A lot of people around here will put bells on their packs, we got bears galore here. they outnumber people 2 to 1.
Do you pull your photos from your video, or take snaps on a different camera.
When in bear country, i use a walking stick with bells on it so the black bears will move away, but also have a shotgun with slugs in it for grizzly bears, but didn't usually carry when hiking.

This was a nice changeup and enjoyed following along on your hike in some interesting looking terrain that looks similar to mountain tops in NH but is just the land there. sick drone shots you got and good follows. Good to see you try something different and change up your routine.

Those rocks appear to be lava flows, yet spaced in a strange way compared to most.
Amazed that you take the time to make hot coffee in hot weather instead of carrying iced tea or even room temp. tea.
As a life long indoor employed person who hiked and camped at every possibility, and much moreso retired, I like anything outdoors, but much prefer multiday trips both myself and watching TH-cam. I have mentioned in the past, overnight trips just seem like a waster of all the time to prepared and go, and so little time relaxing and enjoying the beauty of nature. Maybe you are driven to be moving and don't do relaxation and beauty as much as I do. When I first retired I made long, like a 4 month trip from the east coast to the west coast and up to the Alaska Marine Highway ferry, spent a month in Alaska and back to Tennessee across the north, only rarely staying more than one night in a place, but time and age has changed that..

I love doing recon trips like this to uncover new areas I never been out to camp.
My last trip my fiancée, our dog and myself dicovered a backcountry water fall. Had the place to ourselves. Thats why I do little recon trips to expand my camping areas. Makes me want a trailer to pull a quad behind my jeep for the ATV trails on the eastern slopes of the rockies.

Carry antihistamines for bug bites. Never had problems with very occasional bug bites till one day I did. I was older at that time.

Being in Northern Ireland we have no bears (never mind snakes, spiders or anything that can take us out in the wild) Hard to imagine being in nature and needing to bring spray let alone a gun etc 😂Enjoyed this, thanks brother!

I am also have a bare head and my doctor now insists that I use a hat while out in the sun. I use an Australian style hat and it’s cool and lose fitting, so no more pre-cancerous scares for me. Hope the same for you..👍.
The final observation that siren sound gives me an eerie feeling when in the woods by myself, so stay safe for I fear the two legged predators the most.
