💾 How to easily Reset your GoPro Hero 3 Wifi Name & Password if you are locked out of it. I'll also show you how to update your firmware (optional), but not recommended because it will make your mic recordings much quieter on the GoPro Hero 3..!! So I do not recommend the firmware updrade!

FIXED!!!!!! For those who's Hero 3+ still doesn't update:
This was the most AGGRAVATING thing ever, but I figured it out...
1. Download the Update.zip file (pref firmware & wifi update)
2. Unzip the Update.zip file
3. Copy the 4 separate files you find from the Update folder into the SD card
4. AND!!!! Copy the Update folder (containing all 4 files) to your SD card
Seems redundant but it worked for me after weeks of troubleshooting. Hopefully that works for you!

Not working at all for me, it definitely updated the firmware but no luck in changing the account name/password which is an ancient lost one
I just spent the last 4 days using 2 different computers trying to get the to work and nothing happened for me too, if it did try to update it would fail. I switched to my wife's MAC and did the update manually for the firmware and WiFi and it finally worked. I don't know exactly what was going wrong but I'm sure it had to do with the file extensions.

@@momogunsabah problem for me was I thought i had the correct memory card but it was a similar model to the compatible ones
@@NesiaEU now i can upgrade already. Copy the update folder into sdcard and also copy all files inside update folder then paste outside update folder. Work for me on hero3 plus silver
Hi rapidtronics! I am having major issues with updating my Hero 3+. I have followed your instructions in the video, but when I go to GoPro's website, their pages through the process are not acting like what's seen in your video. I have been trying to update it all day and nothing is working.
I have deleted and reformatted the micro sd card, I have tried hard resetting the GoPro, and completing the wifi/password and firmware updates separately and nothing seems to work.
If I do the request to update the wifi/password and firmware seperately, the download optional will turn blue and let me download the files, but if I try to do the update with both options selected the download button remains greyed out and doesn't do anything. When I do it separately and put the files on the sd card and insert it into the GoPro, the update picture never comes up and the GoPro just goes to the main screen like I'm about to use it.
I've tried calling GoPro customer service 5 times today and each time was about 30-40 minutes of hold time, with no luck in getting in touch with a tech support rep.
What am I missing? Anyone, please help!!

When you do the choose which update to do, select Wi-Fi update and firmware. I have been trying all week to get my hero 3 plus to work and finally that's what it took.

I had a problem with mine too but I figured out that I deleted the update folder in go pro/sd card and when you have your unzipped files called update do not move the folder called update take only the insides of this folder and transfer to go pro do not put in a folder just moved over in sd along side of the other folders

Good helpful video your steps are good. I just purchased a used Go Pro Camera and the previous user name and password need to be removed to I can use it via my smart phone wifi.

rapidtronics I just purchased my Go Pro Hero 3 Silver today..A few minutes ago I was tried to change the user name and password using a usb cord connecting the Go Pro to my pc.Looks like all I need to do is use a micro sd card to bring in the a new download file off the Go Pro website carrying the new file info ( my new user name & password to my GoPro..After watching several TH-cam videos on this topic,I found your video was the BEST one..Thank you so much ,Gary

hi... my hero 3 has 15 digits/ character... and the link now is asking only 14 digits...how can i proceed? thank u :)

1-Go to GoPro.com
2-Click support
3-Click on Product Updates
4-Look for Hero3
5-Click on Update your camera manually
And that should change it to 15-digit.

luckily I got my iPhone 6s working with the GoPro 4 now
hey rapidtronics i been having a headache and a half tryin to figure out how to reset wifi and password i litterly did everything and i tryin ur video i was able to get to all the steps you give me but when i extract the zip file it only give me settings and update i add that to sd card but when i put it in the gopro it desnt say updating please help me im goin crazy tryin to figure this out
+Emmanuel Fernandez hey are you using a blank memory card? If not make sure it is empty first. Don't have any other data on it. Also GoPro recommends a certain kind of card which I have referenced in my video description.. you can also get this type of card at Walmart.. that might help too. Good luck!

did you make sure you took the files out of the update folder, so there was only 2x files
