It probably would've went better than the one about the toilet in the house... Great-Grandma REFUSED to let them put one in(even tho it was in the plans!) ... we finally got one when I was 3!!! if you have any large rocks/boulders around your property, use them to set up a rock garden around the pole. That would also have the effect of making sure you never drive over the tanks.
Good decision to keep your home where it is! So many negatives being next to the road. Fumes, noise, ogelers, chance of someone driving into your home, etc. You made a healthier choice. 😄👍
I've had a hydraulic hose pop once, long drive to the deer dealer to get a new one. After waiting 3 years for our house we are finally getting the septic installed this week.
My daughter lives in a old farm house, and her septic tank is right next to the foundation. First time I ever saw one. Bless you guys, and your really patient

I live in Eastern KY and also moved a mobile home onto our property after a house fire because it was cheaper than rebuilding and quicker so not as much time off work to get reestablished,, plus today mobile homes really are built pretty well as any other home, just in a way that they can be moved to a site.. Our septic is very similar.. no pump system, but a large tank, with a smaller dispersal box leading off to (3) 180ft lengths of leaching chambers.. AND before we could even start on it, had to have a state inspector come out, do a site survey and tell us what kind , how big and how much leaching bed we had to have, and to do tht, he not only considered the land and how it was laid out, but he even drilled a hole in the ground, poured a gallon of water into it and then timed how fast it took to sink into the ground, and that was how he decided on leaching bed size and such.. It's a very complicated business now a days, and the power company wont come near you until it's in and has a sticker on it saying it passed inspection and was done all properly and according to the states regs..
Educational episode on the alternative to the traditional septic system, learned a lot. On your 4 x 4 hand buzzer septic post, to protect and prevent weather damage to the top of your post, what if you use one of your deck post caps as protection; just a thought. "Thanks" for sharing!
We had two in Florida. It was because the house we bought was to close to a creek for the drain field. So everything went into the first one and got pumped to the second one 150 ft up the slope and then out to the drain field half of which was in our neighbors yard. But it was ok with them. It watered the trees between us.
I grew up on 13 acres. We had septic systems; it was a couple of concrete tanks with a pump. I remember having to start the pump to empty the tank when it was full. I believe my dad had the water from the sinks and washer set up to water the yard, much like many cities(suburban areas) do currently.

Hi Sam and Angela Wow As mentioned, that's a huge septic system. When my sister, who lives in Tennessee, did hers 40+ yrs ago, you just dug a hole near an area that went down hill into the woods. You could use anything for a tank. A 50 gallon rust proof drum if it worked for you. The woods was the leach field. This is if you were fancy and had inside bathroom facilities. Most people in the area had that little shed 100 feet from the house. But times change. Even though we didn't get to see you do your magic so we could laugh throughout the video. Having the outtakes or bloopers at the end still had me laughing 😂🤣 until a cried. They always do. Thanks for taking us back to that moment and showing us the install. As always wishing you the best. My parents house had a 1500 gallon septic tank with 3 drain fields, a 275 feet water supply well and a 375 feet return well since they installed dual zone geothermal heating and cooling back in 1993 when they built their house on Kent Island Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay. Late Summer the grass above the drain fields always turns brown vs in the Spring it's very green. My understanding that is from the extra Nitrogen in the soil where the drain fields are located. Their land was high enough they built a basement even though waterfront lot. Later they installed rip rap along the water and a pier and dock. They built a green house to grow their vegetables plus had a big garden and many fruit trees and berry bushes. Y'all remind me how I was raised to have a close family and learn to live within our means and to enjoy the outdoors and the land and so much more 😀 Oh by the way my parents planted bushes around their wells in the front yard and around the clean out for the septic tank in the backyard. The reason they were required to install a 1500 gallon septic tank was based on how many bathrooms and bedrooms (their house has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms)
In the San Antonio, TX area, you mostly see aerobic systems. The aerobic part comes from a compressor that runs continuously to add oxygen to the solid side and break down the waste. The liquid runs into the 2nd half of the tank where it is pumped out via 3 sprinklers.

