velour is much softer. look at a pair of velour juicy couture pants. the piece you have is a burnout velvet. I think of velvet as a cheaper-looking version of velour.
I agree with Viaglo, velour is a lot softer and pliable than velvet. Velvet is kind of rough and stiff feeling. Velvet is used, or used to be used for curtains and drapes. Velour has some give to it also, where velvet typically doesn’t. As far as the question about listing shoes as men’s or women’s, if it shows the size for both genders in the shoes, I would list as unisex, and put the size equivalents in the title and description. I mean, people are going to wear what they want to wear and like, whether it’s men’s or women’s. There are a lot of items, especially shoes that can work for either one, like those Vans, I would wear them even if they were men’s.
