    The intro beep. The calming narrative. The quiet ambiance. The visuals. Everything about your channel is great, best chess channel out there imo.

    In this tournament they have a "confession booth", where the players can go into a soundproof booth and talk to the camera for TV-viewers. At around move 30 Carlsen went into the booth and proclamed victory describing a plan to get a pawn to G5 and there was nothing Aryan could do. The rest of the game we could enjoy the plan coming through, very nice of him explaining it up front.

    Jerry with another of his typically lucid, and oh so instructive breakdowns of the deeper ideas behind positions. Does anyone do this better? I think not.
    Just 1st class all the way!

    I really liked how u brought up the ideal situation of getting a knight to D5 and trying to accomplish this by removing other minor pieces to get to that square. This is something I'm going to look for in my own games. Thank you very much!

    Hello Jerry. Again, great review. I don't know if you're back for good on this kind of format or if you are just taking over Agadmator for this tournament for the time he's momentarily unavailable, but It's really good to hear your voice on matches analysis again. Keep up the good work !

    My favorite move from the middle was 25. Qd1 - as Finegold would say, that’s a Grandmaster move. It was glossed over here but if I had two major pieces on the open A file I’m looking for ways to press forward on the queenside. Magnus gives up queenside presence, by demoting his queen back to d1 temporarily, because it’s going to be more effective on f3. Those are the “nothing” moves that are so hard to find for us non-masters.

    The knight on d5 is one of the best examples for a "strong knight vs. bad bishop" I've ever seen. Not only is that guy roughly 900x as valuable as blacks dark square bishop, it also cannot be removed. As he is shielded by black pawns, black can't even go and try to give up the exchange because the rook has no way to even attack the knight. Really impressive game.

    • @jrd33
      @jrd33 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The engine evaluates moves based on perfect play. A player may make a move which not bad given perfect play, but is a bad choice for mere mortals who are unlikely to find the perfect line (especially against a top player and under time pressure).
