Sita is a catalyst of this movie. for the first time after 2 to 3 decades we are seeing Telugu heroine finally getting recognition in Telugu. Vaishnavi is powerful performer. She deserves long run. Finally music composition sounds like anirudh school of music. The main song film will get cult status. It's very addictive.

When you open a film on a character and end it on the same character, zoom in on the quotes and lines he writes from his experiences and play a sad score every time he gets sad about his gf, you ARE taking sides with that character. That's the most basic thing any audience can comprehend. I loved Sai Rajesh's Hrudaya Kaleyam and Kobbari Matta. Never thought he couldn't even know how toxic our male audiences are and how patriarchal our society is. Seriously!

@@saisivaprasadlanka1902 It still is an unfathomable excuse. He made it for over two years. Nowhere he tried to convey that Anand was an asshole despite his doing all toxic shit. Every scene of his looked like the filmmaker was pleading us to root for him by playing a sad score in the background. The bridge scene was nauseating, Anand shows his peak state of assholery whining about her sleeping with Viraj, and objectifying her. And still he plays a sad score on Anand. It's Vaishnavi who's going through such toxic shit all the while.

@@bobmarty3217one thing i don’t get is ,when you clearly know that all 3 were around 17-18 basically engg 1st yr when this story takes place, how the heck would you expect a noob like anand to act wise beyond his age. He’s obviously flawed, toxic, hot headed and very much immature. The director never tried to portray him as this ideal guy who’s very sincere about love and always does the right thing. The fact that he showed him as someone who hates his own mother for her disability shows the director’s conviction.Stop being so toxic and coming out on social media platforms trying to manipulate people into accepting your individual perspective and take on things.People are smart enough to gauge a director’s intention through his story telling. If he really wanted to potray vaishanvi’s character so poorly people wouldn’t have made this such a huge blockbuster. What’s really unfathomable is Vaishnavi thinking sleeping with someone would help solve her problems for good.So how is she not a toxic narcissistic being like anand or viraj. All 3 characters were extremely flawed and that’s the beauty of this story. So stop this negativity and let people enjoy this cult blockbuster!!

Rajesh did a fantastic job. He created one of the most humanistic movies of this Decade. You can single handedly explain various sociological and psychological concepts through his characters in movies.
Some time back I was reading about this opinion study which goes like this:
"Men and women from 12 ethnic groups in american universities were asked this question: 'Will you marry someone who has all the characters that you want in your partner, but you DON'T love them', It so happens that 33%(1 out of 3) of MEN said NO and 66%(2 out of 3) WOMEN said YES"
I came to some realisation after reading the study, and concluded this: “MEN LOVE WOMEN, BUT WOMEN DON’T LOVE MEN, BUT THEY ONLY LET MEN LOVE THEM”
It so happens that Vaishnavi's character is very much consistent with the above realisation.( And also it was inspired with real incident so that might be the case).
On the characterisation of Sita, I think she did have a personality of her own, but wasn’t expressed as it was not required for the plot. Only her negative aspects were highlighted. And whatever was expressed of Sita was very valid. To reason it I would quote 'Evolutionary Psychology by David Buss'. In the chapter on female aggression, he states a fact that in ancient times during tribal societies, if women felt that their mating opportunities were hampered because of some particular “new” female, then all the “average” women would collectively isolate, threaten or even kill that “new” women. And Sita did just that in the story.
I want to say so many more things about Vaishnavi’s Father, Anand, Viraj and other characters too…but let’s just leave it here.
Btw, Interviewer was very superficial, the last suggestion by him was absolute trash…Rajesh did what he could and he did it well…Want to see more movies coming from him.

Excellent interview. I understand the dissatisfaction of the director, the movie is collecting money for all the wrong reasons. Some men are watching this film with such a prejudice that they aren’t even observing Anand was an asshole. They just want to make it black and white and blame Vaishnavi for everything. Hence the extreme and disgusting reactions.
But also, I don’t buy the whitewashing of Vaishnavi’s character in this interview. She knew what she was doing, and if her actions can be defended citing she was immature and had come from a small village, then so did Anand. The way she treats anand and cheats on him is not justified no matter what spin you put on it. She was as flawed as Anand. Viraj was kinda downright evil.

