I am so happy we found your channel. Our two-an-a-half-year-old daughter lives with DS as well as three congenital heart defects. She had her first major heart surgery at five days old and her second major heart surgery last year. Since then she is doing great, off oxygen, and almost walking. My wife and I recognize and have been dealing with a lot of the same issues. We also have a four-year-old daughter who has gone through a lot in the last two-and-a-half-years.
Thank God she is doing well! Naomi did have heart surgery at 7 months and she may need one more. It is so hard! I pray your daughter continues to do well. Does she need an more surgeries?
@@LivingWithEve Yes, she will need to go back every 10 years or so to replace stints. Our daughter also has a gtube which she is fed through, although she has been eating more and more by mouth. Did Naomi have the Norwood, The Glenn or, the Fontan?
I know what you mean! I used to be really bad about making excuses for my son that has learning struggles. My husband finally called me out on it. Things have been much better since I started holding him accountable when I know it is within his capacity to do the right thing. Your videos always make me smile! Great advice!
Yes it’s so easy to miss things and make excuses for our kids with special needs but you are so right we need to do our best to not do that. Love this video
Doing things as a family is so important! My parents let my special needs brother get away with things because they thought he could not understand. He totally I understood! 😊
It IS soooo hard. Even today, I saw myself do it. She pulled down her sisters fort and i went to put her in time out. Then she pointed to the bathroom and ran to the toliet. She totally played me, knowing how important potty training is now.
Even though I have to correct her, when Sophie starts to try to manipulate us, I am secretly rejoicing because the neurons are firing and I can see that she is understanding things differently than she did before. She growing, even with the sin nature we all have. Two years ago she would not have been able to do that because she would not have understood it intellectually.
That's a really helpful way to put it. I honestly have been really down on myself. Naomi has been acting out in therapy and I worry that they think I'm a bad mom. 😁 I know, it's the Mom in me. But still I think it.

Ahh thanks! Thank you for relating too. It get frustrating at times... with myself.
If a kid knows the difference between right and wrong, they should be held accountable, no matter what age mentally or emotionally they are.
I love your videos
"she knows that she cute and she knows she can get away with it" LOL Yes, she is soooooo stinking cute!
Play immersion, love that!
I really enjoyed your perspective! Thanks for sharing!

You must be patient with Naomi 💛

Great tips!
As far as do they mimic at least for my daughter with severe medical special needs she definitely does but my oldest with Autism does not.
One of our children has been getting away with a lot bc she’s so cute! we have had to crack down recently!
I am very familiar with the lap fight! I always lose! Lol
Lol i sure do know when they're lying. I just stare at them a little extra longer with a straight face 😑 and that smirk comes out. Works every time 😆
