You need a wood pusher, and NEVER NEVER NEVER push on the outside of the wood/foam (outside = side away from blade and guide) pushing is only ok between the solid guide and blade...this is why you want a wood pusher that keeps your hands away from the blade. New foam would have come with reflextix on it helping the insulation value.
Just giving Dr. Leah a virtual high five as a fellow online college prof. I teach English, basic literature and composition and went from the classroom to teaching online when we moved to a small town for my husband's job. So grateful for the option to teach (and learn --my husband's getting his M.Div) online.
A word of warning that I’m sure you don’t need with your cool family: Saying “why am I here if you’re going to do all the work” while completely valid can piss people off. I heard you say that & immediately flashed back to When I was a kid I was lucky enough to get private lessons in art. My teacher had a habit of showing me how to do it a bit too much so I was feeling like it wasn’t my art. One day I said, “can I try now” & (I don’t remember but apparently) something g close to what you said to your dad. I was immediately dropped as a student & never had lessons again. So while I’m sure you’re fine, people can get caught up in projects like this & if they get told off for “helping” it can set them off. So make sure you love him & are grateful for & want his help - especially in semi dangerous situations.
Yeah I think there's a "heat of the moment" thing going on there for sure but we are good about realizing that and not letting things be taken too seriously. Thanks for the comment friend 👍🏻
I love the sass from dad lol the trailer is coming along so nicely - can't wait to see it all done! Frankie's face in the wind was priceless 😂hubby and I went on a walk yesterday and it started to rain - our son was passed out and didn't even flinch in his front carrier, ha.
Once you're in the full renovated trailer is going to be son rewarding. You are doing such a great job (even if you're messing things up) and learning a ton. Your dad is so cute and protective in his own though way.
Some suggestions: I'll recommend using led lights in the trailer. Try to use a 12v refrigerator. Think about making space between solar panels and the roof. Look for a 12v air conditioner. A bit more expensive but worth it; 2 320 amp batteries. Would Bluetooth headphones work better in the wind.
You probably wont see this! But so happy to see how far you've come, and so happy to see the new addition! Been a while since we hung out on a beach in Cambodia! All my love guys xx
As that baby starts into age appropriate toys and activities - please remember that he is taking in all sorts of experiences, observations, and activities many middle class, day care kids dont. It is quite possible that Frankie might explore physics and building type concepts as he starts to put what he's watched into practice. Keep your eyes open for it and expand on his exploration as he learns actual age appropriate tasks while utilizing observed concepts generally beyond age then expand upon it.
Hope that’s not too much ruckus for the little one. This morning some crew of guys in a big vacuum truck were cleaning out the drains on the boulevard and it woke everyone up (not just the noise of the thing, but the crew screaming at each other the whole time!)
Levi. i had a table saw kick back wood at me in high school. this was 16 years ago. i am still terrified of the things xD I hope the construction goes well and things resume normalcy sooon.
great history guys!! seeing what you're actually going through is eye opening especially with Frankie, but adaptation is part of having a baby!😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ live you guys and bless the whole family❤❤❤❤
