’ ambition,
Here’s my theory, Aguinaldo colluded with the Spaniards and was probably paid for it to subdue the insurrection led by Bonifacio in exchange for political favors. Aguinaldo was joined by other families of traitors to carry this travesty against the Filipino freedom movement. All we need to do is research and follow the list of families and personalities around Aguinaldo and you will likely still see the same names today that have phucked up the country.
Aguinaldo is not a hero. Nor are the ones that many people today think are heroes.
What’s in a name, A LOT. Aguinaldo and his friends and cronies then are still intact through their descendants.
The only legitimate bonafide hero is Bonifacio and perhaps Magsaysay. Any Filipino leader who actually died under political circumstances before the 1960s are the true heroes. Those prominent figures that lived long and managed to enjoy the fame and fortune are usually the traitors. And those who died during Martial Law are also true heroes. Heroes usually die because their conviction is corrupt free. Those who demand respect and lived to tell their fantasies of greatness are the traitors.
