Jordan Fabrics all of them are beautiful. Difficult to choose which one is best
Tricky question there y'all! The great thing is they ALL look wonderful. However, the Batik (Matt) & the Earthtone (Donna) are neck and neck in color choices for me. Calling it a TIE!
You both chose beautiful fabrics. I am partial to the brown and gold combination. But then again, I think of the table runner made with the patriotic fabrics. Would make a very nice table runner for July.
Jordan Fabrics I really like the red, white and blue and the one you demonstrated how to make.
I really love the gold star in the middle one best! Love your tutorials, I’m in the uk, my friend and I discuss your videos all the time, she’s currently doing the Bargello table runner. Thank you!
I loved watching this again after SIX YEARS! They all turned out beautiful, thank you sew so many times.
I apsolutely how you present and instruct. Your so calm and precise. Never change how you do your tutorials. Thank you your like a friend the way you show all us newbie or we that just need somebody to give us confidence.
Very well said!! I totally agree!!
Love your tutorials. You saved my bacon for a challenge for a quilting retreat that I will be attending in Nov. 2021.
Your method for cutting and piecing the Lone Star makes this a pattern I want to try. When my Mom made a full size Lone Star Quilt in the 70's, she used cardboard templates she drew and cut out (which spread as she used them). Each diamond was cut out separately, and she fussed with all those Y seams! It was so involved-I never would have been motivated to try!
You have the best quilt making videos on TH-cam. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your talents. You are a natural born teacher!
You are such a great teacher. You make everything look so easy and it inspires me to create. Thank you so much
I love Matt!! He seems like a great husband who really supports Donna. It’s awesome they share a passion for quilting.
I always thought this would be a really hard pattern to sew, but Donna, you made it look so easy. I will definitely be doing this one. Thank you so much for your great tutorials. Love the fabrics you both chose.
agree when i see this pattern i always freak out but watching this video she makes look easier & I love all the ones you made
i got all strips cut but when line up to sew they way off :(
cut new fabric & i finally made this tyvm for video im thinking i make another 1
@@dorisroot514 I have made a couple. I was intimidated by the angles. She is an excellant teacher. I have followed several of her tutorials with better results than I could have hoped for. I am making a few right now and going to try putting them into a larger quilt as you go
Hi Donna, I have to say you're a great tutorial. I'm a Korean grandma and so good at English. But I can understand you very well. Your direction is very clear and you also show us, if we do it wrong or another way it will turn out this way. I haven't made any quilt project yet, but I am tempted to start one soon. I'm was afraid I will get stuck in the middle of the project.
My brother has been asking for a lone star quilt for years. I know I can do this. Thanks for another great video.
I watch these tutorials over & over.... I'm really liking Matt's first choice!
Donna and Matt, as sidenote: I work part time at Panera (retired here) and yesterday ran into two Lady's that are quilters (one had a pattern for a baby blanket on her table). As quilters do, we chatted and quickly turned to doing a Lone Star. I told them about your channel. Told both of them about your tutorial on the Lone Star and just how EASY and clear it was. They whipped out their cells so quickly it almost gave them carpal tunnel, lol! Gotta love the fact that we quilters not only watch, but spread the word on great tutorials!
Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi Donna, Please keep the tutorials coming..they are a life-saver....I was just skimming thru and saw the lone star you made and copied you and what do you know...magic-like....I made a Lone Star baby quilt. Thank you so much. I am so grateful they are still on the tube. God bless you guys.
I love your tutorials. I HAD STOPPED QUILTING, I HAVEN'T MADE A QUILT IN 6 YEARS, BUT BECAUSE OF YOU I'M AM GOING BACK TO IT! I WISH THAT I LIVED NEAR YOUR SHOP. YOUR FABRIC SELECTION FASCINATES ME. THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME FALL IN LOVE WITH QUILTING AGAIN.
This is brilliant. Just brilliant. Have always wanted to make a lone star, but didn’t want to deal with the bias with individual diamonds. Appreciate the samples in different colorways. Can’t wait to see the video for this in a larger size - I don’t do wallhangings. Would love to do a lap- or twin-sized quilt with this method!