Congrats! The trailer is now built better than the factory originally made it ( so far, but the foundation or base is a truly integral piece). Loving this build and how your parents are so happy to be involved -- I'm really kinda jealous, actually... Wow that sure IS chaos at Leah's parents -- so, I shouldn't complain about the traffic noise at my place so much, I guess. And Hey! --- Lou is really *cute*! Don't suppose she's single? Cheers!...from North Vancouver
3:00 that's called kickback... table saws are famous for that.. happened to me.. with wood.. right in the gut... owchhhh. gotta keep that super straight...
I'm so interested to see you guys travel with Frankie in the trailer one day! My girl turned 1 a couple weeks ago and we are currently camping in a tent in a campground with her and wow it's so different than camping on our own 😂
okay....Long before I ran a channel about kayaking, I worked in the film industry. And a pet peeve of mine from decades of working on film sets (and its a safety issue) that I see TH-camrs do ALL THE TIME - I swear I am going to a video about even though none of my subscribers will care. - When a light (or anything) goes on a C stand. It gets a sandbag on the base. And you really should have the big leg, under the soft box. The light and soft box combination you have is pretty low weight but it is still a good practice. okay. I need a whiskey now.
You all have spent at least a couple of years being minimalist, zero and low waste, eco-friendly, and all the rest. I have maintained for YEARS that simply being frugal goes a long, long way towards low(er) waste and eco-friendly.
Levi ... your dad is SO good, he knew the "near-death experience" really threw you and he let you vent a bit, then he took you through the procedures without being upset (because I'm sure it scared HIM, too!) without making it look like he was teaching an idiot. Your mom is great too --- all I can say is that with the relationship you have with your parents as an adult, you had an outstanding, loving upbringing that set you up for a great, conscious and responsible life. I think you guys did an outstanding job with your "crazy quilt" insulation project ... and, "Future Proof Levi" would be proud of you too --- styrofoam is a HUGE polluter in our world and you made sure you didn't put a bunch of it in the atmosphere ---- it may have taken more work, but was really worth it in "save the planet" terms.
So after 15 -quite entertaining - episodes and 7 months, the project was given to parents, who seems to be doers rather than talkers 🤷🏻♂ I am doing a similar project now and I hoped to get some hints, but this didn't happen 🤷🏻♂
I mean I love your content and have been following for a long time but please be careful with Frankie's identity! He's the cutest baby ever but he deserves his privacy, even as you're not talking about him there are nasty people online and who knows how he will feel in ten, or twenty years about +100k subscribers seeing him as a baby. Some better creators talk about this in depth, so please do your research!
Just a technical issue you might want to be aware of…… even though i am a subscriber….i never got noticed you dropped a new video….. its not showing up on my suscribed list….. it just showed up four days later as a suggestion ……not sure if youtube has you suppressed ???
Do you and your dad have boundaries set in place for moments when you guys don’t agree on a certain aspect of the build… but also knowing that he’s volunteering his time and skill so you don’t want to risk pissing him off lol
Frankie is going to be the chillest kid ever between dealing with construction noise & an already strong love of nature!
Levi, my dad is a carpenter and I have had the exact same conversation on every project - "Yes dad, I know you can do it, but then why am I here?".
You need a wood pusher, and NEVER NEVER NEVER push on the outside of the wood/foam (outside = side away from blade and guide) pushing is only ok between the solid guide and blade...this is why you want a wood pusher that keeps your hands away from the blade.