No doubt you two will figure out a way to camouflage the alarm post - maybe a couple/three vine/ivy covered trellises around it or even maybe a 'yard art' wall. I've lived with an off-site pump system for about 20 years now. I've had to replace the pump twice due to 1) lightening strike and 2) just wore out. Make sure your pump is grounded to help prevent damage from lightening strikes and keep a little $$$ set aside for pump replacement over time.
Angela, you can just buy or build a wishing well to put on top and around the block lid and put some flowers around it. You will also have to do some research on driving (with tractors/trucks and doombuggies) overthe septic tank lines/areas, especially closer to the driveway.
That looks really good. Now THATS a drain field!! About 4 times ours in Washington State!! We put ours in in 1973. Have a 2800 sq ft, 4 bedroom two story house on it. Have only had to pump it out from time to time. Yours should be great!! 👍👏👏👏👏

We alreay had the pump in place, but even so, I think it cost us $8,000.00 to $9,000.00. Not cheap by any means. I'm enjoying your journey, as always. Blessings from Rick in N.H.
I think you should do an underground bunker. I've already said you needed to do a tornado shelter. Tennessee gets tornadoes and flat land gets tornadoes.
I think you made the right choice. I also think it would cost more to move the house than the more expensive system. Like you said there are many systems. We have friends in the country south of Ft Worth who have a pump system. Theirs has impulse sprinklers and waters a field they cut for hay. It works very well.
Had a sand mound system with the same tank/alarm system on our 1 acre plot in King County Washington. When our mound failed 10 years ago due to excessive ground water getting into the tanks and pumping continuously (lots of rain here), it cost 12K for the repairs at that time. The repaired system required a dose timer in addition to the alarm to prevent continuous pumping like before. Dreaded the alarm going off in the middle of the night (never during the day). Love the aerial views and appreciate the working together spirit!

Welcome to the fancy septic club! Thankfully the sellers had to pay for ours when we bought our house. But it was a $20K job here in upstate NY. We have a 1k tank that flows into a 500g tank that pumps uphill to the leech field. Our leech field is fancy, instead of just rock we opted for Eljen matts instead for under the pipe. It lasts longer.
That is a very bizarre drain field. I've never seen anything like that. It takes up so much space. Is this style of drainfield okay to drive over? I'm wondering, why couldn't the drainfield be over where the master bathroom is, over where it looks like the land slopes downward and then not have to do a pump system?
That's the million dollar question.. the state engineer said the soil behind the home was solid clay and it would not drain. The best soil around our home site was up near to the road. It's higher in elevation than the house site, so had to be pumped up hill to that spot. We had several other good soil spots on the land, but none were close to our desired house site.

I was married to someone who inspected septic systems, near vulnerable lakes, and on small urban type lots... I've never, ever, ever seen anything this elaborate!!!! It is hard to imagine the need for such complication, but the rules are the rules. And to think our ancestors settled in similar places, dug one hole, threw up a small structure with a seat in it, called it an outhouse, and carried on in good health.
I see in this video you don’t have the block skirting that you built. Will you show us that procedure someday. It sure makes your mobile home look so much more like a stick built home and I imagine it will look even more so after you side it as I believe you all have mentioned being in the future.
You’re not poopologists lol. Septic systems have changed so much since I worked with my then hubby with such things. This is all cool watching each step of your process. Leach files that’s the issue. It’s so complicated now. I’ve got a friend who puts them in has for almost thirty years he’s seen a lot of changes as well. Was this done before your skirting? I sure hope so. Ehgad he blew a hydraulic hose. The hoses are a common place problems. Ooh crop circles hee hee
You might want to have risers put on the tanks it will save you some money when you have to have the tanks pumped because they charge you more to dig up and find the opening of the tanks. Plus don't flush disposable wipes because they will plug your tanks and might burn up your pump They also say to have your tanks check and pumped out every 3 to 5 years it all depends on how many people you have living in the house Good Luck
@@flytechbass1979 some of us don't have a gray water drain field. But I know some if they have the right kind of terrain gray water can drained in an open field or ditch.

