Thank you for the special gift, I love the painting and a really love the story of painting it.
I actually went to Poland recently, and spend my birthday there. The painting captures the Northwest corner of the castle, the prominent tower, story has, was used for the fall trials for witches.
Kto to wie, nie ja 😊

This is beautiful. My parents try to be pretty supportive even though they don't get it and want me to get a real job, so its incredible to see your dad be very supportive for you. This is such a thoughtful and incredible gift I hope he loves it ❤

Thank you, YES I've definitely heard my fair share of "real job" from a number of people before, so I definitely empathize with you on that one... I'm so grateful for those in my life who do support me, and I hope you have/find a good number of people in your life backing you as well!

This is so beautiful! There’ve been so many times where I tap my drawing with two fingers (the procreate undo) only to realize that this is in fact my sketchbook. I’d be very intrigued to see what you could do with oils!

Forgetting that art is a viable gift truly is part of being an artist. I forget that now that I have experience and knowledge of art it's not the same as a child gifting their parents a new drawing every other day. Don't get me wrong children who like to make gifts are amazing and such a joy but I couldn't blame any parents who were like actually maybe you keep the twentieth drawing of a horse you did this week for yourself.
I love the little history lesson on the side. I find it very sad how little I actually know about Poland even though Germany is right next to it. Scheduling is hard but I for once am happy to have gotten slightly better at it (as in I didn't finish my cosplay the night before the convention but the day before XD)
I'm so glad your father is supportive and other members of your family as well! I have never thought about the people around me having any trouble with what I decide to do especially with my art. Although I understand feeling anxious about what those closest to you think about what you do and how. I'm just glad you're finding it easier through the support of a loved person!
Thinking about not knowing how you actually produce the art, I recently thought about if I liked making art. I came to the shocking realisation that I can't really name one part of drawing I enjoy? I know that I like doing art and that I like creating but it feels really hard to pin down what about it I actually like. Sometimes it just feels like I'm doing it because I always have been. I hope that doesn't sound depressing it's not what I mean to convey more that art is a lot of vibes a lot of the time XD
Oftentimes I think there's an idea like a concept I want to explore but less concrete ideas (like colours or shape language etc.) and then I just see where I'm going? XD
I have to say you painting all the bricks was very satisfying to watch. It looked nice early on already but it just got better! There's something about watching traditional that just hits different (at least for me).
I tried taking recipes not on colours (in my head of course XD) and even when I thought I got the colours right.. I didn't.
For me gouache is really what I'm hoping for to find my calling in traditional art XD
    Cat appeared!
On oil paint I am very afraid of oil paint but it also really doesn't lend itself to my way of painting. So lucky I won't have to step out of my comfort zone (I should do that for my digital art though either way XD)
The painting turned out so well. Very * aesthetic * reveal plus cat content = purrfection!
I don't ever expect anyone to share such personal information with just anyone on the internet so I'm glad you didn't feel pressured to do so yourself. All that matters is that you liked it and your father did as well.
Also happy (very) late birthday father SplitChin! XD

Giving your parents a new drawing of a horse every day is SO real. And speaking of gifts, every single new craft-hobby I pick up just opens up a whole new world of gift giving and for some reason I NEVER remember this when birthdays start rolling around.
I am always unsure of how little or how much people know about Poland because for me it's just always been a part of my life, even if I don't live there. So I never know how much context is needed when I talk about Poland. But the two most important things about Poland: VERY beautiful country, such good mountains and castles and lore-- and also excellent food. Best versions of potatoes in existence (in my opinion haha)
Thinking consciously about thing you've just been doing forever is really hard! ITS VIBES!
Gouache is also a SUPER beautiful paint medium, the art is always so clean looking, I just love watching people paint leaves and grass with gouache

@@LadySplitChin It truly is and for some reason I always only used a new hobby when I picked it up as a gift and not when I was more skilled in it XD
Plus I find it hard sometimes to connect the things I can do to something others might enjoy and ideally also use. I do fear to give out gifts that might be nice to look at but some day clutter up.
Honestly I have no idea what one can generally expect anyone to know. I can say however that for most people in Germany the awareness for Poland is noticeably small besides maybe interesting architecture (especially regarding the history the two countries have O.o)
I find Polish to be a very interesting languages that I'd love to at least understand one day! I will have to do some research in potatoes it seems.
Sometimes I suspect I drive my girlfriend insane with how I describe most things as "those vibes you know" but there's no better way to say it! XD
My Gouache still need a look for work to get there but I've seen quite a few very pretty Ghibli illustrations done with it! The only problem is that the full colour pallet plus brush and water is a lot to carry around for just casual sketching but that's what I do the most if I cannot draw digitally.
I like to imagine others stumbling onto them and following the trail like a detective XD
It just brings me so much joy watching and adding my thoughts! I have audibly chuckled so often reading your answers as well so thank you for not being scared of the walls of text I create

Aww yes what a lovely and thoughtful gift! When I make gifts I always get that inkling thought in the back of my head too, (I blame a teacher in middle school who threw away a card I made for her right in front of me nonchalant). But I’ve never had that issue again all thease years later.
(Also in that meme I love my dad camp XD)
Here in America we don’t have much for standing old castles. If we talk the US main ones I would wholly consider would be the cliff dwellings from various native peoples. Montezuma castle in arazona comes to mind. But those aren’t exactly in the streets we walk on.
Lovely to see, I don’t mind the feels/deep talks. It’s great to hear different people’s experiences weather they are relatable or less so. E>>>

      Thank you!! :))
Also I GASPED out loud reading about the middle school teacher, I'm glad that that hasn't happened to you since!
I definitely would agree the cliff dwellings would be the sort of US equivalent, definitely not something you just pass on the streets-- but THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL.
