Well, they performed it and it has been heard. So, to say this song is not a success depends on your view what defines this often overused concept. For me it's one of a great example that success should not be measured only in terms of huge return sales. On the other hand it's of course a little bit frustrating that a great song like this didn't get the financial "attention" that it clearly deserves. But we can definitely enjoy the song nonetheless.
The Beato Effect, boys 'n girls!!! You want more of this, folks? SUPPORT THEM and other artists who actually write their songs, actually take the time and care to work them out and actually perform them. THAT is the message, the take away. Thanks, Beato, for your ongoing musical education mission.
Only just heard this song for the first time after Rick Beato posted about it on his TH-cam channel. Wow. Their singing is absolutely beautiful! What a tragedy that stuff like this gets drowned out by the generic hyper-produced, excessively auto-tuned dross that is churned out week after week... Please get Adele to do a cover of this with Greg Kurstin or one of his contemporaries producing it.
Bounce from Rick Beato video directly in here... loved the song. Rick is a rare lighthouse in the music world, and he just put you on the light for us.
Rick Beato, thank you. What I like especially is there's no reliance on common vocal tricks or premeditated ululations that singers constantly seem to think are required these days in a song. They just sing it from the heart, and every second of it is true, sincere, and beautiful. The fact that two singers from such different backgrounds sound completely in harmony is an antidote to all cynicism and mistrust. Brilliant.
Well said, Marc. Especially the 'vocal tricks' etc. Very boring and annoying affectations. Nothing original at all about that type of singing. I've always thought it's done to cover the fact that the singer really can't sing!
Incredible. Crosses practically all of the music genres: Gospel sound, Americana, and some back-of the-neck-hair-rasing soul. With a hint of rock. Can't stop listening, And yep, Beato steered me here, and I'm glad he did. You gals are awesome!
I guess that was the issue ,it didn't fit a particular genre but could be many and you would think that would be a benefit but not today ,it's all cookie cutter .an old song once said that in the lyrics ," great song but we heard it before ,sound like john Paul and George ,don't call us we will call you
Absolutely.. so much RAP CRAP sells.. yet talent like THIS.. gets passed over?? All about the easy bucks from the record companies these days.. taught kids to like cheap crap, sell em cheap crap, make big bucks. SICK.
Rick Beato put me on this song as well several days ago and it has been echoinginmy head ever since and I put in Muddy Magnolias and was so happy that it came up! What a beautiful song!
My new favorite song - like many others commenting here I tracked this video down after watching Rick Beato's video. Also, as with many other comments, mine is borne from both awe at the song and performance, and bewilderment as to how these remain unjustly obscure for so long. C'mon somebody; This needs to be released. With a little research I found that Jessy Wilson was a backup singer for John Legend and Alicia Keys - wow - what a voice...what technique. I could listen to this over and over.
Yep. I'm another one that just happened along to view Rick Beato's video where he talked about this song being lost in the shuffle. It is a tremendous song sung beautifully by these two talented ladies. Definitely going to have to save this in my playlist.
Steered here by Rick Beato too. They are so worthy of wider recognition and now hopefully, they will get it. Rick Beato is a force that the music industry should be paying very close attention to. Thank you for your advocacy Rick.
Rick Beato knows what he is talking about ... this is a song that should be world wide extremely publicized. It is like Rick mentioned in one of his videos... it is too far away from mainstream to take a chance on so we are shoved crap down our throats every day because the producers think that we want it. WE DON"T We want quality like this.
Again Beato brought me here. I have played keyboards for 30 years, learned guitar during the pandemic. This song is a gem sung by the right people at the right time, waiting to flower into the new world to inspire an entire new generation.
good question indeed, how come? Two excellent voices, professional band, fine lyrics 🎉❤ as far as I can understand them (native speaker of German). 😊😊 Hey guys, let's flood them with likes and subscriptions. I was glad to do so, join in. 😊😊 Kind regards, thanks, hugs, ❤ Muddy Magnolias. Btw: last, but not least, looking ahead to a long show from you, you're absolutely stage-ready!
I'm one more guy that checked this out after listening to Rick Beato talk about how great this song was, and Muddy Magnolias too. You know what? Rick was right (as always!)
This is one of those moments where you get the right band with the right sound for the right song, others could play/arrange the song, but there's just something about it that you guys get right that makes it your song and will forever be yours
How wonderful this is! Wonderful arrangement and performance, great quality recording... and of course, no freakin' autotune garbage. Thank you *Rick Beato* and thank you *performers* for this, true food for the soul. - Ed on the Ridge
Yet another Beato fan directed here by his commentary video on this song, so ladies, think you need to get this single released so we can pick it up officially - great song!
Brilliant! Like so many below, I heard this on Rick Beato's channel a day ago. Some songs you just know are good from the intro; my ears perked up when Rick played the chords on his guitar, but it was pure joy to be surprised as they built this up to being a work of art so good that I cannot imagine how anyone could re-interpret this song and not fall short of these ladies' magnificent creation. The music industry does a disservice to all of us by pandering to musical ignorance such that the product of minds with limited imagination and marginal skill drown out the marvelous fruits of musical genius and make it hard for artists like Muddy Magnolias to reap the rewards the deserve. In doing so, the music industry has created an impoverished musical ocean isolating thousands of true artists on islands resplendent with works such as Down by the Riverside. Upon reflection, having spent many hours listening to Boston area bands playing original music, perhaps thousands is understating the wealth of music out there that rarely get’s ‘air’ time on the radio and music streaming services. Thanks to Rick Beato for introducing us to Muddy Magnolias - They are now on my radar!
I also heard this on Ricks channel today. I couldn't agree more with sentiments expressed here. I'm 70 years young and live in the UK. I just love this.
Thank you Rick for sharing this. You ladies are giving me chills listening on my phone speakers. I can only imagine this live. Beautiful voices. You remind me of old gospel singers.
I want to like this repeatedly - I cannot do it. it's not fair - they deserve all the love for bringing this song to our lives. All the magnificence to these Magnolias.
Just listened to the Demo on Rick Beato's channel. How did this not completely blow up??? Great song, great performance!! You should release that near-perfect demo you recorded with Rick, I'd love to be able to purchase the single.
{Gabriel Negrete}, I agree. I like best the spare and yes near-perfect demo tape Rick played. This version here, partly because it's concert hall Live, has too much reverb, at least in the beginning section; and the slightly less-slow pace of the demo is better. Even though it doesn't need it, might do (try anyway and see) to the demo version, adding a short solo, maybe on dobro, or violin,; part of that old-time country-gospel-blues flavor. Maybe more short-refrain hook. A great song.
Back in the early 90’s these ladies would have been huge! Goes to show how the music business has become so bad it would let talent like this slip through cracks.
They should be huge now!!! The fact that they aren't, speaks volumes about the industry, and their lack of brains or their ability to recognize great music
Who is listening to this beautiful powerful piece of artistry because of RICK BEATO?