I love the batik one!! You guys are adorable picking out fabric!! Amazing little quilts!! Thank you
The strip sets look much easier than the separate triangles of the last Lone Star. Thank you so much for your tutorials.
I just rewatched this video and decided to go ahead and get Matt's kit with the Kaufman Batiks - Totally Tropical. Donna always breaks down the most complex looking designs so their doable for me. 😊👍💕
Pp
The lone star was great. Looks like something I would like to do , your tutorial are so easy to follow with excellent instructions. Thanks
Thanks Donna Jordan for the great project and patterns!
These are the best instructions to make a lone Star. Thank you Donna
This is exactly the tutorial I needed to make this beautiful quilt. ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Loved them all but my favorite one is the Americana. When I finish my current quilt I think I will put this one at the top of my lineup. Thank you so much for the clear and helpful tutorials.
This is my favorite also but loved them all. Thanks for such beautiful work, u make it look so easy
I love all your tutorials. This is the first one I tried and it turned out awesome. I sew all the time, but clothes not quilts. It was scary for me because this is very out of my comfort zone. My husband bought a jelly roll for me and once I started it was so much fun. Wish I tried a long time ago. Thank you so much for great instruction. Mary
Donna.......you are a FABULOUS instructor!!! Thank you and your hubby SEW much for ALL you do for us quilters!!! I have learned a lot from you and have also made a few of your projects....this is NEXT!!!
Very clear teaching of a clever technique of using strips instead of diamonds.
I am a Navy Vet and of course I really love the red, white and blues! Thank you!
Hi Donna n matt, I did it!! I made a lone star quilt, after a lot of choice words n mile n miles of unpicking lol I finally finished.... I love it. Thank you both for helping me achieve something that I thought would be impossible for me to make :-)
The blue and yellow one is nice for a baby quilt! Very pretty! 😊
Just amazing and so so Beautiful ! Thanks for all your Kindness of showing your ways of doing all these magnificent teaching abilities you share with us. It is -50 with windchill but sitting here watching your tutorial makes my day warm and fuzzy. Bless you and Matt for all your Kindness and lessons. They are all amazing ! Love them all.
I have seen several tutorials on the loan star block but this is, by far, the easiest one to follow. Many thanks.😊
I Love how you explain everything. Your fabrics are beautiful to. I watch all your tubes. Tell Matt we sure love how he cuts so many beautiful kits. I hope to stop at your shop someday! 💕💕💕
Thank you for providing and sharing those beautiful learning sessions. I'm a great fan.💐
I am so very thankful that I found your videos! You are my favorite teacher because your tutorials are clearly the best out there. Your tips are the most helpful and you have not only made sewing easier for me but I now understand the process better. I love your instructions on cutting and keeping track of your piecing. Thank you, thank you!!!!
I recently purchased the jelly roll Lone Star table topper kit. I can’t wait to make it. I’m sure I will be referring back to this tutorial as I make it. Your instructions are very clear and concise. Thank you for all you do to help us become better quilt makers.
Thanks for this tutorial, Donna. I’m a newbie and all my points aren’t perfect, but I’m pleased with the way it turned out. You are so precise in your teachings, and this so helps us beginners. Thanks again, Sallie
Hi Dona beautiful quilts. I love the gold star quilt. I have always wanted to sew a lonestar quilt but thought it was far too difficult but you have made it easy to follow. Thank you and matt.
Greetings from London.
I have always wanted to make this BUT being a new quilter( 3 years ) always thinking it would be hard, watching you making this its so easy I can do it, thank you.
angela harding I thought the same. I have been quilting for just over 2 years.
These would make wonderful NICU/baby quilts--they wind up being the exact size needed. They look so beautiful--don't take much material but wind up looking so amazing. Plus you learn and perfect a new technique. Just love these!!
Looks like this would speed up making a star quilt. Thanks you again!
I absolutely love your teaching methods! The Lone Star has always looked intimidating to me. After watching this tutorial, I have the confidence to give it a try! Definitely ordering a kit. Thank you, Donna!
