You're Doing Text Wrong in After Effects!

- Today we're creating a super useful animation for typing text effects in After Effects! This effect has been used in a number of films, motion graphics, and just about anywhere text on screen is needed. In the past, we talked about creating a smooth hand drawn text animation, but this time we're making text that looks like it was created on a digital screen. This is great for replicating the look of social media bubbles, text messages on phones, and typing text on computer screens. The best part about this effect is that it doesn't require any plugins, and it's made procedurally, allowing for a bunch of customization easily. I'm super excited to share this with you!

Hi man, i love your tutorials even tho i don’t have Premiere or After Effects!
I'm noticing a weird artifact of the way this expression is set up where the dynamic text wrapping results in a word starting on one line, then jumping to another line as the Text value increases. Is there a control somewhere to manage that word wrap behavior? My text is left justified and I've messed with the font size slightly and got a different result but it still starts with the word THE on line two of my text, then as the last word in that line jumps to the next line, the word THE jumps from the end of line 2 to the beginning of line 3. I may force some line breaks next to see if that helps.

Thanks for this, really helpful. I can see Adobe added a preset which is very similar to your code here. But with both the preset and the code I'm not sure how to make the cursor and the text different colors, as you have done at 0:06 - any quick tips to help me out? Thanks again!

Bummed... at :45 you said you were going to cover how to remove text as if someone was making a correction. Im stuck on a project where I need to simulate a chatbox where the text wraps down one line. But one of the words in the middle of the sentence is highlighted, deleted, then the new word is entered. Typically text will fall back and fill that space where the word is deleted. I cant do this with the Typewriter preset. I even tried taking screenshots and using them then using the typewriter preset on the one word that has to be edited. I cant unwrap the text using masks and position keyframes... who knew it would be so complex. Im not sure if I can using the expressions youre covered in the video.
Its been months since your comment, but you can do this by using this to send the cursor through the typo or change, then going back on the slider to where you want the cursor to delete. Then duplicate the layer, correct the text, and continue the slider moving on the new layer. It takes multiple layers to make corrections.
