Germany has an extremely high density of palaces and castles, with an estimated 25,000+ such structures. When you compare this number to the number of palaces and castles in other countries, it becomes clear that Germany occupies a special position in this regard.
    *Comparison:*
    - Germany: Over 25,000 palaces and castles
    - Rest of the world: Estimated 30,000 to 40,000 palaces and castles
This means that Germany alone has about 40-45% of the world's known palaces and castles.
    *Reasons for this high density:*
    - Historical fragmentation: Germany was made up of many small principalities, duchies, counties and other dominions during the Middle Ages and early modern period. Each of these territories often had its own palaces and castles to demonstrate and defend power and influence.
    - Rich history: Germany's long and complex history, including numerous wars and political upheavals, led to the construction of many defensive structures and residences.
    - Preservation and restoration: Many of these historic structures have been carefully restored and preserved, which contributes to Germany having so many palaces and castles today.

Barbarossa. The one who led six campaigns against Italy and subjugated the country and the church five times. You are probably referring to the Battle of Legnano in 1176. The Battle of Legnano arose from a chance encounter on May 29, 1176 between a detachment of Lombard knights and the imperial vanguard. It developed an uncontrolled momentum of its own. The onslaught of the imperial army ended abruptly at the Milanese flag wagon, the capture of which was an important goal in the battle because of its symbolic significance for the freedom and honor of the city. Barbarossa managed to escape with difficulty and reached Pavia at the beginning of June. There he was supposedly already thought to be dead . And all this happened on the soil which would soon become the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. Holy Roman Empire, since the end of the 15th century also Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, was the official name from the late Middle Ages until 1806 for the territory ruled by the Roman-German emperors since the 10th century.

Every German emperor had to visit Italy, not just Barbarossa, because a medieval German emperor could only be crowned by the Pope in Rome. A German king, on the other hand, had to be crowned in Aachen (Aquae Granni) by the Archbishop of Mainz (Mogontiacum). Northern Italy has been an inherited part of the German Empire since the Franks (King Charlemagne) conquered the Lombard Kingdom.
Barbarossa had to wage war in northern Italy because the cities there wanted more independence from the central power, or in other words: they wanted to keep their money for themselves instead of paying taxes. They were supported by the Pope, who at that time was no longer content with being the spiritual leader of Christianity but tried, as a secular ruler, also to become the overlord of the emperor.

For decades, Barbarossa had a lot of stress with the northern Italian cities, which did not want to recognize the royal (iron crown of the Lombards) or the imperial supreme authority. The Pope in Rome was usually on the side of the cities. Sometimes the emperor was on top: he subjugated Milan, sometimes his opponents triumphed: e.g. in the Battle of Legnano. After that came a fragile peace. Barbarossa remained emperor for another 13 years. He drowned in the Saleph River in what is now Turkey on the way to the "Holy Land".

Hey guy, why are you imressed? Italia got a longer history ... okay ... Greece even longer ... Egyption even even longer ... We are neighbors [Austria interrupts, but they're only able to export dictators ... you got your own own ... 🙂] In general I don't like over-produced videos ... after many views ar displayed: this is the main reason, why I end with the following common speech in my area "woanders is' auch Scheiße!" [somewhere else is also shitty] ...
No, Germany is okay - but Italia also ... and Espana ... and Lituania [and so on and on and on].
Stefan, Dortmund ["Ruhr-Area" - quite close to The Netherlands ...]
