I wouldn’t worry about what people think about your color scheme. Everybody’s got their own individual, taste, and as long as you like it, there is no problem, and that’s all that matters. Good job with the beams.
Thats what I say too, unfortunately some ppl cant take criticism and get offended if you don't like it. Sorry but I called it like it is. If your diy isnt for me I state it, not to offend but as an opinion which we can still do at this time in america.
Never in a million years would I look at those beams and think they were made from foam, Kelsey you are a genus. They look absolutely stunning. Love this entire bedroom makeover to date. Well done x

I think you should put 3 straps on each beam to make it look more realistic. Love the beams! You did a great job. It's going to be beautiful when you are done.
You are my hero! There are so many women doing large project make overs in their homes. Amazing! I am in my 60’s and have always wanted things done, but have always relied on my husband…who had no interest. I could do painting and other small projects, but not like you! My goodness there is hope for me! My daughter is like you! Many blessings for you and your family!
These beams are pretty cool!! I am always amazed at the stuff you come up with! I like the strap in the middle, and you could put the beam straps at each end of the beans to balance out the center strap. You have black accents in the ceiling fan, so I don't think it looked out of place, and when you decorate you can put in a few black items to pull the color down/balance. I LOVE the moody green, and even if I didn't, it's YOUR room, so you get to choose!! 😁
I am impressed! Those beams look amazing! The only thing I am a bit weary about, is the glueing part not sure if it will last for years to come. Anywho, you have done an outstanding job! Thx for sharing!
Nice job! In terms of color schemes, you just don't know what a room is going to look like until you've put up pictures and lighting and fabrics. And the beams look very realistic!
Kelsey, I love how you're challenging yourself on technique and finding practical and affordable ways to reach your vision. Regarding the color, by itself looking at just the paint, I see where some might think it's too dark or monotone. But the most important thing is your vision, which is where you started. Each step is realization of that vision, and the beams are a great example. When all the parts of your mood board and vision come into reality, I can tell this is going to be an amazing transformation and beautiful result. And you always are ready to pivot if you need to make adjustments. We all can learn from your approach. And you are so CALM during it all! I love how you're confident and trusting in the process. Great, great job!
Thanks so much! I wish I could say I’m always calm. I can get obsessive about projects but I’m still learning to walk away and take a breather and it usually ends up working out.
I love the way the room is coming along. I think the beams look real and I love that you found the straps as a back up plan. It adds originality to the room.
Those look real. Wow! I still like the paint color and just know once you get the whole room put together with some decor, texture, and lighting it’s gonna look so cozy! In the end, all that matters is that YOU like it.
Great job on the beams that really helps with all the same color breaks it up and once you do your decor that will also help. Glad you can ask people's opinions and not get upset about it. We all have our safe zones about color and decor glad you went out their and did what you like and really thats what counts. ❤
I love the "strap" my only comment is it might look more balanced to add them as "hangers" on each end of each beam. Just a thought. Love your vision and creativity!
I love the color but on the walls only. Painting the ceiling the same dark color make it look so dark, like a cave. The beams would pop off a cream or white ceiling so much better and brighten the room up.l
This project is amazing!! Can’t wait to give it a try! You are the best!! Thank you for your inspiration. I have been watching your videos and started my reno projects with my stairs! Hehe just like yours were, mine are carpeted. Knocked one of the walls to install the rail (only have one side), installed the post, fixed the wall by adding drywall and is coming along. Thank you are a star!
I think it's really starting to take shape. And you love the color and that is the most important thing. I think the beams look great. I do like the idea of more straps for balance. You do great work and you have wonderful, creative ideas. Can't wait for the next video?
I think they turned out great. The strap adds more of a rustic feel. I would love to add some beams in our house but we have normal 8ft ceilings…not sure we would have enough space. I love your moody color scheme. I think it’s going to be beautiful when it’s all done and can’t wait to see the final reveal. Some people need to let go of their fear of color and branch out! If you hate it, paint is easy to fix.
I have 8 ft ceilings on the first story of my house. I was also worried beams would make it look lower but I keep seeing people do it on Instagram (shorter versions) and it looks great! Maybe a future project.
Kelsey what a great job! Fantastic idea! I would have glued the pieces together to make the beam the full 16ft and paint them once they were glued together. Also when painting there is a wood grain painting stencil that you add paint and drag along the surface. It makes knots and grain pretty well. But again love this project!
At very first I thought the paint was too dark, then you started the white accent paint and it totally changed my mind. A very elegant combination. Love it.
Oh my gosh, so pretty! I love this dark, rich, expensive looking moody vibe. So beautiful! Girl you just keep on bringing it! You are amazing!!! Those beams are gorgeous!
I love the beams and I think the straps look nice! Thanks for sharing how to make them from foam boards because I’ve wanted them in my living room which is several feet long and would be heavy even with them being hallow! Good job!! I love and need the mop/vac!
