Man, that engine really takes me back. My first car, purchased in early 1973 was a 1970 Mach 1 with this exact same engine. I was actually kinda embarrassed to say my car had this engine as every young Ford hot rodder wanted the 428CJ. If not that than a 351 Cleveland. The Windsor was considered a truck engine snd it had very little aftermarket hit rod parts support unlike today. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! And yes, I am am an old fart!
Love seeing the younger generations getting into cars and racing in general. I also love seeing girls/ women getting into it also. Especially when they are wanting to learn how to work on them and not afraid to get their hands dirty.
Molly. I’m following Billy and his dad’s channel and now yours. Looks like a terrific channel. Now I have 3 channels to support. Actually I have others but yours and Billy’s family channels are the first of the street racing channels. Little background I’m a retired military aircraft mechanic on high performance aircraft but have always enjoyed working on just about everything. Had a brand new 68 fastback mustang when I was in the military but when I came home from Vietnam it just couldn’t fit a wife and two daughters so the car of my dreams went bye bye. Anyway most cars after 71 were pure junk as are many today. My knew-neighborhood just moved in happens to be a vintage car collector so you never know what I might buy.anyway hope your channel does well stay healthy and safe in this crazy world and by the way my one daughter lives in Loveland Ohio and I’m on Long Island NY but this pandemic screws up everything. Best of luck and will follow your success Artie 😊🇺🇸🏁
Nice to see her involved in her race car. Most of the time you see young people just drive and don’t know anything about what they are driving. Rock on Molly
Harbor freight is the best for most of us people on a budget. Looking forward to seeing the 351 preform. Working like ya do in a shop your gonna spill stuff on yourself, still looked great 👍
Great to see you getting in the shop and getting some work done with some greasy ole engines! The snow is on the ground already, but before you know it racing season will be here again!
Thought it was a 69-70 block until I’d saw the main saddles. Then in the title of the video, lol. 69-70 was the best of the Windsor blocks but they were low deck 9.480 vrs 9.500. All 69-74 are pretty stout though. Mine makes 626hp n/a and only 393 cubic inches. With some spray that’ll be a hot rod.
Hey Molly! Enjoying the content as always. That car under the tarp at the start was beautiful! And a bit of V8 education is always interesting. 50 years ago here in the UK was mostly small sub 2-litre, 4 cylinder engines with maybe twin carbs! A 6 if you were lucky!
It makes a real nice 408” stroker engine that makes more than enough horsepower and torque for pretty much whatever you’d like to do with it. I had one of these engines in a ‘79’ Mercury Capri and it was a very fun car 😉
Jim B _28 A 351 WINDSOR is the only way to go in the 351 line it is the best 351 there is solely in my opinion I've seen the 351 WINDSOR perform in a RACE CAR & STREET CAR & they run like a STRIPPED APE & that includes they are better than the 351 CLEVLAND they are just very impressing to me ( THE 351 WINDSOR THAT IS)
Great video and progress on your engine Molly, thank you! P.S. I'd add an aluminum main girdle and windage tray too. The aluminum will help soak up unwanted harmonics. Gotta' keep those "bad vibes" down! Lol!
Would be a great spokeswomen for Harbor Freight. Nothing wrong with there stuff. Have used them for a long time. Keep putting the work in. Great video.
351 Windsor is a great choice im building a 351 w stroker 393 with twin 88 mm turbos with a holly sniper EFI it should ramp up to 1400 hp and will be fun . i enjoy watching your vids very cool to see a beautiful young lady that has big interests in building cars / gear head fer sure keep up the good work and be safe ps; get a cage in that car
Being a Jessi Combs fan, it hurt when she left us. Molly would be a great one to fill her shoes. I believe that Billy is a great person and good for this relationship. With their awesome family behind them they can do wonderful things. God Bless them all and protect them! ~Ricvis
A little tip guys. Purchase a large commercial cooking pan and attach it to the engine stands lower legs. It will catch all the oil, coolant, dirt, hardware, parts. It saves a lot of time on cleanup and avoids tracking antifreeze, oil, grease all over the garage, cars. If you have pets, children remove any antifreeze, fuel, oils, etc off the floor, low shelves, etc.
Gotta love these...You stroke it , add aluminum heads, mild cam and 4 barrel - she will make MONSTER power - EX> My 347 stroker (302 based) makes 450 at the crank....so imagine your 351 stroked to 393...
