Just something interesting to note : The jade used in the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 is not the kind of Burmese jade tt this video is about. That jade used in the 2008 Olympics medal is a kind of jade known as Nephrite. The granular structure of the Nephrite is different from Jadeite. The ones that are highly valued and used in jewelry is jadeite which is harder than Nephrite. Nephrite is usually softer, cheaper and usually used in large statute carvings.

With increasing popularity and prices of jadeite, many "treated" jade pieces have appeared on the market. They are so well-made that many buyers are tricked into paying high prices for them. This programme tries to educate consumers into distinguishing original jadeite from treated jadeite which is harmful to the body when worn over long time. My Chinese is also poor but i m trying to understand this series of programme as best as i can. This super green piece is a treated/dyed piece.
