This is so interesting. I had assumed that wall was owned by the city and have long wondered when the missing section would be replaced. It's amazing that you could organize the neighbors to do this together. I drove by today and saw that there is still a few sections of the wall at the corner of San Tomas Expwy. Is that section staying?

Hey Sharon, Unlike the other sections that we just removed, the County of SC maintains the corner sections of the sound wall as it loops onto San Tomas Expressway. Thanks for watching and following our projects!

Hi - just curious...since the intention of the concrete wall was for "sound", did the new redwood wall have the same "sound" protection? It would be interesting to know what the homeowners think about the new wall. Thanks.

Hi Virginia, thanks for watching and your question is spot on! When we kicked off the project were very concerned we would lose sound protection from the roadway. It was cost prohibitive to redo the wall with precast concrete. The 8 foot retaining wall/fence is a good alternative as each property can now maintain their own fence. I wish I would of conducted some decibel testing pre and post to see the difference. In speaking to a few neighbors they have concluded that the road noise is the same or better with the higher redwood fence. The additional two feet makes a difference!

@@milestonesprintervan-peter9545 Thanks, for responding. Yeah, it would have been interesting to see what the decibel testing would have shown. Oh, well. Glad to hear the tenants like the new fence.
