gosh! what a time! I was yesterday looking for a short spirit spotlight of Rivers to play with my brother who would play spirit island for the first time and I could not find a good one! at least now I can show this video to my friends when I play with them.
Amazing that you continue this series. Love the game (my most played game, multiple times more than my #2), and this series is such a nice addition to something already perfect :) You cannot imagine how much we, the fans, love this! Please continue making them
So glad these are back! Looking forward to seeing more. I'd love to see one for Shroud and/or Shattered Days, as those are ones that took me a while to really grasp the strategy of
Nice videos I’ve been watching the Spirit Island spirit guides: ) I’m sort of new to the game. I will mention a strategy opener I use with River - T1 add presence twice on growth option 2. On second turn do the same. This way you play 2 cards on 1st turn, then second turn you can reclaim a card you played so you have 3 cards to play second turn. Then you reclaim T3, then T4 add presence and gain minor power or add 2 presence. This means already on T5 you may reclaim all and begin endlessly spamming all 4 of Rivers unique power cards since they will supply themselves with energy along with growth and presence track bonus - playing all 4 of Rivers power cards triggers their best innate ability, so every turn you can wash up and massive flood a land. Flash flood can take care of a city or more if it’s coastal land or if you have some other damage buff. Before playing the highest innate ability with River turn after turn, you can start funneling invaders into condensed lands to set up for Massive flooding tier 3. Just don’t be putting invaders places where it would cause too many cities to be built. Tier 1 and 2 innates are strong and should be used until you can just flood out
As river (without aspect) I never use the third growth option. Always rush to 4 card plays and keep triggering max innate with the base cards, hammering one land at a time...
Worth noting how strong River's bottom track is. With the Reclaim per turn, you can spam your innate and be a force of nature. Heh. But seriously tier 3 innate for River is strong and I highly don't recommend going for the JAGGED Earth innate so you can keep the elements from Boon of Vigor for a 0 cost spam.
@@GreaterThanGames Will you be covering all the aspects of Shadows, or just doing the spotlight of one like today? You missed out on River's Travel aspect. I would recommend talking about the Foreboding aspect of Shadows if you do a spotlight on just one aspect. Foreboding fixes Shadows power gap and makes it a contender.
While this is correct yes, the video was talking about if Oceans Hungry Grasp is also playing (a 2-player or higher scenario) which has the feature of making oceans count as coastal wetlands for itself and other spirits. So other spirits are able to push invaders into the ocean and the drown effect of Ocean will come into play. (Only if Ocean has a presence in the target land you are pushing, otherwise its feature won’t work)
The series continues - praise the spirits!
Fantastic, I didn't think they'd start these up again!
Thank you so much for bringing these back. They’re the perfect length and detail to show new players or watch yourself when trying to pick a spirit.

Go all the way to 5 plays so you have some flexibility on the minor powers you pick up!
Thanks for the video
Eagerly waiting for the next spotlight
Great video, love it!

Could you do vengeance next?
Our next Spirit will be Shadows Flicker Like Flame, and I’ll see if we can bump Vengeance up.
Any update on when it will uploaded? I love the quality of these spirit videos so much

My favorite little guy
oh shoot, I thought Sunshine replaced the innate power, no wonder that version of River sucked hardcore ._.
you can only Push into a valid land, not off the board or into the Ocean
