Thanks ! Yeah it's great at the beach. Like I was saying in the comments, it doesn't seem to get sand in the works unlike some of the others with drive shafts etc. Every RC fan needs a Lunchbox in their life !

At the time I was always watching Matteos Tamiya videos over and over and it was my aim to make similar videos with the re-watch factor. I think that this particular one does well on TH-cam because there are adverts on because of the copyrighted music. Anyway many thanks again for your continued support mate. Yes hopefully be allowed out to make more action vids before the year is over!
Great video! Nice to know that stock gears can stand up to a brushless motor! I’ve brought my Lunchbox to the beach and was really surprised how well it does for RWD, even on the really rough areas of sand where people have walked and made holes with there feet. It has a fair amount of suspension play. You make really good points of why the Lunchbox makes a good beach vehicle.
Yeah I think that the Lunchbox tyres make it a good beach RC too. They just ride over everything. I did buy a Hornet with a view to running it at the beach but the front springs get clogged up as does that bit where the gearbox attaches to the car. I think that the standard Lunchbox springs can get clogged and CVA dampers fair better. Many thanks for your feedback :-)

Cool I really hope that you enjoy it. Be careful with that gold finish if you are running it on a hard surface though as I guess it's like the chrome bumpers which can get chipped. Like I was saying in the comments the Lunchbox doesn't seem to suffer with sand getting in the workings like other RC's. Just check the bearings at the ends of the rear axle every now and again, especially if it ends up in the sea. Other than that, if you make sure you waterproof the receiver and if you bought a waterproof brushless set, you can just hose it off when you get home from the beach. Ha, I've not seen a General Lee Lunchbox. Sounds like a cool plan ! Yes it must be one of the least menacing monster truck designs. It's cute and funny without being childish. They say that Mum knows best but that's probably not true when it comes to RC cars. I was looking at the demographics of the people who look at my videos and rather unsurprisingly it's about 95% male !

The Tamiya Lunch Box is a great RC car, I recently repainted mine in a Mad Max theme. Can these kinds of jumps be done with the "out of the box" shock absorbers?
That sounds cool. Yeah the standard springs are fine for jumps, they are just more bouncy. I ran mine as standard for a long while and they are pretty tough. Thanks for watching.

Hi Mark. Yeah I was pretty pleased with how this one turned out. I still don't really understand what makes TH-cam promote a particular video though. I've got a Lunchbox video with about 50k views but I don't think it's the best one I've done. I've got some more recent ones like the springtime one that I think are better but haven't had major views. Anyway as previously discussed we are only doing all for fun anyway. Especially now they have changed the rules about monitising a channel. I expect you've seen that it's now 1000 subs plus 4000 viewed hours a year which I haven't got. Anyway yeah you need a Lunchbox mate. Hopefully you can get a cheapie and do it up. If you do get one I've got some tips. One of the main ones is to get the aluminium body posts as the chrome plastic ones break in about a minute. Go brushless for sure, I've got a 3500kv in mine which is probably quick enough. Hi Mike. Actually I didn't do the wheelie bar mod like yours in the end but I've done a thing with cable ties that is hard to explain but basically protects the gearbox from the metal wheelie bar. The brushless set isn't all that brutal but is quite quick. It's turned the Lunchbox into my most favorite thing ! I've literally done no maintenance on the Lunchie for over a year and it goes out regularly. It's the only one I take to the beach now as nothing seems to go wrong with it unlike the others that get sand in the workings. I've got a load of new footage of it which will be up on TH-cam as soon as I get round to editing it. Thanks for your feedback :-)

@@simonellis2721 yes you need a waterproof servo and receiver. If the receiver isn't waterproof you can seal it in a party balloon with a cable tie. Check out my Lunchbox build and mods videos. I go through all the changes I made.

Hi there. Yeah it should be ok but the Tamiya esc doesn't have a lipo cutoff so you'd need to have a lipo voltage alarm. Best to use the Carson/Hobbywing one that has lipo mode 👍👍
Hi there. No it's just the standard Tamiya tyres with no foams. Yes water does make it into the wheels and I squeeze it out after the run. Seems to be more of an issue to get water in a tyre with foams as it doesn't come out so easily. With those I end up making little holes in the outside of the tyre and spinning the water out. I remember these cars from my teenage years, they were a lot of fun but the batteries only lasted about 5-10 minutes tops and took forever to recharge and the batteries were too expensive for a teen doing neighbors yards for $5 to acquire.
Ha yeah the battery life used to be a real issue back in the day. Thankfully now you can get 40 mins or so out of a battery that only takes and hour or two to charge. Also they are much quicker now with the brushless motors. Can't beat the old 80's styling though :-) Thanks for your comments.

Tho T Cool, hope you enjoy it. I keep meaning to do a little video about the mods I've done on mine. It's nothing major but people do ask. Yeah I think Tamiya get a fair bit of business from fans who put their vids on here. Matteo Meyer has cost me a fair few quid with his well shot Tamiya vids. Haven't regretted it tho :-)

@@simonellis2721 yes you need a waterproof servo and receiver. If the receiver isn't waterproof you can seal it in a party balloon with a cable tie. Check out my Lunchbox build and mods videos. I go through all the changes I made.

Hello the original esc who come with car can accept standard lipo 7,4v ?
Hi there. Yeah it should be ok but the Tamiya esc doesn't have a lipo cutoff so you'd need to have a lipo voltage alarm. Best to use the Carson/Hobbywing one that has lipo mode 👍👍

Hi there. No it's just the standard Tamiya tyres with no foams. Yes water does make it into the wheels and I squeeze it out after the run. Seems to be more of an issue to get water in a tyre with foams as it doesn't come out so easily. With those I end up making little holes in the outside of the tyre and spinning the water out. I remember these cars from my teenage years, they were a lot of fun but the batteries only lasted about 5-10 minutes tops and took forever to recharge and the batteries were too expensive for a teen doing neighbors yards for $5 to acquire.
Ha yeah the battery life used to be a real issue back in the day. Thankfully now you can get 40 mins or so out of a battery that only takes and hour or two to charge. Also they are much quicker now with the brushless motors. Can't beat the old 80's styling though :-) Thanks for your comments.
