    ENGLISH TRANSCRIPT:
In Brazil there's no better way to say happy birthday than with one or two or three hundreds brigadeiros. And there's no better place to get them than this Brazilian brigadeiro bakery from this lovely pastry chef.
My name is Mariana Vieira and I'm a pastry chef at Brigadeiro Bakery New York.
Brazilians are already known for this happy personality, so party for us is in our DNA, we can throw a party every day.
Brigadeiros are a huge part in every Brazilian birthday party. They became very popular specially in kids birthday parties because they are very simple and everyone can make them. We always say if there's no brigadeiro there's no birthday party.
Brazil's number 1 birthday bonbon was invented in the 40's and is the same sake of brigadier general Eduardo Gomes. Gomes was a handsome popular army general who ran for president after World War II. And while the people didn't vote him in, the brigadeiro won the countries hearts in a landslide and it's being Brazil's national birthday sweet ever since.
Brigadeiros recipe is pretty simple. You cook sweet condensed milk, butter and egg yolks and your flavor recipe, which can be Jell-O for the pink one or other flavors like chocolate or coconut, in a pan over medium heat from 10 to 15 minutes until you reach the right consistency. I always say it's something between a fudge and a truffle.
And after you let it cool down for a few hours, you butter your hands, make little balls, put out in the sprinkles, put them in the little candy cups and they are good to go.
When you arrive at a birthday party one of the first things you do, you go check the sweets table to see how fancy, how diverse it is. Brigadeiro is just a big thing at those parties, if it's not there there's something wrong with the birthday party. Brigadeiros are the one everyone counts on.
Balloons, cakes, presents, who needs them? As long the brigadeiros are here, it's a party.