Thank you for fantastic step-by-step detail....seriously, your tutorials make me want to jump up and make something new every time I watch your tutorials! Keep on creating!! Oh, and your fabrics is the best.
Hi Donna and Matt. I love your tutorials. You make it look so easy. Keep them coming. Jane from England
I love all your videos Donna. You make everything look so easy. I have to say the rusts and golds you used for your tutorial star are by far my favourite of the four. Gorgeous.
Those stripes with the red, white and blue are really neat, once pieced into the pattern.
I've always loved patriotic fabrics! I've ordered some patriotic fabrics to do a quilt for my sons 50th birthday. He is in law enforcement and so the center star will be blue of course to represent The Blue Line. Just received the fabrics today and will get started tomorrow as I'm watching the videos tonight.
I absolutely love watching your teaching videos Donna and Matt! i have never been to Oregon, but coming to see your shop and meet you is on my bucket list!
This is by far the simplest way to go about doing the Lone Star Quilt. Love it!
I received one of these Lone Star Quilts in red and green Christmas swirl fabric. I’m going to give it a try. Wish me luck! Thank you Donna and Matt. Love your tutorials.
Just getting to see this video. Love ❤️ all the prints.
I have learned so much from both of you, but mostly Donna ❤️ thanks for making it so easy.
I don’t know how it works for you perfectly without pinning and your seams match exactly. I hope it works for me too but time will tell..thank you for inspiring me to try!
Wow! ...and we've been led to believe these are supposed to be difficult! You made it look so easy, with lovely results!
My favorite is the Red, White, & Blue. Would make a great center for a Quilt of Valor. Great video.
Absolutely love this pattern! And your color combo's 😍
You do such a wonderful job of explaining every step...thank you so much...and I think they all look great!
Thank you Donna and Matt for another Great tutorial. Thank you also for making the patterns free to download, you have inspired so many of us via You Tube and having the patterns easy to download is a real gift. You both have a good eye for choosing colours and placing fabrics, I thought all combinations were lovely, for me though I think the 'biscuits and gravy' were very cheery. Wishing you greater success with your new shop in 2018. Best wishes from UK.
Thank you for this lovely clear video. You help us all enormously. A lone star always looks daunting. You make it so successful.
I did not think I would like red, white, and blue block. However, the block is amazing. The other color waves are also beautiful.
Donna, Thank you for your gentle way of teaching. You explain everything so well and not in a rush. As a beginner quilter you give me confidence to be a quilter.
Donna and Matt, thank you for another wonderful video!
Your videos are the best. I feel very confident I can make each project! Thank you both!
All colors are nice, But the red,White & blue is my favorite . So Matt picked the best! Love watching your shows!
These are beautiful! Love the way you take your time to explain things. I saw many of these star quilts in Amish Country yesterday and thought I’d never be able to make one....until now! Thank you.
Love the stars. I just worrying if I can get the cutting. Looks easy. I love watching your show. What everyday, all of them.
I love your videos. I have been finger pressing a lot of seams, and it really works before you iron. Thanks so much Donna!
Congratulations you guys....Cannot choose wich is the best material.. Very lovely and hard work too. Thank you.
Thanks again Matt and Donna, you make these Lone Star quilts look a lot more doable, have always loved them, but could not figure out how to do them.
Hi Donna and Matt, thank you very much for your tutorials. Love it!!! I look every day in TH-cam and i`m very happy if i see tutorials from you. Greetings from Germany, Dagmar
I was so impressed with this block that I got out my sewing machine and fabric and am making one right now !! Donna you are such an expect - there was not way I could wing it with my points, I had to pin each one, but your tips were definitely "on point". Love your tutorials as usual !!
Love all of them. The Batiks one (unquilted) is gorgeous. Your tutorials are Amazing.
