This would be the reason why I spent thousands of dollars paying someone else to install my stereos. This is pretty complicated and takes an incredible amount of precision, patience and attention to detail.
@@primalconcretesledge3137 I taught myself how to build enclosures and install audio in a year, I’m still learning. My only motivation was lack of funds to pay someone else
I wish you lived close to me ! I would so have you install a system in my car ! You do all your work the right way no short cuts and that's the best thing to me . I would do my own but I have a bad left shoulder and the last system I installed was in a Suburban and it about kill me to install it . It came out clean like your work but I was in pain for two weeks after that build . I love your builds because that's how I would do mine ! 100%
top notch install!! the only thing I would like to add is that most vehicles come with a appropriate size ground cable to handle the needs of the vehicle . with that said if your going to have an additional load on the positive side , you should upgrade the negative lead or rather add an additional ground lead the same gauge as your power lead to the amps but from the negative battery post to the to the factory grounding point. doing this helps the amps run slightly cooler and helps with light Flickering with bass .. thats my two cents for what its worth...
not to be a "grammar nazi" I fail at times as well... the difference between "run" and "ran" is driving me insane! Keep up the great videos and informative content!
Hey Mark, I love your videos and they have inspired, and helped, me to build things I never thought I would be able to build. I have watched your videos on DSP's and am still a little confused about them. I would love to see a video that goes in depth on all the features and how to properly install one. And possibly a few different ways of installing one because it sounds like there is numerous different was of using these things.
This build will be super useful for me if I ever feel like adding additional amplification to my car, as the stock amplifier is tied into much more of the system functions than it should reasonably be, so the easiest thing is to just feed it all into a DSP to secure clean, flat output equalization before it gets fed into secondary amplification where necessary.

Nice job man, I have been pre-running the wires and do a small tape marker to mark the areas it will split off the harness, then wrap it outside of the car/truck easier on my back.. Keep up the good work.
haha still using the system analyser I used 15 yrs ago. I thought it was old school then. cool seeing audio control still kicking. I still have a epic150 from its debut. it was a nice little add then
Video was great, but would have liked to have seen more detail on what fuses you used, how you hooked up the dsp and what size fuse used on dsp. I am working on a 2019 Indian chieftain. Much different and it many videos out there. Any chance you can do an install on a 2019 or newer Indian would be appreciated. Thanks for all these videos
What did you use to make your ground connection? One frame the ground to body is not there and then all of a sudden it is. I have a jeep and would like to use the same method
Thanks for the video, awesome. I plan to install an active crossover, with one 2CH Amp for tweeters and a 5CH Amp for the door speakers and the Sub. I just need to understand how to go about the fuses and power distribution. (I have the amps but I am yet to buy the cross over). 1. What AWG power and ground cables would you recommend? Both from the battery and at the equipment? 2. I noticed that you used 1 input/2 output distribution blocks for power and ground, please clarify exactly how you powered the DSP from the same power block and how it was grounded too.
I'm curios why you didn't cut the speaker wires from the back of the head unit and only tapped into them? is it because you ran new speaker wires to all the speakers?
Would love for my challenger and future ram rebel for you to do all the audio by you. Amazing work amazing detail paying attention to detail is key. Keep up the amazing job.
I understood the re-wiring of the speakers but where I got lost was the 9 wire cable. To what harness or exactly do you attach the 9 wire cable behind the radio to get the DSP?
I'm installing a mono D class and a 4 channel AB amplifier in my jeep renegade using the factory radio. I can't afford a DSP or a LOC so I wanted to use my high line inputs. Q. Can I hookup both amps using the same speaker wires from the head unit?
Thanks for this! I'm about to tackle doing this in my new car and this gave me some new ideas. I didn't know about the wire ferrules or the external Tesa tape for under the hood! I'm looking forward to that video on the quick-disconnects, because I want to do that as well.
Does the GTO make a popping noise when the radio is turned on and off and will this harm anything, Do you recommend using the GTO or using an accessory wire turn on the device? I have the Audiocontrol LCQ-1 but I am not using the GTO just using an accessory wire to turn on the unit, I read that it makes a popping noise when turned on and off, but I like the fact that it only turns on when the radio is turned on and not all the time when the ignition is in accessory mode. I have a 2015 Honda Accord LX sedan factory radio that had 4 speakers no external amp.
Would you mind showing a few things. Can you show how you mounted the bottom of the amp rack to the jeep. I have a jeep and plan on doing this. Also can you show how you mourned the crossovers and your ground point. Thanks for all of your videos.
The point is on how to wire dsp, then where is? too much explanations but useless i did not understand...what if get dsp, batery, amplifier, speakers, wire and explain it in a white table on how to wire them that is a clear and helpful video.
i see at 9:00 that the incoming power cable is twice as thick as the outcoming power cable from the fuse block. Is that because you have to deliver twice as much power (Watt) to let the 2 amplifiers work, or does it have another reason for it?
What in-line fuse did you use for powering the DSP (the orange circle)? I just ran a wire from my amp power input block (with an in-line fuse) to my dsp, but I like the idea of using the distribution block to run it to the DSP. I just can’t seem to find one that can go from a higher gauge wire down to the smaller gauge power for the DSP.