We’re sooooo lucky to be able to work from home! (Even if home is a construction zone 😳)
Frankie is an outdoor enthusiast from birth, awesome! For real that WTF look from him in the wind was hilarious.

And that kick back was from a lack control and power tools are not a game.
Yeah I think there's a "heat of the moment" thing going on there for sure but we are good about realizing that and not letting things be taken too seriously. Thanks for the comment friend 👍🏻
Things happen and no one gets a bandaid.

Haha yeah Frankie's just happy as long as were outside honestly 😅
The eye-look from Frankie at 13:26 was just absolutely perfect.
A newborn baby needs hearing protection when exposed to loud noises from construction workers!
Once you're in the full renovated trailer is going to be son rewarding. You are doing such a great job (even if you're messing things up) and learning a ton. Your dad is so cute and protective in his own though way.
It's so nice to see how your parents are engaged to the project. ❤️
They’re super engaged! Haha
Your dad is a goddamn artist, Levi.
He quite literally is! 😳🤩 at this point the trailer is going in a gallery not on the road!
Would love to hear more about how Leah makes audio and everything good for teaching!
Some suggestions: I'll recommend using led lights in the trailer.

Think about making space between solar panels and the roof.
Look for a 12v air conditioner.
A bit more expensive but worth it; 2 320 amp batteries.
Would Bluetooth headphones work better in the wind.
Should skip the plywood, lay clear plexiglass flooring, and then just have area rugs so that you can showcase your mosaic
Such endurance through all those challenges!! Keep it up! and Frankie is looking so cute!! 👍 Cant wait to see the rest of the trailer build 👍
You probably wont see this! But so happy to see how far you've come, and so happy to see the new addition! Been a while since we hung out on a beach in Cambodia! All my love guys xx
I loved that you included the moment with your dad after the scare. Great reminder of the point behind this project. Keep it up!
Thanks... It's always a decision that we need to make but I felt like it was important. 🥰
Holy jack hammers and windstorm, Batman. Good work on the trailer floor - great to see Guy and Jean in there, patient as usual.
Great work on the trailer floor! Loved getting to see Frankie, he is just adorable.
15:09 Frankie’s expression lol
😂😂😂😂
Omg Frankie is so adorable he looks just like Leah

Right now, Frankie looks just like Leah. Healthy looking and adorable!
Hope that’s not too much ruckus for the little one. This morning some crew of guys in a big vacuum truck were cleaning out the drains on the boulevard and it woke everyone up (not just the noise of the thing, but the crew screaming at each other the whole time!)
Honestly Frankie is the least bothered by it haha, it's everyone else who needs to work and live normally 😂
@@LeahandLevi he looked to fascinated by everything. 😂
Dad, Invest in a Saw Stop table saw, comes with a riving knife. Its a fantastic machine.
Love the Bigfoot content.
Thanks for being here 👍🏻
Levi. i had a table saw kick back wood at me in high school. this was 16 years ago. i am still terrified of the things xD I hope the construction goes well and things resume normalcy sooon.

We’re so lucky to have our family to support us too!
Congrats!

We're in a pretty wild time atm but we're makin the most of it!
You guys are awesome and Frankie is so adorable!!! Leah, where did you get the huge scrunchie you were wearing in the laundry room? I love it!!
Not that person that gushes over babies...... (But) omg.... The little facial expressions❤❤😂👍😁🥰totes adorbs

Hahaha yeah we have had a couple different moments like that where we look at each other like "we're going to go on so many adventures with him!"
Great work on the trailer. Frankie is so cute!
Omg Frankie is soo dam cute! So expressive now ❤

Levi, you have to watch closely and learn. You can't just do without learning techniques first.

Thanks for this lovely message! We're really making it work one day at a time!
So after 15 -quite entertaining - episodes and 7 months, the project was given to parents, who seems to be doers rather than talkers 🤷🏻♂ I am doing a similar project now and I hoped to get some hints, but this didn't happen 🤷🏻♂
And the charger’s box is a mobile crib.
Aww I felt a bit sorry for your dad
Good way to get us to watch the ad spot… have Frankie in it! 😆
😜😅
Mom's are the best for perfection!!! But your mama tight!
Can I know what brand of the one-piece Frankie is wearing. It looks so cute🥰 I wanna buy one for my son

I love Piper's Lagoon even in bad weather.
Us too 🥰

Frankie is SO big already 🥰
I know! 🥹🥰
Is there mold in that styrofoam? 😢
Noti gang 🫡🙏🏿💜
YIKES 😳 Yall be careful 🙄🙏✝️✌️🥴
Thanks for being here my friend 🥹🥰
Anyone see the leg 🦵 hanging up? 😳
Haha yeah that leg's got some stories 😆
such a drag that Frankie is too young to appreciate the construction. Another couple of years and he would be so excited by it all.
I know! I tried to show him the equipment and he just stared off without any comprehension haha
Do you and your dad have boundaries set in place for moments when you guys don’t agree on a certain aspect of the build… but also knowing that he’s volunteering his time and skill so you don’t want to risk pissing him off lol
What course(s) does Leah teach?
She’s teaching Health 352: Promoting Healthy Sexuality at UVIC and she has a few others that she teaches at other times of the year too 🥰
Good luck for of this chaos … 🤪
Just get a lambo bro yolo!
Jk.
Wow…. You cuss at your parents like that? 🤦🏻♂️