I can’t believe you couldn’t put a traditional system out there. We had one of these type of systems in WA state, but ours had to run up a hill to a leach bed so it made sense because of the location of the house. I may be wrong, but i think you guys got taken to the cleaners. Oh, make sure you have a backup up source of power for the septic pump. Our electric went out one time and we didn’t know this was the type of septic system we had (older house) and we had a lovely backup into the bathtub…yuk! 😆 Also, we put in an alarm if the septic pump stopped working.
Wow we live in Fl. have 1050 gal system and about 100ft drain field we have 2 bathrooms only 2 ppl it's been here about 15 + years and no problems have had it pumped 3 times.
That's a lot different from the last install I saw in SW Kansas. A big deep hole with a cement cover on top! This was 50 years ago and a lot has changed.
Interesting, can you explain more how it works? There is a small cement box connecting the pvc pipe to a sausage filter? Can you explain that? How expensive was it? I will soon be fixing my spec-tic tank in South American and it will not be anything like this, lol. Many blessings on your homestead
That is the largest and most complex residential septic system I have ever seen. You sure they didn't misunderstand or something, lol. Looks like a system for a large business.
Make sure you mark your Clean out lid for Future Clean process. Being new it will be 10 years or so. But if you know where it is. It makes it easier to do so

My folks put similar system in but theirs used sprinkler heads to spray the filtered water out on the yard. But they have a smaller property.

My brother in law had a similar utility post in his front yard. He built an oversized fake birdhouse to slip over it. It is beautiful! You could hinge the back to have access to your septic alarm. Just a thought. Truly enjoy your channel.

I was married to someone who inspected septic systems, near vulnerable lakes, and on small urban type lots... I've never, ever, ever seen anything this elaborate!!!! It is hard to imagine the need for such complication, but the rules are the rules. And to think our ancestors settled in similar places, dug one hole, threw up a small structure with a seat in it, called it an outhouse, and carried on in good health.
I see in this video you don’t have the block skirting that you built. Will you show us that procedure someday. It sure makes your mobile home look so much more like a stick built home and I imagine it will look even more so after you side it as I believe you all have mentioned being in the future.
You’re not poopologists lol. Septic systems have changed so much since I worked with my then hubby with such things. This is all cool watching each step of your process. Leach files that’s the issue. It’s so complicated now. I’ve got a friend who puts them in has for almost thirty years he’s seen a lot of changes as well. Was this done before your skirting? I sure hope so. Ehgad he blew a hydraulic hose. The hoses are a common place problems. Ooh crop circles hee hee

You might want to have risers put on the tanks it will save you some money when you have to have the tanks pumped because they charge you more to dig up and find the opening of the tanks. Plus don't flush disposable wipes because they will plug your tanks and might burn up your pump They also say to have your tanks check and pumped out every 3 to 5 years it all depends on how many people you have living in the house Good Luck

I have not had my pump in 25 years why? no bleach and never disposable wipes. My washer has its own drain field never going in my SEPTIC TANK SYSTEM
@@flytechbass1979 some of us don't have a gray water drain field. But I know some if they have the right kind of terrain gray water can drained in an open field or ditch.
How many feet of drain field was there?

I can’t believe you couldn’t put a traditional system out there. We had one of these type of systems in WA state, but ours had to run up a hill to a leach bed so it made sense because of the location of the house. I may be wrong, but i think you guys got taken to the cleaners. Oh, make sure you have a backup up source of power for the septic pump. Our electric went out one time and we didn’t know this was the type of septic system we had (older house) and we had a lovely backup into the bathtub…yuk! 😆 Also, we put in an alarm if the septic pump stopped working.
Be thankful you live in Tennessee. I live in Ohio and our septic system cost us 20 grand.
Wow we live in Fl. have 1050 gal system and about 100ft drain field we have 2 bathrooms only 2 ppl it's been here about 15 + years and no problems have had it pumped 3 times.

That's a lot different from the last install I saw in SW Kansas. A big deep hole with a cement cover on top! This was 50 years ago and a lot has changed.

Interesting, can you explain more how it works? There is a small cement box connecting the pvc pipe to a sausage filter? Can you explain that? How expensive was it? I will soon be fixing my spec-tic tank in South American and it will not be anything like this, lol. Many blessings on your homestead
I recommend pumping the tank every 3 years or so and use flushable enzymes monthly to help keep your system healthy.
You only need to put enzyme in once or twice a year... you can use yeast, too.

Make sure you mark your Clean out lid for Future Clean process. Being new it will be 10 years or so. But if you know where it is. It makes it easier to do so

My system has a 1,500gal tank which is pretty much standard here. Three 75ft laterals, works great!