    • @abeljohn9235
      @abeljohn9235 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Bro I saw so many comments, finally I saw one comment that nailed it. If Vaishnavi's flaws such as loving popularity, money, expensive gifts and all that are justified because of the way her mother brought her up, then Anand's flaws or toxic boyfriend and his verbal abuse are also justifiable due to his local upbringing as well as his teenage immaturity. Anand was shown as very loving and understanding and kept himself in control, and when he was trying to talk to her about how he was publicly slapped and humiliated for not having money, and instead she's so excited about her new phone that she doesn't even care about him. It doesn't stop there, she starts taunting his low financial status, and waving around her new iPhone, and throwing his gift of the phone back in his face. Not only that, she even knew he gave up his livelihood rikshaw to get her that phone, so how can she be so heartless, or stupid, or both?
We are supposed to feel sorry for Vaishnavi? And angry at Anand? Like what in the world? In his immaturity and justifiable anger after being taunted by her regarding his financial status, that he verbally abused her? And that is supposed to justify her getting drunk, lying to Anand that she loves him, and immediately kissing the other dude? And then to cover up for the video of that kiss, she entertains the other dude for 30 days, cheating again. And then SLEEPS WITH the other dude, more cheating again, and the worst part is, that she sleeps with him by using her boyfriend and his rikshaw that he doesn't own anymore BECAUSE OF HER, to transport her to Viraj's house. So she lied a hundred times to him, manipulated him, used him and cheated on him. And we're supposed to be angry at Anand because of words he said in anger and humiliation of being taunted about being poor and not as good as rich people? He broke because from his perspective, here is a girl who he loved sincerely, from 10th class, who didn't even let him side hug her and he respected her for that, put her on a pedestal, and here he is sleeping with some dude she doesn't even love. Because she is so stupid that she thinks that will solve her problems rather than just talking to Anand

Everyone has their own justification for the things they do, although it might seem incorrect to others. Women are mistreated, harassed, humiliated, abused day in day out and no one blinks an eye, it's mostly because of the way we are and our culture. And everytime a movie like this comes where women character is showed with her flaws, we get agitated about it. Hypocrisy..

As a viewer, I always felt the movie was being narrated from anand's perspective. The director might have had a well rounded etched out idea, but he seems to have executed and edited the movie by giving a lot of importance to the scenes that would make it a commercial success.
The second half was all about trying to make the audience empathise with anand. May be, it would have helped him to have a bound script, have multiple readings to check for consistency in character arcs and whether he was potraying what he wanted.

You even redeemed Anand in that Cinema theatre scene where Vaishnavi comes to kiss him.

I just realised i was living around insensitive people while watching it in theater ... The cuss words for the herione character ... Not a single viewer understood the herione side version which director established, easily side thrown all heroine feelings and was connecting with hero's agony ...
This movie is a case study in understanding people's behavior , how they react to each scene , hatsoff for sai rajesh , proud that this film is made by telugu director in telugu languge , but very sorry for teligu audience for their immature illogical intolerant behavior ,... Those haunting shouts in theater supporting hero and scolding heroine made me leave this country and go to matured country ... Dot

I feel very bad for people who conceived heroine as a bad person. Infact she was the most positive person among the three. She did what she could to solve her problems by herself . She had one honest friend who advised her to reveal about Anand to viraj, but she didn't listen?!! Why couldn't she tell that she has bf?? She is greedy & got attracted to fancy world which caused her all these problems.. she herself is responsible for that as she invited wrong people in her life & made wrong choices & hide things from both anand & viraj..she was neither honest to anand nor viraj..anand's mistake is loving her more than his mother whom he never cared for when she was alive

Coming to anand, he was going through hell lot of things because of the mobile he gifted her & she simply compares it with iPhone & calls it dabba phone..when he tries to explain her the problem, she simply says endhuku moham ala pettukuntav...out of frustration, he calls her L, which is wrong & he feels sorry for that & he promises her he will never restrict her from anything in future & he keeps his promise..she calls him & scolds him back, but then she sends anand love message as reply & kisses viraj immediately...sleeping with viraj on sita's advice is another blunder, instead she can follow kusuma's advice & tell him that she has bf..if her love is pure, why can't she reveal it? Why cheating both the boys? She is attention-seeker & scared that she won't get gifts if she reveals..when things went out of control, she wants to return them back...Anand's mistake is not caring his mother when she was alive & giving importance to an undeserving person...viraj's fault is his stubbornness & not accepting a girl's rejection..if he knew that she has bf, he would not have taken her seriously..

This interview seems more absurd than the movie. The overwhelming success and celebration of this film is indicative of the mentality of our audiences. Throughout the interview, Sai Rajesh appears more focused on justifying his thoughts rather than providing answers to the questions. It is evident that the makers were well aware of the impact their work would have and took deliberate measures to elicit certain audience reactions. Sai Rajesh, despite attempting to portray himself as an amateur, is actually an experienced filmmaker who had a clear understanding of when and how the audience would react, orchestrating scenes to evoke sympathy for the character Anand. This is a prime example of directors forcefully incorporating their own fantasies and personal vendettas into their stories.

The reason why many enjoyed when Anand scolds Vyshnavi and not vice versa is bcoz in real life girls tend to maintain multiple relationships in parallel by giving little favours.