You are so talented thinking outside the box!!!…Love how the beams came out. Would be curious to see if another strap measured on the opposite side even distance for another strap to balance the look out..just a thought to see if it looked more intentional then hiding the seam? Please don’t take my comment as criticism because it’s absolutely not, just curious because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how this came out..I am excited to see your vision come to fruition!!!!..Thank You for sharing your ideas..Love them!!!
Of course I don’t take you guys’ opinions as criticism. Especially since I’m asking what you guys think 🤣🤣 I appreciate everyone’s ideas and suggestions
I am excited to see how this all turns out....love the beams they definitely look real.... everything you do has turned out awesome in the end I feel this is going to too. Ready for next week's video already lol see you then. Love your channel ♥️
I love the Straps! It gives the Beams a gentle touch of rustic without going overboard. Problem Solved! The Beams really look great. And the two sample boards you showed us for your room's goal are beautiful. Loving your room. Cathleen
I was one of those who was skeptical about the color….. but I trusted you and like usual you didn’t disappoint! It’s beautiful and I can’t wait to see it all put together!
Your room looks great. I don't know if anyone has stated this yet, but you can probably make this even cheaper by using vinyl from Dollar Tree to make the straps. The dots are made with the metal push pins. Just remove the pointed part, paint and glue on. I want to do this technique in my kitchen. Great job!!!
I love the straps and even if they were one piece, I would put those straps because, in reality, the authentic old beams that supported the buildings back then would have had maybe more than one and I love it when I can make anything appear aged and authentic when I decorate!! I think you did an amazing job and I think I may just try it out in a small boring hallway with really high ceilings that needs some character!!! Another thing I will try is I have these wooden half spheres that look so much like those the heads of those old metal rivets I think they are called. They are seen on old castle doors a lot and woodwork. And all about the old world castle look! But I think your idea is exactly what I was searching for all things considered. Thank you!!! Great job!!!!
I think you did an amazing job!!! I like the strap in the middle of the beams so much that I would actually make it wider and maybe with a material that would look hand hammered or hand forged to help with authenticity. If 2 wooden beams had to actually be spliced together, they would need a substantial metal strap. Looks amazing!!!!
I’ve never walked into someone’s home and think oh I hate the paint color/furniture/ flooring etc. I usually look for inspiration for something to do in my own home. My nephew has a beautiful home theater. The paint color he used is so unique and his lights are on a remote control dimmer. In our home theater, we used a similar paint color, made faux columns with cinema style lights (my idea)that are of course, on a remote control dimmer! 😁
That sounds awesome! Every Sunday night, we all like up in my bed and have a family movie night and it seems like my bed keeps getting smaller! 🤣 A home theater would be lovely!
Love creating the beams out of foam idea and now I want to do it 😊 will have to find a room where they will match the esthetic and vibe. Maybe my home office.
Looks good! I have a long piece of trunking (air conditioning) across the length of a long wall in my extension. It is white and I think I will try do the staining job like you did to get a wood effect!
I had to get up from bed and get on here to let you know you did a awesome job on the beams.. especially doing it by yourself. I like the straps. I'm so proud of you 😉. Lol
I love this! I have been looking at making wood beams for the high vaulted ceiling in our new house that we did all of the finishing construction on, but have been worried about the weight and how we would get them up there. Then I thought about buying foam beams but they cost so much and we would need so many. I am going to try this with my daughters so thank you so much for sharing your video! I love your bedroom, so pretty and the colour is very calming to me❤
The beams turned out great! I’m not sure I would go to all that trouble to save less than $100 but it looks awesome. I would have used real wood and recruited some muscle to install. Lol
Those look fantastic! I do have one question, though...What is rusted wood? I've been going over that in my mind for quite awhile and I cannot work it out. 🤷
This is amazing Kelsey 🙌 ,, Your attention to detail is why I follow you. I have been a DIY GIRL before there was YT.. I just would like to say I will put mine up and Faux Paint the wood look afterwards.. Easy, Peasy. I’ve done so many projects and learned afterwards ,easier ways.. ❤️
I like your inspiration photo as it really helped to see your vision. So excited to see each phase of this project and of course the end result is gonna be gorgeous . Your faux beams are so realistic, not sure about the straps as my eye wants to go to those instead of the beams, so I’m on the fence with the straps. I love the color choice and how it ties into the furnishings in your room.
Good job. Personally, I like it w/o the black sticker! I think you matched it pretty good. Thanks 4 the idea. I have beams in my front room, and want to continue in my kitchen. I can afford this idea! Thanks!
We like the wall color, the wooden wall treatment behind the bed, but not the same color on the ceiling. That's a fad that I believe will fade super fast. The room looks real nice. Hope you enjoy it for many years. Not liking the beams in the room. Great job on the creativity!
You did an awesome job with the beams, very interesting how you used the insulation panels, that makes them lighter!. Worth to watch it. Regards from Canada
I was looking for a channel to show me how to make faux beams from wood ,never ever would have thought to use foam , watching your video I am definitely going to try it ,love that faux strap too ,I need a 28 ft beam so I'm going to see if it comes wider ,thanks for posting

