So like do you actually need the blue wire? I’m actually sitting here right now trying to swap the insides of this thing and I don’t see how you did it. If I don’t use XM will my regular radio still work without this blue wire. A quick response needed please. Going to finish the gloss black roof wrap before putting this back in and just worried I’ll have to take it back out just because it doesn’t end up working without the wire.
Hell I ended up having trouble with the roof wrap and just been running the shark fin with the one connection. I did only drive for about an hour total but it seems to work with no errors. I don’t plan to ever use the XM and I most times I even just play through my phone
@@bloodborne5546 lol, I'm in the same position, the sharkfin only has 1 connector and I tried 'swapping the internals' and there's no shot. I would just leave it with 1 connection, but the male insert has 2 plastic notches that doesn't quite match..
A few weeks ago there was some overnight fog and my headliner got soaked/stained. I took it into the dealership and they determined it was the antenna and quoted me $2400 for a new antenna.... I said screw that and just sealed it with some silicone but I think I'ma do this shark fin mod! Will any Ford edge antenna work from a junkyard or are there some on eBay that would work as well? Ideally I'd love a color matched antenna (magnetic metallic) but all the ones I've seen online are either black or white so I guess I'd have to look for a magnetic metallic ford edge?
That’s insane! Definitely not worth that much effort or money. I believe some eBay ones would work as well as long as the plugs are the same or if you choose to just re-use your factory plugs if they still work. And yeah, just being that they’re used parts it’s more of a specific search but you could also get touch-up spray paint if you’re having a harder time finding it
FYI - I ended up buying a new antenna from Visual Garage - it is painted my Fusion’s factory paint color. Only problem is I only get one clear radio station. Other than that it does a fine job of sealing the broken housing, preventing leaks into my headliner and looks nice on the car.

That extra plug is the XM radio plug. I really like that antenna though, might actually do the thing soon.

@@bloodborne5546 Yes, you do. You'll get a constant error if you don't hook in the XM antenna.

Probably your phone. On mine and two other ones I've been in the signal is quite strong and works for a little farther than the car.
I heard it affects Sirius xm and the connection. Have you noticed anything?
I don’t have a Sirius XM account so I’m not sure, sorry man
I can tell you from just the am/fm I haven’t noticed a difference at least

You can definitely do a lot with some spray paint, vinyl or even just some LEDS here and there 👍🏼
