Thanks. I'm a guitarist with a lot of Blues background. Valuable insight that I'll keep in mind -- in particular that any blues scales ( not just modal) are appropriate. Still will use some Miles "quotes" though -- lol. Good work

Wow Ron! Your knowledge is so vast that it has me intimidated. Your control is remarkable especially when you were playing the longer melodic lines. How are you able to separate the two hemispheres and play such complicated ideas melodically against what is essentially an ostinato figure? Do you pre hear what you're going to play or are they simply scales? I heard the pentatonics moving chromatically and I heard you cycle through Fourths in the bridge but that's about all that I was able to comprehend. I love this tune and you played it masterfully!

Thanks, Will! It took me a long time to play like this. I think it's just like speaking a language. You do it for years, study everything you can, and gradually you become more free with it. It's like you're speaking with a friend. They mention something and then you immediately tell and anecdote or tell a joke about it. Where did that come from? It's the same with improvising jazz. It's also like earlier in the summer when I was swimming in the ocean. You dive into a wave and you have some sense of how you'll move through it, but you're also prepared to adjust constantly and see where it takes you. So it may come out a little (or a lot) differently than you expected. Just keep playing, studying, and gradually you'll go in this direction too!
