    Not only does Finland has a massive army, but it is all specialized for one thing only, defense. Finland has absolutely 0 interest in attacking anywhere, so all of its forces are solely focused on making any attacker bleed so much it would never be worth to even consider attacking there.
    Especially, since unless you attack Finland, its massive army is never going to move against you. Finland's army is even called Finland's Defense Forces

    • @Songfugel
      @Songfugel 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      also: even Putin has publicly stated this as fact, and to clarify a bit more, the Finnish defense is 100% specialized and focused against an attack from Russia.
      Funnily enough, the Ukrainian war has proven true the claims of Finnish generals that Finland knows the military capabilities and real time status of Russian army better than the Russian leadership does.
      They predicted exactly what would, and did happen, with Russia's invasion to Ukraine with their smoke and mirror army and equipment that was mostly just an illusion. That how most of their military force propaganda was either photoshopped or just rotated the same equipment and troops over and over again in different shots to make them seem different troops. While most of the army was completely outdated, out of repair and all the massive amounts of money allocated to renew and upkeep them, had been stolen by corrupt officials.
      Putin apparently was not made aware of this, until they were too deep into the war already, since just like Stalling and Hilter he has surrounded himself with yes-men and anyone who opposes him, seems to get a sudden urge to jump out of a window

      Yes! And the same thing goes for Sweden. So for us artilerry is not that usefull as we don't need to be able to shoot in to our friendly nations that souround us. And Denmark is such a small and har to defend nation geograflcly that they will have to stop enemy froces way before they gets thair boots on the gound. Still Denmark is of such an strategic value that NO nation with border to the Baltic Sea can allow Denmark to fall in to russian hands.
      And what about Norway you may ask. Bah... Norway Snoreway I'd say. Haha! i love Norway really. So greetings from "Söte bror" Sweden. (söte bror tanslates to Sweet brother in eng) Norway is much harder to invade as the entire nation is just fjordes and mountains. So i just guess that Norway are more focused on all sorts of rangers rather then grunts, but thats only a guess from my part.

    Just wanted to point out that Sweden USED to have a large army comparable to Finland's (called the invasion defense), it is just that our politicians cut down the army by a staggering 90% after the Soviet union fell. "Everlasting peace" was what they were thinking, very stupid.... Finland never stopped having an army geared towards the same goal, i.e. repelling an invasion by Russia, therefore it is very large.
    Sweden is slowly building it back up, but it will take time. Scrapping an army is quick work (it took about 10 years), but building one....yeah, I'll leave that unsaid.

      We can't ignore geography, we got 0 m border against Russia, Finland needs mass in it's army for obvious reasons, but don't get me wrong, we should increase the size of the army wartime organisation, but we don't need to put 100k people(which is roughly the pool of people each year) through military service, as far as I understand back in the day, there was a lot of shit gear as well, and a pretty big portion of it all was basically a meatshield, and tbh, Finland still uses old soviet stuff like MT-LB, it's simply too expensive to have huge mass AND good gear for that mass, best and fastest way to support e.g Finland if shit would ever hit the fan would be our Airforce, that would probably have the largest impact, but as mentioned, I'm happy to see the army wartime organisation increasing as well.

    • @vicolin6126
      @vicolin6126 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Alex-oc2vi True. However, the reason for having more stuff was for the simple policy "deterrance through strenght". If Sweden could field 800k men and the necessary gear and vehicles, that would make Russia think twice about invading. That was the whole point. All the gear could ofc not be the best in the world, but it was at least on-par or better than Soviet equivalents. Strv-103, for example, was very innovate as an MBT back in the 1960's, it was in fact a very good tank. However, it had issues with hydralic fluid and oil pooling on the floor. So, not the best thing to soak your feet in while in battle.... but Sweden had a lot if these tanks, like everything else really. Nobody would dare to invade Sweden back in those days - too costly of an operation, especially crossing the Baltic sea in order to get here.

    So the reason for Finland having those amounts of military vehicles, is due to them sharing a border with Russia. Denmark being in the center of it all makes land vehicles less important for them, but they're controlling the sea passes. Also the danish martime boundaries is all the way up and around the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

    Finland has always taken the threat of Russia seriously . No suprise however, considering the bad history they had with them. Pretty weird however that we in Sweden havent taken it as seriously as the Finns. We been to war with Russia like 30 or 30+ times in our history. Well i blame all the people that cutdown on our Swedish defense budget, people that acculy believed peace will last. Peace has never lasted once in mankinds history. It always breaks out wars and bs everywhere. Enouth with the thinking that peace can happen all over the world. It will never happen. alot of the old human skeletons have had spear wounds/blunt force against them, that pretty much speaks for itself, we humans will never have peace as long as we dont get along with each other

      Sweden didn't go to war for 2 centuries, mostly due to luck and geography. Despite all the wars in the distant past, the memory fades with time. The experience of war is so distant in the Swedish consciousness that naivety and idealism has taken hold.
      That is an unimaginable luxury to practically any other country on the planet. And Finland certainly hasn't had the same experience.
      Swedes have been able to live relaxed and at peace building prosperity without worry, Finns have always lived on the edge of the cliff, forced to pursue the "if you want peace, prepare for war" policy.

