  • Welcome to the Saturday tram presentation from Schony747.
It's now winter in Melbourne but there is still some autumn colour about. The Victoria Parade tramway in East Melbourne is a perfect representation of Melbourne in Autumn. The tram tracks are lined on each side by Dutch Elm trees which provide plenty of colour this time of the year.
There are a few other historical facts about this section of tram track you may not be aware of as well. So it back and enjoy the colour as Comeng A Class Trams and Alstom Citadis Low floor trams roll past in front of you on tram route 12 Victoria Gardens to St Kilda and tram route 109 Box Hill to Port Melbourne.
Have a great weekend everyone - Brenden S.

Yes. It's 1 week into winter and we still have signs of autumn as well. Crazy weather!

Exeter Central If you like what you’re seeing, check out Route 5 down Dandenong Road, there’s a video of Brendan driving down there. It’s really pretty like this location. In fact, it is actually very similar!

Dandenong Road and Victoria Parade are somewhat similar. The Eastern Suburbs on route 70 is also fantastic in Autumn.

Ii very much enjoyed this video. When I was a boy in the 1950's, Dutch Elm Disease killed off the Dutch elms in my home town in NW Indiana. So all I ever saw were bare trunks with yellow X's painted on them (for removal). It was great to see them together with the trams. Thank you!

Thanks for having a look. These trees are protected so won't be going anywhere soon.

Simply incredible Branden! Thank You for creating and sharing the incredible video. What a lovely setting! The citizens of Melbourne are very lucky to have such a wonderful Tram System, and Tram Drivers like you Brendan! The Victoria Parade is beautiful with the Dutch Elm trees. Those trees by the their size, must be quite historic. Rt. 109 and Rt. 12 are being added to my favorites list. Someday I was to visit your beautiful city & ride the Trams.

@@Schony747 I'd prefer Australian natives. Dutch Elm trees are subject to disease and they're of nil value to our wonderful native birds.

Well, as a melbournian, the system is no where near perfect though. We get delays on these two routes 80% of the time.

Absolutely beautiful scenery and captured so magnificently, this video was an absolute joy to watch. 😄 Even learnt some great things along the way. Loved those still shots in there too, great bright and colourful autumn colours with always nice trams too.
Those nice poles are also in Dandenong Rd and Fitzroy St too, they are very nice and fancy, glad they are protected by heritage, they have a great old charm to them. 😄
Thanks for sharing another great video Brenden, this one was a real pleasure to watch.😄🚊🔔🔔

G'day Brenden 😄 that's a great idea, I think I will have a nice look down there sometime. It looks like such a nice spot. 😄 Plus I can also get some shots of the trams there too. I always think C classes look pretty nice actually and the good old little speedy A Classes 😄🚊🔔🔔

Thank you for another great video. Melbourne is so fortunate to have such a wonderful tramway system and I hope they resist rebranding it as light rail. This location is very picturesque and must be a pleasure to drive through. I remember the trees in Fitzroy Gardens being colourful when I last visited the gardens in 1990. I will visit Melbourne again in the near future.

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  4 ปีที่แล้ว

No chance of being re branded light rail! Lots of upgrades at the moment as well so the trams won't be going anywhere either.

I look at the car traffic and want to tell them, "Wouldn't you rather be taking the trip in this comfy tram?" Too bad there aren't more streets with a wide median to separate the trams from cars and to provide a space for trees. I know some people think the overhead wires are unsightly, but these aren't. Nice video!

Dandenong Road is another tree lined road as well. Not as good as Victoria Parade but still another with trams in the middle of the road.

A great compilation, beautifully planned and captured.. I didn't know about the poles being classified by the National Trust. As you say, much history there: the original Parade College and, opposite it, the location of the original Presbyterian Ladies' College (replaced by the Masonic Centre and Dallas Brookes Hall, which themselves seem to have been replaced). The Abbotsford Brewery, the Salvation Army Training College, and many once-grand townhouses. Thank you.

    • @Schony747

I thought about adding other buildings but focused on the beauty instead. Dandenong Road and Fitzroy St St Kilda are two other locations where the poles are heritage listed as well.