Beams look amazing! I think adding the black straps off set/on the ends would make a more “organic” look.
Can’t wait to see the final product! 😊
I am impressed! Those beams look amazing! The only thing I am a bit weary about, is the glueing part not sure if it will last for years to come. Anywho, you have done an outstanding job!

Love the beams! I really like the idea of making faux wood beams...much easier to handle plus, as you said, cheaper. Can't wait to see more!!!

That's a great idea! Thanks!
This is an amazing way to add beams to a room! They look fantastic! I think the straps actually give them more interest.
Thank you!

Brilliant!! I grew up around construction and am definitely a DIY person. And a lot older than you. Thank you for this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Genius idea!
So inspiring!!! This entire room is so gorgeous! It's like a dream!
Love the idea of the wood beams and I love the moodiness of the color. Great Job!
I think three straps on each beam would look better. Foam beams...this was such a good idea.
Oh…my… wow!
I want faux beams and a heavily patterned wild flower wallpaper all over my living ceiling and this is perfect! Thank you ❤❤
Looks good! I have a long piece of trunking (air conditioning) across the length of a long wall in my extension. It is white and I think I will try do the staining job like you did to get a wood effect!

Looks great. I would add more black straps too.
Really great imagination. Look good.
Those look fantastic! I do have one question, though...What is rusted wood? I've been going over that in my mind for quite awhile and I cannot work it out. 🤷
Did I say that in the video? Maybe rustic wood?
"Rustic" dopey....
This is such an amazing idea! I look forward to seeing the end results of your room.
This is amazing Kelsey 🙌 ,, Your attention to detail is why I follow you.
I have been a DIY GIRL before there was YT.. I just would like to say I will put mine up and Faux Paint the wood look afterwards.. Easy, Peasy.

I think adding the faux straps at each end would help make it look more uniform.
Absolutely gorgeous!!!! Everything is coming along so beautifully. You are very talented and inspiring!
Thank you so much!
Im wondering if additional straps would have assisted the total look? One on each end and one in the middle, or create 3 beam pcs instead 2?
Love this idea! So realistic ❤
Wow you did an amazing job!!❤ Good job!!
Thank you so sharing!!
Wow, awesome job Kelsey! I'm loving it...I see your vision for the room and I love it!
How creative to use foam for the beams! They do look real. Looks great. Why not put the strapping on both ends as well?
Good job. Personally, I like it w/o the black sticker! I think you matched it pretty good. Thanks 4 the idea. I have beams in my front room, and want to continue in my kitchen. I can afford this idea! Thanks!

Genius creation .Beam connected looked good also .Have you considered using double faux tape to increase the width realism of metal ?
