Coulson is a Canadian company too. A new, upgraded version of the CL-415 is on the drawing boards. They won't help now, but more are needed for future disasters
The CL215s are hard to keep in service because they are piston engines. The 415s are Pratt and Whitney turbines - made in Canada. The Canadair production line was shut down and bought by De Havilland. With good marketing, the CL515 will always a customer base.

Nice catches, it's unfortunate that these aircraft have to battle six different fires due to the Archer fire that started yesterday in Granada Hills. One was also grounded after it was hit by a drone the other day.
Good news is now as I'm writing all fires but the Palisades & Eaton Fires are almost fully contained. Thank you very much for watching and yes we are very lucky that we didn't have the Super Scooper crash because of that drone. 👍😎
WHat part of the plane was hit, and where was the location? I saw the super scoopers flying over us just before 1pm, and the news mentioned that it happened around that time. I'm wondering if it was the 2 boys that went into the canyon and left immediately after they flew over us back to Van Nuys. The boys had a drone when i saw them walk into the canyon😊

I hope Trump appreciates the resources Canada is providing to fight these fires. Canada will always be there to help our neighbor in times of need even though we not the fifty first state. Hopefully this disaster ends soon so people can start rebuilding their lives.
Trump needs to think about the resources we send south during these types of events. Hydro crews after Hurricanes. Air crews and firefighters for forest fires. Lets not forget Halifax on 9/11 the number of Americans we helped out. I'm a MAGA guy, conservative, Id vote republican, but he really needs to stop shooting from the hip and take better aim.

Most planes drop fire retardant, like Phos-Chek. Usually, it's a red powder mixed with water at an air-tanker base. The nearest base to this fire is Fox Field in Lancaster. The DC-10 can only be accommodated by a few tanker bases in the state, the nearest is San Bernardino. I'm pretty sure some of the helicopters were using sea water, suppose they prefer not to. Like the times I've seen them dropping dirty water from small reservoirs.

Californians need to all ask the Californian authorities why they haven’t purchased a Superscooper yet. Demographically California is the same size as Canada. If McGill University can produce a superscooper why isn’t a Californian University producing their own version?
Why doesn't the mighty U S military deploy some of their huge helicopter capability for fire fighting. Or are they too busy preparing to invade Greenland. ? Why doesnt/hasn't the Air National Guard got a fleet of C L 415 water bombers ready for deployment ? Fire fighting would be a great role for the National guard, they are used to control riots etc, so why not forest fires ? The C L 415 water bomber carries at least between 4 to 6 times the load of a helicopter, it is better than the DC 10 or 747 water bombers as it's turn around time is much shorter, only having to scoop up water, not land to reload etc, and they drop lower and more accurately.
The CL-415 was never purchased by the US, because Canada and the US have a different geography. The CL-415 is efficient only if it has access to a nearby large body of water where it can scoop water. In Canada, we have hundreds of thousands of large lakes everywhere. In the US, it's unfortunately not the case Helicopters are thus better in the US since they can get water from smaller lakes or ponds where a CL-415 wouldn't be able to scoop water
