Intermodal is an option Ive been thinking about if I want to spend more time at home. Depends on the rail hub. The Los Angeles market is pick up heavy, especially later in the week. But...most days we start at the rail, grab a load to deliver to customer. Then we’ll get a pickup coming back to the rail. Most days we’ll then do 1 or 2 more pickups. Sometimes we’ll get another delivery followed by pickup. We’re also doing a lot of multi-stop pickups that get delivered to Walmart DC. So, today for example, I’m doing a delivery that I grabbed at the rail, followed by a 2 stop pickup going Walmart. I’m not on the intermodal side anymore. When I was, I grossed between $1400-$1600/wk.
Do they take people fresh out of driving school?
They have a 6 week “apprenticeship” for new drivers. If you’re interested, hit me up on email with your name and contact info. I can put in a referral and a recruiter will call you.
@@thezentrucker thanks for the response. I am just trying to gather as much info I can. I have my driving exam in a few weeks so just weighing my options. Thanks!
@@KevinG1994 good deal. Good luck on the test. ✌️🤙
@@thezentrucker thank you!
Can one get a Sunday Monday off??
Most drivers are either M-F or weekend wrap (thurs-mon or fri-tues). But you could work out a special schedule if you need to. I know a guy that works tues-sat.
@@thezentrucker I appreciate you
Jb hunt is hiring with out experience?
They have been recently. It’s 6 weeks of training.
Is it true jb hunts trucks are all automatic tho?
Mostly autos here at South Gate. Still have a few older trucks that are manual. But the manuals are going the way of the dodo bird.
@@thezentrucker knew it was coming but didn't realize how common they were
@@stevenlindhorst7579 the mega carriers have gone all in for the most part b/c they get better gas mileage and easier to hire less experienced drivers. Personally, i prefer the autos…in LA traffic makes life a lot easier.
Is jb hunt truthful about their pay? I have a recruiter showing me accounts in my area which show Average 92k a year
In my experience, the recruiters are truthful about pay. They tend to share median pay for each account. Though, $92k sounds high. I made $80k last year. On pace for $85k this year.
@@thezentrucker ahh I see. Do you think they have it high because of where I am? My account is pa and loads around the northeast like NJ, and ny where cost of living is higher so I’m thinking maybe that’s the reason
@@BabyyJJ I’m not as familiar with dedicated as I am with intermodal. What I can tell you is the intermodal drivers in NJ are among the highest paid. Chicago is the highest, then NJ, then SoCal. I assume it’s combination of cost of living and how busy the market is.
I know you worked at Schneider before. Did you look into their intermodal before going to JB? If so why did you pick JB vs a transfer to SNI Intermodal? Reason I ask is they both run out of a rail yard near me and am considering going to intermodal. I currently do not work for either company.
Nope, didn’t realize Schneider had intermodal. I just went to JB cuz I knew they had the biggest footprint in intermodal of any company.
I work at intermodal jbhunt here & chicago.. drop in hook 35$ live load 65$ reefer live load 90$ good money here. Way do crosstown here too 14 place railyard
Good deal. Thanks for sharing! Happy Holidays!
Are you still with JB Hunt? I want to go the CDL school in LA and work for JB Hunt Intermodel in South Gate. I live in Orange County. Any recommendations of suggestions on a trucking school??? Thank you Sir..
I am. Still with JBH. Still doing intermodal and training new drivers. I can’t really help you with picking a cdl school. I got mine through Swift.
@@thezentrucker Ok. I went to JB Hunt employee reviews and there was a guy who gave a review saying JB Hunt hired him right out of CDL school with no experience and he’s doing intermodel in South Gate. I hope they will hire me with no experience. Im a Marine Veteran; hopefully that helps.
@@BW-kv9wj yeah, they do hire drivers right out of cdl school sometimes. Depends how aggressively they’re hiring, time of year, how busy things are, etc. they definitely value military experience, so that should help.
@@thezentrucker Thanks man. I’m working a security job in Beverly Hills and I net $2450 every 2 weeks. But there’s zero benefits and it’s boring and I don’t like it. Plus, I’m putting in 60-72 hours a week. It’s good money but I’d rather drive truck.
@@BW-kv9wj I Understand, brother. Get to a certain pt in life where it’s not about $$ anymore. It’s about quality of life. 👍✌️
Its 2022 company truck drivers now have leverage im making $37hr as a local company truck driver in Long Beach CA and home everyday I work 9hrs a day i can work more if I want too some truck drivers are just happy working for less i guess 👍 ✌
Perhaps, you should consider making some videos yourself and sharing your experience in a way that’s helpful to others. Might be a more productive way to invest your time that drive-by bragging and bashing…
I mean $37hr for 9 hours a day ain’t bad for the week
@@Goku_Kiyosaki lol…joe is fos, slurpee. in my experience, the dudes who brag about how big their pecker is, always turn out to have the tiniest…😂🤣😆
Average hourly rate in L.A area is 25 to 30 dollars an hour. Overtime after 8 hours. I think you are getting ripped off. I think you would make more money working local for a trucking company.
Thanks for the info, Julio. I’m pretty happy at JB Hunt. They treat me real good, they keep me busy, and the $$ is just fine. I made $80k last year. Btw, we get a lot of other benefits here like paid holidays, 3 weeks vacation, lots of bonuses throughout the year, no forced loads or forced hours, etc. I’m sure I could make a little more $$ elsewhere, but I value the quality of life over the $$.
Do u know of jb hunt hires someone w one ticket in the record that drops in 2 years 😭
Not sure. Probably depends what the ticket is for.
250 dollars a day is bad deal
I'm currently working for Jb Hunter intermodel and I'm quitting already I've been working already for 8 months and you don't make money in this company that's a lie for you to do four or five loads that's crazy bro I do three loads in about 13 hours bro and I'm getting a lot of traffic it's too much traffic right now in la everything is coming back to normal you don't even make $875.00 a week in Jb hunt it's no money in Jb hunt do not work
Sorry it’s not working out for you. If you’re working 13 hrs for $875/wk, you’re doing something wrong. Maybe try doing a ride along with someone and you can figure out how to be more productive. I grossed $1289.25 last week and I can assure you I wasn’t going 13 hrs/day. If you email me I will gladly send you a screen shot of the weekly summary from Drive app...and will then accept your apology for calling me liar. Lol!
That being said...if it’s not working for you, you should leave and find something that works better for you. No reason to direct anger/frustration at me. I’m just a dude sharing my personal experience...nothing more nothing less.
I wish you the best and hope you find something that better suits you. ✌️
@@thezentrucker Hey I'm looking to start Jb Hunt as local feed mill driver. Do you have any advice I have a tear of otr stop due to my dad passing been off a year thinking of going back hint jb hunt jib but I never ran feedmill. So if you have any advice please let me know. Thanks in advance.
@@PeaceMakerny1 sorry. Don’t know anything about feedmill. I’ve done dedicated regional and local intermodal.
I'm currently at JB Hunt in Atlanta, I'm a Regional Intermodal driver and you do make ok money. My first year I've made 70k, I'm home every night 90% of the time. All year I've worked only five days a week except for the pass two months (Nov. and Dec.), there was also a 2k or 3k sign on bonus.
Not a good deal
