My absolute favorite steam locomotive of all time. I have this exact same model by BLI in my model train display. One day I will like to run it, but I would have to build a model railroad first! Thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed watching this 😀

Very spectacular model of the NYC rr Dreyfuss Hudson locomotive, these engines are very impressive with their streamlined design and I wouldn't mind owning one of these engines in the future for myself.

The Dreyfuss design has always been a masterpiece. One of my favorite trains!

What color grey did you paint the pilot wheels? I have a P2 Hudson and want to fix the lack of painted wheels.

What are those Cars Behind it?

Nice blackening of the pilot wheels! I do the same whenever necessary. Now you could also take on the wheels underneath the cab (and their inside!) plus the tender wheels.
Strange how the engineer and fireman sit way too high on their seats. A real bummer. In reality their heads don't come even halfway the windows. The figures may be anatomically correct but flesh tends to compress when sitting down, cushion seats also compress considerably, so the bums of the figures should be filed off at least a couple of millimeters. If it is at all doable to take them out...

A couple years ago I almost picked one of those up, but soon after hearing the sounds I was pretty much done with sound equipped steamers. I eventually picked up the Samhongsha made Boxpok version. It's a well made model and I'd put it up against any of the modern high-end plastic and diecast of today!

Beautiful model Adam! BLI did a great job on their rendition of 5453. The Dreyfuss Hudson is one of my favorite steam locomotives. Thanks for sharing,
    Ethan

Great model and review as always Adam! Could you possibly make a video of the New Haven 2-10-2?

Hmm. I have not yet done a video on any of my limited brass models. Maybe I will put one together for you.

Beautiful locomotive. I bought the MTH one because the BLIs weren't available; it runs horribly. I really wish I'd looked harder for the Broadway!

+Alex Ethier Me too. Not to mention MTH's legendarily poor warranty service and costly out of warranty service.

+Andrew Kiely Their warranty is terrible

Thanks for the review. That engine's quite the looker. Also, are there alternative bells so that the bell can sound more consistent when the whistle is on?

    • @adaribros
      @adaribros  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There are no other bells. Only other whistles. Of which, none are really correct.

Sadly, a potentially great model loco ruined by poor design. I was so happy when BLi announced this loco, I ordered two versions. They finally arrived and I took them to the club, attached the six very light coaches and ran it up a 2.5% grade. By the time it got to the top it was waddling like a duck. The traction tyre had twisted. I packed that one away & got the other one out. smooth on the flat, then up the hill & it waddled like a duck. Two failures out of two. I was hoping to order a Non-Traction tyre driver, but BLi don't make one. So now I have two very pretty display locos. BLi state "Impress your friends",... well they were impressed by how bad BLi Hudsons were and the conversation soon went to how bad BLi Traction Tyred locos are, with endless horror stories. I would love to buy more BLi locos, but not with traction tyres. Hey, wouldn't it be good if BLi put a set of Non-Traction Tyre drivers in the box. Never happen while they chase the toy train market instead of the modellers.

Great model of a great locomotive. It still looks "modern".

I didn't know why you say "uh" at the end of "let's" it sounds like you were saying words with an "a' at the end of each word and it's a bad habit I wouldn't try to do anything like that if I were you. I'm not being mean I'm just saying nicely that's all.

Do you have a Pennsy K4? If so, you should have the Dreyfuss race it. Like on even straight stretches and do a versus video.