That is what you call oil antifreeze and rust looks like after year of setting and or submerged in the local lake,n, o thanks guys and merry Christmas 🎁 hope you had a nice thanksgiving too, we all will be hitting the gyms after the holidays, i know I can fit in my race seat ,so before next season we all we’ll need to get a lighter use of us to get it work, kool thanks BigAl.
Bruhhh.. by my Windsor. Flat top venolia pistons with good pins, ported iron Dart heads, super Victor, crane roller rockers, .625 solid roller i think its 254@.50 never been fired. It was rebuilt and assembled by Champion performance Joe soller who's a friend of mine. I think it's a 19 73 truck block
Just started watching 👀 your channel and I really like it looks like Molly can do it all..Your boots look like the boots I wear on my Motocross bike lol...Keep those videos coming 💪
The first vehicle I ever drove over 100mph in I think it was 85-88 can't remember I was 15 but a ford galaxy 500 it had the 351 Windsor but my dad always talked about the Cleveland it's odd to see a build on this but imma watch
the total coverage black coating is a product of the oil used . for example I rebuilt a Engine for shop class in the later 1970s . Full machine shop . Boiled block. New parts. After 3 to 6 months I decided to swap camshafts. The inside was covered just like that. What you didnt see was sludge. Switching to a synthetic will ease the black coating. more expensive by several times compared to regular oil but better in the long run. Oil leaks will make you cringe when you think about how much money just hit the ground but better. the build up in the water jackets is probably from additives used for stop leak. all kinds of wacky questionable stuff was available over the shelf at parts counters. some of it should never be anywhere near a coolant system
If you get a 375 stroke crank from eagle I’ve got a set of 6.3 rods with 2.100 rod journals here if y’all need um. They got 4.185 bore pistons that are to big for your stock block but the kit was a 408. Just letting ya know. Good luck💯 oh DO NOT LOOSE THE CAM RETAINING PLATE!!! Lol
You win dude , she wins couse you will be doing anything for her and she is a real woman beautiful 👩🦳too and wears MX boots 👢 nice kool and beautiful all rolled up into the big picture, thanks BigAl.
Hi, probably already know that hardly any parts will interchange between the 302 motor and your 351 Windsor except timing chain cover. Even the distributor will have to be replaced.Good Luck👍
Surprised you didn't use a later roller lifter 351W engine--they're cheap enough and avoid the annoyance of flat tappets wiping out the cam due to not enough zinc. The heads also cool off the exhaust ports better, even though you won't use them, they can sell better to get some money back. Pulleys are easier to pull when you cut the belts off and lose tension. As for unscrewing that power steering pump, do the bottom bolts first since the top will hold the weight so they won't be under tension if the top bolts get taken out first and fight you. I prefer hand tools since you can feel when a bolt is about to snap off in the block and try something different. Another source for affordable good tools, when you live in a population-dense area so you don't have to rely on mail order to do your car....flea markets, garage sales, and estate sales. Every Sunday morning I take an hour drive on backroads to an old mill building (can still smell the dust and age) where all the pickers sell machine-shop quality stuff for low prices (since everyone does EvilBay now). Their stuff isn't shiny, but it was built back when good quality metal was used (and weighs appropriately). That brand name stuff you buy now, its made down the road from where Wal Mart gets its in-house brand made. Jobs are less like work...when you have the right tool. Like hammering off that lower crank pulley, there's specific tools that would do that for you and not risk damaging the crank snout. Or when you need to prybar off a cylinder head and don't want it denting the concrete floor below your toes, loosen the head bolts but don't remove them--they'll keep it from sliding off the block's deck.
Man, that engine really takes me back. My first car, purchased in early 1973 was a 1970 Mach 1 with this exact same engine. Omg watching you taking the engine apart wasn’t enough the fact you had your Mx boots on doing it your partner is a lucky guy
Gotta love a girl who is not afraid to get dirty.
Especially one who walks around in your shop with sock feet!
She has gloves on
Dang Molly ! you pulled the crank out of that block like a BOSS ! I've seen bigger dudes then you struggle to pluck em out..
KILLER JOB CAN'T WAIT ......................... EVERYONE GO RACING
Cams just did my oldsmobile block. They are the only place I'll go to! Cant wait to see the finished product.
Molly is killing it in those motocross boots😊
All that work and wearing her ridding boots 👢 awesome 👌 👏 😎 👍
For a 50 year old engine, that thing is in surprisingly better shape than i expected. I do miss wrenching on cars. 👍

The rim/tire combo on that car is super badass. A 351 out of a 13-14 GT500 with a Whipple would be so cool in that car. Steve

Not really necessary on those blocks. The block would split down the middle before a main gave out...
Great content Molly, need more lol