I was wondering where would be a good place to get some good wire ferrules that keep the conductivity of OFC wire consistent. I don't want to use aluminium that will degrade the conductivity.
No I haven't talk to Steve Meade about my set up, but I did speak to car audio fabricators and they told me I would be fine just by using the six channel audio control DQDX digital sound processor that I plan on using for all the 4 amps!!! Two for the sub's and two for the mids and highs since they have pre amp inputs and ouputs I can daisy chain them together and I would be fine!!!✌✌✌
@ekim andersom It is defaulted to give a 5 volt output. You have to change the jumpers to get the 10 volt output. AudioControl is kind of lacking on the information they provide in the instruction manual. They don't even mention any of the jumpers in that manual.

I did a similar install in my 2015 Buick Regal, meaning two amps an active LOC using the factory head unit, which currently isn't replaceable. I did however install two 15s and my bass drops off drastically at around 28 hz. It's not the enclosure because the subs stop moving even out of the enclosure. My question is, does my factory unit have a higher frequency range to prevent damage to factory speakers?
you didn't mention this- do i need to fuse the amps separately after the distribution block??? I'm thinking of running a mono block for the subs along with my 4 channel for dash and rear side speakers. the whole setup is kicker D-series. You should do a video on fuses and fuse locations in power wires from single to multiple amps :)
Do you run your sub through the dsp or just the speakers? (Just wondering because you only have 2 rca leads plugged in on the video) any chance you can show us the wiring now it is complete? So we can see? I assume it has the speed wire and rcas from the head unit going to the dsp and then the rca’s from the dsp to the 4 Chanel and mono block?

Why not run power wire on the same side as battery? I get don't run on same side as rcas but seems costly not to just switch side, plus It would keep less wire out of engine bay.
That is what I do. I think the important thing was to make sure you don't run the power line on the same side as the RCAs. Years ago, I found out why running them on the same side is NOT a good idea.
I'm actually confused at 7:39, so there are two signals going out from the factory Head Unit?, one to the DSP, and the other to the speakers?, or you wire them directly from the amp to the speakers with new connection and just leave the factory speaker wire disconnected?
Thank you for your channel - it very informative and professional. I'm in the process of restoring a 1989 Ford E150 Custom Conversion Van. Do you have any suggestions or tips since I have a clean slate to work with?
I have a radio connected to pre amp Pre amp to capacitor then 1 1200 watt 4 channel amp to 4speakers for highs and 4speakers for mids, 1 2500 watt 1 channel mono amp to 1 -15. Inch sub and 1 1 channel 2500 watt mono amp to 2 -12 inch subs. I just received a dsp 408 and a epicenter digital bass restoration, concert series. I have never wired a dsp or a digital bass restoration. So my question is down path of rca .where should I hook up epicenter and dsp, do I hook one or both before the preamp or after the pre amp or do I even need a pre amp anymore
Every vehicle has a different wiring color code so you will have to look it up. The 9 conductor includes the colors that are considered standard for speaker wires. White, grey, green and violet. More about that stuff here: th-cam.com/video/A7EbjAwjFGU/w-d-xo.html

caraudiofabrication, Hey Mark. Do they sell smaller rolls of the tesa mounting tape, the one used to secure harness to the body?? Thanks.
unplugging battery is for beginners
I never unplug battery . Cause I know to avoid touching the hot terminals .
In a 2015 Dodge Charger SE, is there any speaker wires that have a full range frequency? I really need to know so I can hook up my DQ-61.
I'm actually confused at 7:39, so there are two signals going out from the factory Head Unit?, one to the DSP, and the other to the speakers?, or you wire them directly from the amp to the speakers with new connection and just leave the factory speaker wire disconnected?
I think he probably just disconnected the factory speakers then ran new speaker wire from the amps in the back.
how many low pass filters should i use for my subs
Thank you for your channel - it very informative and professional. I'm in the process of restoring a 1989 Ford E150 Custom Conversion Van. I've watched many of your videos that discuss topics from panels to proper sound-deadening. I'm planning a complete build with audio, video, security system - all the bells and whistles. Do you have any suggestions or tips since I have a clean slate to work with?
The special portal for the wiring is where the pump of the clutch goes
I have a radio connected to pre amp
Pre amp to capacitor then 1 1200 watt 4 channel amp to 4speakers for highs and 4speakers for mids, 1 2500 watt 1 channel mono amp to 1 -15. Inch sub and 1 1 channel 2500 watt mono amp to 2 -12
inch subs.
Do you use OFC or CCA wires? What is better, 4awg OFC or 1/0 CCA
Im running stock headunit but aftermarket speakers and amp. Do i need something like an lc7i or can i just use a DSP unit?
How much power is lost through passive crossover based on your experience? I am learning a lot from your videos. Thank you.
How did you connect your ground buddy?
Your work looks awesome
that wire with the 9 wires in it does it hook up color to color or do you have to know what wires run to what
Every vehicle has a different wiring color code so you will have to look it up. The 9 conductor includes the colors that are considered standard for speaker wires. White, grey, green and violet. More about that stuff here: th-cam.com/video/A7EbjAwjFGU/w-d-xo.html
CarAudioFabrication... have you ever made a "blow through" box for a single cab truck? where the box is in the truck bed and the port leads into the cabin..

How do u connect the RCA from the head unit to your DSP that will run the 2 amps? Eg. Mono block + 4 channel amp with 2 split systems that have they're own crossovers?
I'm curious
Thinking of purchasing an Audio control dm 810 or Rockford fosgate 363. Can you run those with stock system and do you run from factory head unit or factory amp?
Hello mark, watching all your videos and loving them but I have one question from all the videos I’ve watched as I want to do component speakers possibly on my truck. How do you get wires through the door boots of different cars? Do you ever use the stock wires and solder the new amped wires to the stock wires running through the door boots to the speakers? Thanks
