Big Winter Snowfall Walk in Downtown Toronto - January, 2020 [4K]

- A 4K downtown Toronto walk through the biggest snowfall of the 2020 winter season so far. I start out on Front Street just across from Union station and head over to University Avenue. Then I wander my way up along Richmond to Queen Street and cut through Chinatown and Baldwin Village before making my way over to the skating rink at City Hall. Despite the snowstorm it was only -2 degrees Celsius. The distance walked was 4.5 km.

i'll always remember this storm because it was the day of my dads funeral ... the snow making everything so eerily quiet and dreary was quite fitting

Haven’t been to Toronto for 20 years. Brought back a few memories seeing signs for Spadina, York Street, Younge Street and the Chinese Quarter. Thank you for the memories.
I appreciate your tenacity to do these walks, regardless if it's so cold. Thank you Johnny. I appreciate it so much. My fondest memories are walking thru those streets. On the weekends I would look for a new place to eat or just look at the fascinating scenery of the great city. BTW, even though there have been many changes, the city will never lose that charm! ❤

I miss walking. I also miss North America. I always wanted to visit Canada, especially Toronto and Montreal. This was very comforting but also bittersweet, as now the chance I'll ever visit is greatly diminished. And even if I could, I couldn't walk.

Oh, I didn't go skating. My camera was covered in snow and soaking wet (it's not waterproof at all lol) and I wanted to stop and dry it off so I though that was a good place to end it :)

Yeah, it seems to be fine. I've used this one so much I'd be shocked if it lasted much longer. I'm fully prepared to buy a new one at a moment's notice lol... if I had a bigger channel DJI would probably send me one but oh well.

Our winter's tend to be more bare than they are white. It hasn't snowed much at all this winter.

I live in Phoenix AZ. and drivers are not courteous either. However, there is a state law for driver’s to stop for pedestrians in all crosswalks. I saw many times as you were walking where drivers did not yield to you or other pedestrians, but indeed drove into driveways and intersections without stopping for pedestrians as if no one was walking. How selfish, me first.
Sadly it's pretty much the wild-west on the streets. The police have stopped enforcing traffic laws and drivers are getting away with more and more (as are cyclists and even pedestrians...). These entitled, me-first drivers are genuinely making the city's streets unsafe. Sorry to hear you have to deal with the same nonsense in Phoenix.

11:50 At Duncan st. If you take a right, and walk a few paces, there's an alleyway on your right that is almost always unoccupied. I hung out there after work a lot around November/December. Great place to smoke weed if you're downtown and want some peace and quiet. It's actually pretty incredible how quiet it is there considering it's across the street from a horrible place where evil acts are committed.

"Despite the snowstorm it was only -2 degrees Celsius", actually that's not surprising at all, it's a common myth to think that snowfall means it is bitterly cold outside, but that's not true, snow happens when the temperature is around the freezing point, it's all meteo science (the colder the air, the drier it is). Despite to what the power of the image may suggest, the coldest temperatures only happen under clear and windless conditions.
Good point, I seldom feel freezing temperatures during snowstorms unless there's a particularly strong wind.

From Scotland myself and strangely we've not had much, so far anyway.
I remember it snowing heavily every year as a kid and would often stay out in it for hours and always felt a bit sad when the rain arrived and washed it all away.

It goes in cycles, some winters we barely have any snow at all. You're right, there's a very different atmosphere in the city when it snows. I'd love to visit Scotland some day!
