Thanks. Mine is even different. It has the Valdai mark, but the top bezel is very narrow and the text is near the front element. Serial number starts with 88.
I have a 44M-4 and the text is all latin on the lens front and made in KMZ, but the serial number is starting with 84, so I assume they started making the type III in 1984. Would I be correct, as you showed a type III and you state that they started production in 1987?
Same situation - I got the "Type 3" lens made in 1984 from my mom's Zenit 12xp. Great she didn't like taking photos much, so despite traveling around northern Africa, the lens is still in mint condition haha
To be honest I am lost😅. I bought a Valdai 1978 Helios 44-2 and didn’t realize it at the time about 2-3 years ago. There doesn’t seem to be to much oil at all on the aperture blades thankfully. But I still get photos with terrible white balancing.
Hi - I have 4Versions including 44- M with M39. I have 44M and 44-M-4 and "MC Zenit Helios 44-M-4" ... Are the other versions multi coated too? Thanks, P.
Do you ship to India? I want a Helios and a zenitar m2s if possible. I love the m2s but can't find any here. And most Helios lens I found arenot good. If you can help would love to buy from you.
according to reviews, KMZ produced Helios lenses tend to have a better build quality than Valdai. specific copies from both factories may vary of couse.
Hi there, i really love your in depth lens reviews, thank you. Im looking for a better Helios 44-2 now. th-cam.com/video/mV3MSfl-NYI/w-d-xo.html ... Do you have any "Industar 50-2 50mm lenses"? would you be willing to make a review for them too please?

thank you for your input!
Great video analysis!
I think mine is a type 2 as it’s dated 83, but the writing is in Latin letters. I brought mine up in the UK
never encountered that one frankly speaking...
Have the type 3 version in Sony A mount. Love it, great lens. Very Sharp, but is it some way to return it back to m42?
yes, normally you can unscrew adapter
Thx Roman. These lenses put to question of buying a mutil-thousand $£€ lens then put a pro-mist filter on it.
I have a 44m-4, it looks a lot like the Type 7, but produced by KMZ in 1993. Is it another variation?
any ideas why my type 3 helios, create vignete in the image?
thanks
i never encountered such issue....
@@RetroFotoHouse ok thanks

@@RetroFotoHouse I meant Helios - 44... but it is not answer on my question...
Thanks Roman !!
Hi. I am from Chicago. I would like to buy Helios 44 with ef mount. Is it possible to meet locally?
I have a 44M-4 from 1982 with Latin lettering. Would you call that type 2 or type 3?
rather type 2, but never encountered such early lenses with latin lettering

i found a type 7 but made by KMZ. could there be a quality difference between KMZ and Valdai type 7?
according to reviews, KMZ produced Helios lenses tend to have a better build quality than Valdai. specific copies from both factories may vary of couse.
Which one would work best on M43? (I have a GH5) большой спасибо
try type 4 and you'll be happy
