I have always wanted to figure out the name of this song. I just love it...a capella though. This is the 1st song sung in the movie, The Apostle... ...it gives me chills.
Soon ah will be don' a-wid de troubles ob de worl', de troubles ob de worl', de troubles ob de worl'. Soon ah will be don' a-wid de troubles ob de worl', Goin' home to live wid God. I wan' to meet my Jesus (x3), I goin to live wid God. Soon ah will be don' a-wid de troubles ob de worl' (de worl')(T, B) de troubles ob de worl', de troubles ob de worl' (de worl'. Oh,) Soon ah will be don' a-wid de troubles ob de worl', Goin' home to live wid God (T, B, A) No more weepin' an' a wailin' (x3) I'm goin' to live wid God. Soon ah will be done, etc. I wan' to meet my Jesus (x3), I'm goin' to live wid God. (S. In de mornin' Lord!)
I need to understand that form to speak and writte in English so typical in African American people. Why: de troubles ob de worl', instead of: the troubles of the world? Could you explaing me, please?
The origins of the song “Soon Ah Will Be Done” can be traced back to African American slave spirituals. However, the exact authorship of the song is unknown, as it has evolved and been passed down through generations as a part of oral tradition.… so Allegro was added by an arranger, not composer
@@paulspringer3303 And that arranger knows more than you and me, so it's Allegro and it's the correct version. Also have you ever performed this piece under the leadership of an experienced conductor? I doubt it. I have, and I know the correct tempo.
Most magnificent rendition ever
Definitely the best recording of this song. No contest.
The best on TH-cam maybe but not the best recording
sounds just like David Lipscomb College a cappella chorus 1982-85 (forget which year) recording that I have.
yeeesss sang this at my choir concert 💚
Thats my kind of gospel music.
I sang this last year In choir, best song of the year lmao. If you put the speed to 1.25, that's the speed we took it.
TunnelSnake_Airsoft thanks! This is the best recording minus the original speed
yesss we did it that speed also when i did this with my high school choir
I sang this in school once and we sped it up that fast too. I liked it sped up
too fast will not let you 'think and mean' the words. It is still anticipation. HS tend to sing it fast as they don't have the power to sustain.
Yas, they tore this song UP! Good job

love this song!
is bad
Best recording when at 1.25 speed. That's actually the correct tempo
Yes, indeed…only it makes the vibrati way too fast and quite distracting. But what a performance!
how do you know the "correct tempo" from 200 years ago?
@@paulspringer3303 Because the composer wrote "Allegro" on his composition? Are you serious?