Love them all. Your tutorials are fantastic. Thank you 🙏 ❤️🇨🇦
Thanks Donna!!! 1st, thank you for keeping the steps bite-sized and for showing how each has different layout possibility . There’s never any confusion with you. Second, this is the best view I’ve had of your shop and it’s as gorgeous as I imagined!!! It’s so you. Welcoming and warm and organized!
Hello Matt & Donna, I love all of them, but I have to say the one with the golden yellow star is my favorite, next would be the Americana one it is beautiful also. I love your tutorials and you really do a superb job on making a difficult pattern seem easy. Matt does a wonderful job of cutting too, we should all be so lucky to have one of him in our sewing rooms. Love the new shop.....
What a fantastic how to video, thanks again > I love the all four color way but Matt's star and the one next to his are my favs.....
As always, a wonderful tutorial Donna ( and Matt)! I love that y'all took the time to downsize for a table topper, or even a smaller centerpiece for a quilt top. Who doesn't have leftover 2.5" strips? I've made 3 Lone Star's, thanks to you, from your original video, and YES, Lone Star's are addictive!!!
I love sewing and admiring Lone Star Quilts. Ths was fun to watch and gave me some good ideas. Thanks.
I love the look of the new shop! The star quilts all look gorgeous. Please keep the tutorials coming.
Wow, I love seeing these in the different color combinations. Thanks for sharing your videos and tips. I'm new to quilting and never knew to do a shorter stitch length when I would be cutting the strip sets up. Now I know. Many thanks!
I am always amazed at your tutorials. Thank you so much.
Thank you! You are a great teacher and very easy to follow.
Matt saying he was low in stock made me 😃. I wish I could visit the store sometime unlikely as I live in UK and although I can get something s from your uk store there's still things I'd like which cost a lot to ship. Absolutely love all the videos
Thank you Donna love your tutorials I have not been quilting for long but really feel that I can attempt the lone star now. Can't wait to get started. Greetings for the UK
Wonderful to see you work together on this video.
You inspired me to do this! Your tutorials are so clear and easy to follow, thank you so much for that. I made a patriot one from my stash and hung it over my fireplace.
They are all beautiful. My favorites are the browns and gold which Donna used and the batiks, which Matt used. Thank you both for these wonderful tutorials. I always thought this type of quilt would be hard to make, but after watching you, I just know I can do it.
I just found this tutorial and it is absolutely fantastic. Thank you both for your really excellent guidance in fabric selection, cutting and quilt making. I am currently staying at home in Dublin, Ireland, due to the Corona Virus and I will be spending my home time tomorrow making a lone star from your wonderful instructions.
Thanks a lot to both of you for this wonderful tutorial. I was in search for this smaller version of lone star because I want to put in one of the show & there is size restrictions. I loved your other big lone star tutorial also but that is big for that competition. Even today also I searched in TH-cam small version but was not very clear tutorials available. Glad you both did it. From tomorrow I can start on my quilt. I will put your name in that competition as it’s your design.
I was absolutely thrilled to see your second choice of fabrics Donna, way too go!! They are all going to be wonderful finished stars but the second group, for me, wins hands down.
I love you videos and instructions! Think I have found my fabric go to store !
Wow! Having made a Lone Star the traditional way with Y-seams (and it was okay) I can't wait to try this method. All 4 samples were superb but I guess the Americana really stands out for me. Great job!
After 8 years quilting, I now think I can make one of these! Thank you, they all looked beautiful - especially the batik one .
I have learn so much from your tutorials. Thank you from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Love them all. The Americana is striking but love the batiks. Wonderful, and hope I get to make one 😊

I watched a friend to make a lone star, one Diamond at a time. I love this way so much better. I might actually be able to do this
Loved the biscuit and gravy. Ordered the kit today. Thanks your videos are fantastic.
my personal preference would be the red and brown. angles are a challenge for me but you did it again--you made this look so easy! this is a doer and keeper, love it. thank you both.
The American combo is always my choice. And this would make a beautiful Quilt of Valor center!
They all came out very beautiful! I can’t wait to make mine! I’m in love with this project! You explained very well! I love your tutorials! Thank you for sharing! ❤️🥰happy sewing 🧵🤗🌞