I'm here because of Rick too ... we've needed this for years.
Rick Beato is the GOAT. OMG those voices. Thank you ladies
Just saw Rick Beato’s video today of songs that never made it, I certainly do not know why not!
Came here via Rick Beato's channel. This is an absolutely beautiful song.
Beautiful voices. Rick Beato's page brought me here. This song should have been huge. Just awesome....
Well, they performed it and it has been heard. So, to say this song is not a success depends on your view what defines this often overused concept. How to I get a copy for my playlist. They are fantastic! This should have been a no.1 song!
It still can…
Same.
Same. Rick knew. I think seeing a Nirvana song hitting the top 100 inspired him to get this moving
Great song and performance! Glad you're getting some love for it. I'm here like so many via Rick Beato. Thanks Rick, thanks MM's, glad to be here!

Ditto. Thanks, Rick! What an amazing song and singers.
How many were brought here after watching Rick Beato just like me? He's right. So many great songs few ever hear...like this one.
The Beato Effect, boys 'n girls!!! You want more of this, folks? SUPPORT THEM and other artists who actually write their songs, actually take the time and care to work them out and actually perform them. THAT is the message, the take away. Thanks, Beato, for your ongoing musical education mission.
Yep im here because of Rick
Just wow. Thanks Rick for putting this music in my life!
@@GuitarMan22 yep me too.
Just watched Rick talking about this song, then here it is for me to listen to and see it performed.
Beautiful voices.
Just watched Rick talk about and play this song and the girls singing it. Amazing song and beautiful singing.
If anyone has ever been meant to sing together, it's these two ladies!! Bravo. Thanks Rick!
We meet on common ground.
Same - Rick Beato got me here.
Same here!
Will be interested to see how the view change after the Beato Bunch finds their way to this video. Right around 65k at the start.
Me too. Maybe it's not too late for these superb musicians to get a second chance. This is fantastic by any standards.
Rick Beato sent me. AMAZING song!!!! Dang I love this!
Bounce from Rick Beato video directly in here... loved the song. Rick is a rare lighthouse in the music world, and he just put you on the light for us.
WOW! Thanks Rick Beato for turning me on to these talented ladies.
I would have never heard this incredible song if not for Rick Beato's channel.
Absolutely beautiful, these Ladies have what Crosby and Nash had, communication and magic harmonies. There are no words.
Simply one of the most beautiful country song ever written and performed !! Thanks you mr Beato and the Muddy Magnolias.
This is fantastic thanks Rick Beato for directing me here!

