I remember back in the 70’s&80’s We use to have gatherings at grandma and grandpa house and aunts and uncle’s houses it’s so sad that today generation don’t do that
I was born in the 50s. I miss the world. I grew up in the stories of respect and family gatherings is something I enjoy. I’m the youngest of six. My parents are both gone. I really appreciate your storytelling. Thank you so much.❤
My grandmother owned the local store and every Saturday afternoon everyone would meet on the front porch and play bluegrass music. It was the only day Grandpa would sell homemade spirit's. They would come from miles around even the local Sheriff,he would always get his for free. This continued until the early 1970's.

I love these stories. Reminds me of back home when I was a kid. We hit the floors at 4:30 except Saturdays. We got to sleep in an hour. All the neighbors whopped our backsides if we did wrong. I've always wondered why my mom still gets up around 5:30 every morning.. She doesn't work anymore. She's 77 now, long retired. But she still rises before the sun comes up. I never got that! Must be habit.

I watch videos on the Appalachian way of life and the amazing music that is played and sang there, the famous and the families just having a good time. I hope you do more of these videos showing a stunning lifestyle, without money, but more than made up for with the love, unless there was a grudge between families of course, they could go on for generations. We were taught RESPECT in the school of bad whoopings to if we didn’t have RESPECT. One look from mama or daddy or granny and we knew we’d messed up and we remembered it for a long time to.

My Skippy was named Rinnie, he was a German Shepherd my Dad gave me to show, but he also trained Rinnie as a defense protection dog, which is how he saved my life and earned my dad's love forever. Thank you for sharing Skippy with us, Brother.
We used to gather up like that at my uncle Pruitt's house. Aunt Lillian and my cousins Sheila and Becky and Jenny would cook up a big meal, all us kids ran the dirt road or out through the woods, and my dad and cousin Randy would break out the dobro or guitar or whatever was handy and sing and play. Those days were the best and I'd give anything to hear those songs and smell that chicken and taters cooking again.

I remember them times i really do miss them I sure do. For just one more chance to live a week back at granny’s place I would be so grateful. Just one week I’d settle for 3 days. I loved that GOD fearing Christian Lady so much and I’ll see her again one day soon I’m sure of it and I’m looking forward to it to Amen 🙏.
We were taught RESPECT in the school of bad whoopings to if we didn’t have RESPECT. One look from mama or daddy or granny and we knew we’d messed up and we remembered it for a long time to.

My Skippy was named Rinnie, he was a German Shepherd my Dad gave me to show, but he also trained Rinnie as a defense protection dog, which is how he saved my life and earned my dad's love forever. Thank you for sharing Skippy with us, Brother.

We used to gather up like that at my uncle Pruitt's house. Aunt Lillian and my cousins Sheila and Becky and Jenny would cook up a big meal, all us kids ran the dirt road or out through the woods, and my dad and cousin Randy would break out the dobro or guitar or whatever was handy and sing and play. Those days were the best and I'd give anything to hear those songs and smell that chicken and taters cooking again.
