@@nicholasmelchor3038 if you compare the bears and chiefs from 1960 to 2017, their histories are very similar. Sure, the chiefs have 5 more playoff appearances, but both the bears and chiefs won an nfl championship and a Super Bowl in that time period. The bears have two more conference championship appearances and the same number of Super Bowl appearances as the chiefs (2).
Kurt also said CJ Stroud was a great college QB, but his game wouldn’t transition at all to the NFL, Zach Wilson is most likely to have a ton of success than anyone drafted in the past decade, Justin Herbert would struggle in the NFL, and Bryce Young’s size wouldn’t limit what he could do.
Is it the development or is it scouting. I think we just haven’t had the right guy. Ppl think Fields was the guy are just lost in athleticism he has no feel for the position.
Chicago already gave Justin Fields 3 years. Were they perfect or ideal? No. But sometimes the perfect situation doesn't come around and you have to make the best of it. Justin Herbert had Brandon Staley to deal with and nobody doubts Justin Herbert even with a losing record they just see his talent and understanding of the game and that's the difference between just having a losing record and seeing the potential in a quarterback. And seeing progress.... The Bears didn't just invest in Justin Fields, they have to pay the coaches, coordinators, the other players they are investing tens of millions into what the quarterback position and bring and if you can't show results then it's a bad investment for the future. Has he ever had a season of at least .500? Has he ever been to the playoffs? Last year he didn't even win more than 2 games in a row. These are all signs and you don't see even the small progress. The ultimate goal is to win the super bowl, but he hasn't even won the small battles to get to the stage where you are close to winning the war. The fanboys of justin fields are probably the most annoying thing because they make you have to point out everything about justin fields that is wrong when you don't want to but they keep making excuses that is madening when it's clear by year 3, the progressions are so small, it's not worth the investment if you're hemorrhaging money in support of his career development. Can justin fields make a drastic change in year 4? Maybe, nothing is certain. But if you're factoring the odds of him not, it's more likely that he'll continue his trend from the first 3 years onto the 4th year than to throw an random year where he explodes in production. It's more of a gamble to gamble someone who's been showing you his steady results than to gamble against it and hope that he makes some drastic change in his game that makes him worth keeping for the bears.
This is the Mahomes effect where every QB is compared to him, for good or for bad. Instead of finding a QB like Brock Purdy that sits goes through his progressions and reads the field. Remember that Mahomes actually sat for a year behind Alex Smith in trying to prepare for games and study. Whereas these new QB will be forced to adapt and start immediately. That is a recipe for disaster. Even Josh Allen took awhile to truly develop.

I just don't see Caleb being successful as a bears fan. I see him as a full soon to be bust. We never put anything around Fields who has improved each year as a QB and now we give up getting the trade backs to fill in what is about 8+ needed spots on the roster for a QB who will come into a roster with some major holes on it. We are putting another group of cast off offensive lineman up in front of him and if we do address the offensive line we have a bare bones WR room and missing players on the defensive line and secondary. I just see Caleb getting hurt early on while trying to do too much like Justin had to do and we end up with 6 to 7 wins this coming season told that Caleb will fix us soon. All the while the new shiny WR we picked up in free agency leaves us for a better situation and we need to pick up 8+ more players in the next off season cause we just don't have the draft capitol to do it. The part that really scares me is that Caleb struggled against the good defenses he played against in college and most of the teams he played against had bad to really bad defenses. Caleb is just like any other QB and most of the time new QBs in the league fail. Then we have what was an improving QB who has flaws that we pushed off the team only to be set back in 3 years time when we need to look for the next "generational" QB with our 5 win season that lets us draft at number 5 in the draft. Where we could this year have traded back for 3 first round picks of a really bad team and get MHJ who is really the only lock of a player who will be amazing outside of injury. We could move off Fields in the future if he didn't pan out with a later round pick of a QB which most teams that do that get a good QB. I don't need Mahomes 2.0 since we won't be good enough around him to pull out his potential. We won't have the talent around him to make him be successful.
Caleb Williams is ABSOLUTELY NOT Patrick Mahomes. Does not have the same mindset or carry himself the same way. The only thing similar is he can make crazy arm angle throws. And by the way, that is 3-4 a game
