I love Southern but their version was loud, harsh and out of tune. I'm giving this one to my alma mater, JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY. It is a beautiful rendition, you can jig to it, it's grooving and well played. If you have true taste in band music arrangement, then you know this is GOLD. Salute Sonic Boom! I appreciate to infinity when marching bands are balanced and proportioned. Musicianship and quality will always trump quantity. JSU is a BEAST from what I am seeing and hearing this season! Being honest, I lost interest in the Jsettes since Chloe became their advisor. While I think she exemplified form as a captain in her day, it was kind of blah for me - too cute. This is the first-time I have been entertained and captured by this group of women, but I see it! These new counts (@ least to me) were 🔥🔥🔥
Gladstone Edwards when this song first came out, i knew it would a favorite. The arrangement is pretty good, beginning and ending are subpar. Directors need to emphasize more on dynamics, intonation, articulation and balance to name a few.
