A major reason (one could even argue the main reason) Em became Em is because he was pursuing excellence and aiming to be the best in the game. It’s an intrinsic part of the ethos at least in some point in time on the journey of every Hip-Hop artist that gets brought up in the GOAT conversations.
Jack Harlow is clearly aligned with that principle. MGK is just as aligned in his response.
Being THE definitive GOAT is ultimately a fictional goal just because Hip-Hop music, although it can fit the mantle of a science and a sport very well, is in its essence an art and therefore in the final analysis subjective.
Regardless, it doesn’t make it any less relevant and effective of a goal to pursue as what comes with the territory of attempting to be the definitive best is progress. To a certain point. I believe there is a point in which leaning too far into a competitive nature bring back diminishing returns.

As a RAPPER, yeah Jack is the best white boy since Em. No doubt. He has concise story telling, multi syllable rhymes, flows, delivery, some humour - the dude can RAP.
As an artist, for me, Mac is up there. He’s probably the dopest rapper/musician we’ve seen and I’ll forever be a huge fan.