Great description of this music!
Thank you, Rick!
Thank you, Muddy Magnolias especially!!
Good luck beating the crap of "The Machine", girls!!!!
Dad d dad

There's something truly broken about the music industry when a song this objectively brilliant goes absolutely nowhere.

Breaks my heart that they broke up.
@@peddler38501 Well, when you have bills to pay, and the industry ignores your genius talent, you have no choice to move on. It's sad.
The music business is Satanic. If you're not part of the dark side you're getting nowhere.
The music industry went into the toilet when they corporatized it in 1972 and then .............. came ................Disco
Thank you Rick Beato. This is a special song. It's wonderful. Great feel. It definitely needs to get released.
Someone contact Ms Dolly. She knows what to do.
Rick Beato put me on this song as well several days ago and it has been echoinginmy head ever since and I put in Muddy Magnolias and was so happy that it came up! What a beautiful song!
Well! Here ‘tis and it’s a beautiful thin! Thank you, Rick B!

I wonder what other brilliance is on that hard drive collecting digital dust
I’m yet another who heard this demo on Rick Beato and loved it.
Added to my library a minute ago. Play the video on CMT? Could be a good venue for it.
This song is okay, but my favorite song by this duo is Devil's Teeth.
Great song, happy to have just discovered it thanks to Rick Beato!
Arrived here by way of Rick Beato’s Channel. Fantastic song and a stellar performance. Intensely satisfying. Thank you ladies, and thank you Rick.

Rick Beato fan here! This song gives me chills! Absolutely beautiful vocals! I hope this reinvigorates these girls! ❤️
Just saw Rick Beato's channel and was led here. You know the music is good when it gives you goosebumps.
Why this song never hit the charts as number 1 and is not being played on the radio is beyond me. The music industry can sometimes be very fickle.
Yep. Rick Beato. Been playing this song over and over.
Again Beato brought me here. I have played keyboards for 30 years, learned guitar during the pandemic. This song is a gem sung by the right people at the right time, waiting to flower into the new world to inspire an entire new generation.
Thank you Rick Beato for pointing me in this direction. What a phenomenal song.
I found this because I just heard Rick Beato play it on his youtube channel. Fabulous and well done y'all! I'd love to hear more originals like this!

Yeah Rick Beato, you struck gold here. Such amazing vox. I'm hooked!
Astonishing music. I don't think I hear/see a bass player ... and it's still perfect. Yes, Beato brought me.

No hooks, no solo. Needs a good bridge. Nice tune, but not hit material on the country charts.

@@melvynobrien6193 Modern Country is crap. The demo is more in the vein of that KT Tunstall Cherry Tree song. Simple yet effective.
Thanks Rick and the band too, great music ,keep it up .
I'm here after watching Rick Beato video. What a fantastic song!! 😱
How are these ladies not famous!!!!!!!!!
Been coming here repeatedly for a year now. This song and performance hold up well. Thank goodness it was preserved!
These ladies should shop this song around again. This is a hit makes zero sense how it never became a massive song.
Wow! It's even better hearing it live.
How come they never got famous?
Mainstream music industry is corrupt - only promotes fear and insanity.
So heartening to see real musicians and authentic artisans sharing whole heartedly their honed craft! Thank you Magnolias!
This song should be #1. And it should be on every streaming platform. It's absolutely magnificent!
Thanks to Rick this song has found it's voice. Great song, great singers 👍
Awesome just awesome, funny how the Muddy waters can make the thoughts in your head flow clean and clear. Such an awesome song.
this is a beautiful song thank you Rick Beato
Back in the early 90’s these ladies would have been huge! Goes to show how the music business has become so bad it would let talent like this slip through cracks.
They should be huge now!!! The fact that they aren't, speaks volumes about the industry, and their lack of brains or their ability to recognize great music
Late 90s too. They definitely would have been part of Lilith Fair.
Nowadays the only talent worth having is the talent to make money.
Rick Beato brought me here! ..... Now this song should just explode!!
Yeah, thanks Rick for turning me onto this band. Thank you ladies for some beautiful music!
Rick is such an incredible artist to bring these two together for such an amazing song
That was absolutely magnificent. The shivers ran through me when the ladies hit those high notes. Thanks, Rick!
Thank you Rick Beato for turning me on to this tune! You're the GREATEST Rick.
this is what true music is
Thank you Rick Beato! These girls must be heard!😍😍😍😍
The Baha'i Writings say music should be a ladder for the soul. This proves it beyond any doubt.
Beato brought me here. This song and the vocal performance gives me chills. Outstanding!
