Like watching your videos. The -40 reading is normally open circuit fault So intermittent fault on the sensor. And if linked to the coolant sensor, reading -40 this would have an effect on the transmission as the coolant temp and trans temp.would have a huge difference. That my theory, but handy to know as I have a disco 3....... also a series 2a engine diesel in bits in my garage, but no time to rebuild it at the moment

If you can get it on a decent diagnostic machine you'll be able to check the temperature difference between the engine and gearbox. 🙂👍