    • @vicolin6126
      @vicolin6126 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jm-holm I do not disagree with what you wrote, however I will add this for some nuance. After the loss of Finland to Russia in the 1800's, the newly elected king (Bernadotte) decided to pursue peace by non-alignment. He, as a former French Marshal, realized that gone were the days of Swedish domination over the Baltic sea, and that continued warfare would be detrimental to his new kingdom.
      His strategy worked partly because of our geography, sure, but you have to remember that Sweden has been invaded by both Danes and Russians in the past. Nobody was relaxed. In the modern era, this lead to a policy of "deterrence through strength".
      What I am trying to point out is that Sweden still had to worry about the Soviets during the Cold War, and as such had a massive conscription-based army (like Finland today) that was literally called "The invasion defense" in casual speak.
      This is the very same army that was cut down by 90% by our politicians, because of naivete. The "relaxing" part has been going on for about 30 years now, and was borne out of a false sense of security.
      However, the Swedes are definitely dusting off the old "the Russians are coming"-mentality that used to be very prevalent in our society.
      Did the Finns say "I told you so"? Yes, and good on them. They were right.

    There are several mistakes in the video, listed here are the mistakes that I noticed, there are probably more mistakes, but here are the mistakes that every single Finn who knows something about these things will notice relatively quickly.. First of all, there are currently 98 MLRS systems in Finland, not 70 as it says in the video(also more in order and more k-9 Thunder howitzers are also coming to Finland) , in addition to that, the video does not mention Finnish towed artillery, which is about 800 pieces, also the size of the reserve in the video is 70,000 men less than it actually is the size of the Finnish reserve is 870,000 men/women, the size of the reserve is the biggest mistake because the question is about a deficit of almost a hundred thousand people to the actual number . best regards Finnish reservists

    BV 410(Also known as BvS10) is kind of like a tracked APC, I think it has similiar protection levels(according to NATOs stanag system) as some of the Patrias listed in the APC category, but it is not really wrong to call it an ATV either, because it is an amphibious ATV, but armoured, better suited in the APC role in the high north/subarctic than the Patrias because of it's off-road mobility. Sweden has a total of 300-350 of these, if one includes vehicles ordered.

    We need to talk specialized and secret troops, from my experience, I have mostly met other Danes, like 8/10 Danes in any country. But like I said, its my personal experience. The Danes also help with a lot of training other countries in using military equipment. We are surrounded by the other nations and donated all our weapons to support Ukraine. We do not want the war to come to us. If it does, I am sure Scandinavia will join forces and help each other like we help most European countries.

  • @rockcanem

    As some one pointed out there are a lot of misstakes in this video. As a lot of Swedens equipment is delveloped to be used here in Sweden by the Swedish army, navy and airforce most of what we use are classified to keep Russia guessing on how well equiped we are. Sweden is allso depending a lot more on electronical warfare with guilded weamponry that can be used by both air, ground, water and submarines to make high pression strikes att hostile units aproaching our nations border. We got a lot of "electonical stealth" that hides our air, ground and naval units by signal jaming paird with other mecanical materials and shapes that all work togheter to hide our units from radar visibility. We can even interfere and create ghost signatures that make false radar signature on the enemys radar. Sweden is much more depending on teck then boots on the ground as Finland is. But Finland and Sweden are much more dependent on each other then most people realizes and our nations share a lot of comon tactics that makes both our nations stronger.
    Finland is more focused on boots and panzar as their borders are so long against Russia. And the nature of Finland makes a whole lot of tactical shokepoints that Finland can target with atillery to hinder Russian forces to advance in to Finland. They just have to lay down a barrage at these lokations to fight advansing forces or to deny acess to theese strategical shoke points. There are a lot of lakes, swamps and marshland that Finland can use as natural traps for an Russian invasion. So just by one atrillerybarrage they can turn the ground that enemy soldiers stand on to be more sutiable for life jackets than heavy body armour. And as Finland is so close to Russia the use of jet fighters are limited as Russia can launch ground to air missiles to shoot at aircrafts as soon as they take off. And/or just use ground to ground atrilerry to destroy the airbases of Finland so that no air craft can lift or land safely at all.
    So Finland and Sweden has an long standing contract to defend each other incase of an Russian agression aginst any of our two nations. Sweden did almost join NATO long before Sweden an Finland took the dessiosion to join NATO together. But we stayed out of NATO as Finland asked us to serve as a buffer zone between NATO and Russia. For a long time this made Scandinavia a less tensed place as Russia had good relations with both Sweden and Finland. But as soon as Russia invaded Urkanie Russia drove both Sweden and Finlad in to NATO.
    Sweden has allso had good cooperations with both Norway and Denmark ofcorse. But as both of them have been part of NATO so long Sweden have had a NATO-Partnership standing long before we acually joined NATO.

    In Finland, military service is mandatory for men, but it didn't mention that reservists go to refresher training and reservist activity is at a high level in Finland, and it probably meant home guard troops, I'm not quite sure, and Finland bought an air defense system called daavindi linko from Israel, which was not shown in those.
    The best defense is to have credible defense forces, is Finland's motto, that's why those statistics are on Finland's side in many cases.
    The people of Finland have not forgotten their history as a neighbor of the Soviet Union, i.e. present-day Russia.

    After the attack on Ukraine all European countries are focusing on their military capacity and also need to re- stock on equipment that they have donated to the Ukraine defense. Norway and other Scandinavian/ Nordic countries has contributed with a lot of equipment and are now building up their own defense. So this analysis would look a whole lot different in a couple of years. Go Finland! They share the border to russia as Norway do, just a larger stretch, and Finland has been in war with russia before, so they don't want to be in that position again.
